There was a similar suggestion before for gargoyle pets, but it was locked months ago. I still love the idea, so I wanted to revive it and try to take it in a slightly different direction.

The basic idea is for the pets to be made out of roughly-carved stone pieces, and covered with moss and thick vines. The stone would be gray, possibly with a greenish or bluish tint to it. Some things, like the escalade's tails or legeica's mane could also be made of vines, leaves, and possibly tree bark. There could also be some etching in the stone to make it a bit more unique, or left naturally blocky.

The general demeanor would be fairly serene or thoughtful, and maybe a little foreboding (that would work well for pets like the dilemma and mortiking).

Just to get it out of the way, Neopets does already have a pet color like this. It's called "Relic" (I love that name :(), and the pets are smooth stone statues with moss growing on them.

To get away from that, I suggest breaking up the stone rather than having the pets carved in one solid piece. I can see it going in one of two directions:

The first idea draws inspiration from the game Shadow of the Colossus. If you're unfamiliar, the game centers around boss fights with Colossi, which are giant guardian spirits made partly of stone. I really love how the blend gives them a more organic feel rather than just being rigid stone (that somehow magically bends and moves).

The stone color on Subeta could do something similar, with bits of mossy fur and dark flesh peeking out in a few places. It would give the pets a sort of armored appearance.

That's the sort of look I'd prefer, but I can understand if it treads too closely to Shadow of the Colossus. In that case, here's my backup plan:

The pets could be made entirely of stone but still broken up into chunks. This would give them more of a classic golem look. You could either tie the pieces together with vines, or leave them to float separately kind of like Rayman.

Three more examples

Some possible names: Stone, cobblestone, monolithic, gravel, ore, mineral (I think my favorite is cobblestone)

Story-wise, the color could be linked to either the Omen Islands (voodoo magic and all that) or -- assuming nothing else is happening with it during the current Morostide plot -- the path into the woods in Shadowglen. Maybe there's an ancient tomb back there where lost spirits gather, and we can find a way to capture them and use them to bring stone to life.

this is very interesting!! i like the idea and the colors and details could be awesome i would like pets with a more calm and relax vibe, you know? like old statues

Edit: Also I think just because "Neopets did it first" doesn't mean we can't have a similar color. I see that argued a lot on some of the forums here. Sure, it's a reasonable argument but Subeta and Neopets already have a ton of similarities as is. So we've already crossed that line. Personally, I think Sub executes concepts way better than Neopets and this could be without the color feeling like a rip off xD.

this is cool! golem pets as my imaginary protector :P i used to play monster rancher 2 that has golem-like pet. definitely love the idea.

Yesss, I love their creature designs. :D The gameplay's finally gotten stale after all these years, but that game had some amazing visuals.

I remember not supporting gargoyles because of the magnus, but golem pets I'm totally down for. Maybe something with some aztec/mayan inspired carvings, since the Omen Islanders kind of have an aztec/mayan flair to them.

Remember the show Gargoyles when they would come to life at night and crack through their stone skin? I think it would be cool to maybe have a few pets coming out of the stone with some bits of the crushed stone around them.

There can be moss, vines, little plants growing out of the cracks. So many things they could do with a color like this.

Support from me! <3 I'd love a cutie stone pet. I hope they wouldn't have the awk base beneath them like the Neopets do, but I'd love to see them.

I really, really love this idea. Partially because I think it's a tougher version of glade -- which is a color I love, but just needs more grounding for me. And also partially because of your omen islands suggestion. I would love to revisit Omen islands with a pet color. Totally in support of this.

i rather like this idea, especially if they take on kind of a monsterous vibe like the colossi, double-especially if the color name can incorporate the word "monolith" somehow

and you know, i'd really like it if they could have some kind of "constructed by a mysterious ancient civ and NOOOOOBODY KNOOOOOWS what they were built for" mythos, because i love shit like that

I like this idea a lot. I also love the overlay possibilities (as in make pets from different types of stone, like jade, jasper, etc.). :) I already have a pet that would look awesome in this color!

I love this idea!! I also like the screen shots from Shadow of the Colossus, great game. If they named it like 'Relic' pets or 'Stone'pets or something. The item to change them could be like the philosopher's stone from Harry Potter lol.
