Here's a list of what I hope will be helpful links for all those writers out there! This list is always being updated. If you have any more to add, please contact me () or ping me . Unfortunately, something happened with the last thread with this list and I had to redo it, so if I missed any, let me know!

The first big thing that writers should be aware of is a little thing called National Novel Writing Month, otherwise known as NaNoWriMo or simply NaNo. During the month of November, NaNo challenges novelists to write 50,000 words in 30 days. Users often do activites for NaNo; feel free to join the forum group !

[u Grammar and Composition Guides[/u]] Index for Grammar and Composition This link is the index for both the Guide to Grammar and Writing as well as Pricinples of Composition. Both guides are extremely helpful with those pesky grammatical rules and so forth.

The Oatmeal - Grammar Comics These are some fun comics to help with some common grammar problems and mistakes!

[u Tools[/u]] Charahub This website (created by Subeta's staff) helps you keep track of your characters by allowing you to write their details, biographies, even answer questions submitted by other users in order to flesh out just who your character is!

Toyhou.se This is another great tool that allows you to keep track of your characters. There is even a system to sell, trade characters. This one is currently in invite alpha currently, however.

The World Building Game This is technically a Gaia link, but it has a great question sheet to help you get a better feel for the world you've created! You are not obligated to post in any way. You are free to use the questions as you please.

750 Words A useful site that keeps track of your daily word count, as well as helpful features, goals and challenges to motivate writers.

Mary Sue Test Is your character a Mary Sue? Take this quiz to find out!

Five Factor Personality Test Use this test to figure out which factors your characters score high and low in! You can learn more about the big five personality factors here.

The Seven Deadly Sins Quiz Use this handy quiz to find out which of the seven deadly sins your character exhibits! Find out more about the seven deadly sins here.

Alter Ego Alter Ego is a web-based game that allows you to go through events of life in any number of possible ways, giving you insight into how other lives may go. Be careful, however, it's quite addictive!

Color Scheme Designer Need a color scheme but not sure if the colors will go together? Use this helpful tool to get a better visualization of your scheme!

Write or Die This site is exactly how it sounds. It's an app available for iPads, desktops, or a web app that motivates you to write with no distractions--or you die. Well, not die, but you do receive punishments.

Written? Kitten! This is a site like Write or Die that motivates you to write! Only instead of punishments, you are rewarded with a kitten every 100 words!

Scrivener Scrivener is an excellent program that you can use to write your stories! It gives you ways to organize your scenes, chapters, notes, character sheets, setting sheets, etc all in one place. This program is one that you need to purchase, however they do have a free trial.

SuperNotecard SuperNotecard is a tool that is really great for organizing ideas and scenes. You can move the cards around, cross-reference them by scene, theme, characters.

[u Resources[/u]] Internet Resources This is an extensive list of resources for writers--really, it's massive!

alphaDictionary This site has thousands of different dictionaries and specialized glossaries that could come in handy!

TvTropes TvTropes is a website that is not just about tropes used in television, but all forms of literature as well. You can read more about tropes as tools here.

Character Archetypes List Handy list of different character archetypes!

Types of Heroes Types of Villains These sites have a pretty comprehensive list of different forms of heroes and villains!

Traits of Human Consciousness This is a list of positive and negative traits, including attitudes, attributes, social endowments, and skills.

Behind the Name This is a great website resource for naming characters. You can search by meanings, gender, origin, etc.

Nymbler Here's another great naming resource! Uses a favorites/block list system to help you keep track of what names you like and which you don't.

Lackadaisy Glossary This glossary has several slang terms used in the 1920's and 1930's!

List of Generic Forms in Place Names in the UK and Ireland This wiki article gives a list of commonly used prefixes and suffixes used in place names, as well as the meaning of those prefixes and suffixes!

Chemicals Used for Illegal Purposes This Googlebook has a lot of information on chemicals and poisons that may be helpful in finding the right poison for any job!

Herbal Properties Herb Magic These two sites have lists of herbs and spices as well as their assumed properties. Most helpful for stories that include a bit of magic!

The Top 100 Things I'd Do if I Ever Became An Evil Overlord If I Were the Hero... These links have some humorous lists of things that both evil villains and heros might want to do!

[u Generators[/u]] Seventh Sanctum This site has a lot of generators at your disposal! It also has a list of other generator sites that could be useful.

Serendipity Another huge generator list that has generators for people, places, things, travesties, and stories!

watch out 4 snakes This site has a few creativity tools, most being generators! There are generators for random words, phrases, sentences, and paragraphs. Challenge yourself to use what it generates for you!

Chaotic Shiny A useful site that has several generators and tools that are great for writers and for gamers! One of their most interesting generators is their weapons generator.

Springhole.net Generators Another list of handy generators to add to your list!

Behind the Name - Random Name Generator I highly recommend this name generator. You can set parameters such as which names you want (first, first and middle, etc.), gender, surname, and origin.

[u Writing Prompts[/u]] Creative Writing Prompts Hover over a number to receive a writing prompt! Note: Does not work in Opera browsers.

WritingFix This site has several different writing prompt sections, as well as other writing materials and resources.

500themes - The Dragon A list of 500 phrases for writing prompts!

OneWord This website gives you a one word prompt, and you are given 60 seconds to write about it.

Thank you so much for creating this topic! I've been putting it to use over this past week.

I'd like to suggest Types of Heroes Wikia and Types of Villains Wikia to be added to the list. They list their respective character types alphabetically, with definitions and articles for most/all that include examples. I have found them very useful, especially for my villains. I go through the list, jot down the ones I think are applicable, and typically their motivations reveal themselves. Well, they've been cooperating so far at least. LOL

That's amazing. No wonder it's such a great site. I would also suggest adding Super Notecard to the list. It's really great for organizing ideas and scenes. You can move the cards around, cross-reference them by scene, theme, characters... 10/10. https://www.supernotecard.com/
