Well, since I ahem feel rather puny and inadequate fighting the final boss for most any plot that we have... I wonder if there could be an alternative way to cause damage to the main collective boss other than having a pet to fight. If that makes sense? Like, perhaps a game with varying degrees of difficulty to determine how much damage you do once you complete a game. Instead of sP, it contributes to the total damage against the boss?

I wouldn't mind seeing them change up the formula a little. I'm not really super confident in their game design skills, but maybe a quest or something?
Or to keep it battle related, maybe waves of smaller opponents that have to be cleared before the boss fight can progress?

You just have to battle him once for the achievement anyway.
There's no reason for there to be an alternative. Just do some damage, heal, go back in, etc. like everyone else.
yup. every little bit helps, even if you have a smaller pet, and morostide has always had a battle element to it. well, we haven't had a boss battle before, but we don't get 'alternatives' when there's an HA contest (for example) for the people who have tiny wardrobes. Not the best comparison, I know, but still.

You really had to go and remind me of Peka Boo again, did you. Where we had no alternative but play the terrible game
I'd agree with 'every little bit helps' usually, but I keep getting 0 damage because it does the defense boost thing :( not being a battler, I'm probably missing something obvious?
Anyway, I'd love some alternatives, but I do understand why people find it unnecessary, so I don't think it's gonna happen.
An alternative is unnecessary, imo. Just attack even if it's 1 HP or whatever. You'll still get a prize for participating in the battle.
omg stop saying "no alternative needed" Some people don't have time to dedicate to leveling pets? (or money if you want to go that route). I level one of my pets for these events and she still can't do any damage, 1 hit and k.o. I'd like to do the all day training if didn't frickin require csc.
I don't mind the battle, I actually like it better than playing a game, but I can't do even one point of damage to the boss. I wouldn't mind not being able to fight if I could just get the achievement. unu
There's no need for alternatives, but some variety could be good. Not everyone battles, so the plot's climax leaves a lot of people with nothing to do. It doesn't hurt to be inclusive.

I wish the boss wasnt a plot step unlockable ;-; i have no access to a pc atm and fear that the battle will be over by the time i finish the latest plot step ;~;
The group fighting is a fun idea but, i really wonder now... is it possible to damage this guy with a tier 2 pet? :
oh wait, do they mean this damage? Total Damage: 38 Total Healing: 60
I can battle with my tier 10 pet, but I don't WANT to battle. Battling is my least favorite activity on this site. I would love to see an alternative simply for diversity purposes... both for those that can't battle and those that simple would prefer to do something else (quest, play a game, whatever)
The last time we had a group battle, Tempest I think, prizes were awarded based on total damage. My tier 1 pet did enough total damage to receive a prize more than the people who just hit her for the plot. Damage is cumulative. So yes. Every little bit counts. My pet is currently tier 3 and is doing 120 damage to Jaxon at the most. When he doesn't heal at least. He is probably going to OHK you. I imagine he is doing that to all but the stronger pets and people with better weapons. But all you have to do heal yourself, for free too, and go back in.
I don't really see "I don't have the time" as an excuse for not training your pets. It literally takes a few seconds to click the button and throw the pet into the Training Center. Do it. Even if you can't get on every hour to do it again. Slow progress is better than no progress. The same goes for money. People are dropping shitloads on their wardrobes but they can't do the same for a battle pet? We have been getting no effort achievements and rewards throughout the whole plot. None of the games or steps have been particularly difficult. There's nothing wrong with this part should be rewarded based on effort.
As far as adding ways to participate other than battle. I don't think it's a bad idea. Maybe donating supplies to the Healer? Regardless of it being that, a game, or repeated battling, the people who invest the most time, effort, or money into it are going to be rewarded better than those who don't.
When the site lags down from all the people being on, trying to defeat the boss, I can see this being beneficial in a lot of ways. In others, no.

correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't there an alternative in the luminaire plot a little while back? couldn't people donate Band-Aids and stuff to support the battlers? something like that might be a nice addition.
I wouldn't mind an alternative, although it isn't really necessary. My pet is only tier 4 but I can do a bit of damage and just heal and try again. I'd rather have this than another terrible flash game.
There was no collective battle in this one. There was an alternative, because the top boss was defeatable by single pets, people didn't have to grind at it collectively.
Alternatives should have been implemented at first, not in the smack middle of it.
EDIT : Jaxon has 30 million HP left. He's going to be defeated by tonight. It sucks, but I don't think staff should change things. We did manage to whittle away 170M exp in less than 24 hours, so it's not like it's impossible for people to have a go at him.
I would agree that a last-minute alternative could be added, if we were stuck and there was no way we could defeat him promptly.
But, we're not stuck. On average, we're removing 10M HP an hour. Even if we went at half that rate for the last 30M, it's six hours, meaning Jaxon will be defeated by 8PM Subeta time, at maximum.
If you don't care about battling, battle once, get the achievement and consider your duty done.
