I thought all things considered she turned out pretty decent? >< though I think the rear area looks a bit off, maybe because of the wings? >< her lines are meant to be somewhat jagged ^-^ also looking for a commission for coloring since my shadeing and color fails, but not sure which forum that'd go in >< advice appreciated, feel free to red line too as I'm sure I've drawn something or other failingly ^-^ hand-drawn scanned in set to black and white and lined over, I can't draw on computers o~o .7 led mechanical pencil I think. >< only thing I can draw with x.x may be offline soon but'll check in when I get back, thankyouuuu ^-^

edit: there is no lined version anymore, apparently they updated gimp, and I can't seem to get the old version back, and this new B&W erases my lines. if anyone knows how to fix this please let me know, or if anyone knows a new program to use ><; anyway there's the pencil version ;^;

as for a new program Paint.net is not only free but easy to use and works very well,

and the drawing, he only seems to have one and a half front legs (an i understand there is overlapping but if you look at the width of the first front leg and look at the width of the other one at the bottom with one line its way thicker, and infact it should be a little smaller cuz it's in the background)

also even though you are going for hard lines that back leg needs at least a little more wave, and less jagged and stiff (its really out of place and the first thing i noticed in the whole picture which is not good) if you notice every other part of that leg is smooth they don't fit...you could also add a little fur to the legs and more of a second wing because they dont completely overlap...you are missing the other back leg also....

as for the back it would be where the tail connects thats off, i have no advice for this as i am not a big animal artist...I could always do the coloring commission if you want also...

okay now that i've talked about what needs tweaking i gotta say i love the face, the two lines on the ear makes it very unique (and dont let anybody tell you that the nose and mouth is needed because it is not in this picture, although you could if you want to you dont need it) the wings are very beautifully designed in a simplistic way and she has a very nice body arc also

thanks, I'll be sure to have a look at it : D oh yes, haha, I tend to cut all my characters off at the legs generally ^-^; I can play around with the feet though; and I see what you mean if I do decide to cut off there, there needs to be the other side of the other leg to show it's not massive x3; good point on being smaller, I always forget that bit, thank you : D I'm not quite sure what you mean on the leg, but I'll look at it again and see if I can understand it a bit more ^-^; after I saw the comment about the curves and the hard lines I think I see a little of what you meant, the two styles clash? the fur sounds like a good suggestion too, the legs are pretty simple so that might improve them ^-^ I'll check the second wing, I tried to add more but the two wings blended so I wasn't sure.. and as for the last back leg I agree, but couldn't quit figure where to place it.... the tail might explain it, I'll look over it too ^-^ if you have a board or an example and price range I'd love to have a look at that thankyou : D

the face was actually the thing I was worried about most, so I'm glad that you seem to like it, I'm glad I managed the lines alright, thankyou : D and thankyou on the nose and mouth comment, I'm happy she seems to be alright without them, I rarely give my characters mouths, and most of my animals don't have noses XD; I also was concerned on the wings, happy to hear the simplistic works though and I generally emphasize the body arc more, so I'm relieved to here it came through. ^-^ I'm sorry for the rushed comment but my friend is harassing me to check her mail >< I appreciate the advice though and I'd love to discuss some more : D

I looove redlining~ So here´s it And now I´m going to tell you some things, firstly, I think that you should look for anatomy tutorials or start looking for photos to use as reference, because it helps a lot; you can also look for quad artists, so you can have a inspiration, my biggest inspirations are Kuitsuku, LimeKink and khalamithy (all of them are in deviantart). You can do like I used to: if I was having some problems with a pose or things like ears, tails, paws, etc. I just went take a look at kuitsuku´s gallery and see how she do those things. And that´s how I created my own style, based in some artists art (mainly kuitusku´s haha). Anyway,you don´t need to know how to do digital art to creat a great art, no, you can improve your tradicional skills~ (but you will have to start coloring your pics) well, I don´t know many tradicional artists , but kankakanka (at deviantiart) is a an amazing one. Well, now just some final things: I thing that the mouth is not really needed , but I miss a nose there; if you want to make a character express emotions, a mouth is necessary and maybe eyebrows too (some people don´t like them...). And you did a nice job with the wings, I just think that they could be bigger, but I know that in tradicional art making something bigger or smaller is hard (that´s what I hate about tradicional art haha). Oh, I think that´s all :>

soo sorry for the late reply, i've been busy lately....i'm glad you saw what i mean about all my sugestions and that i was able to compliment the things you were most proud of (because i know it sucks sometimes when you think you did one thing particularly well and then someone comes up to you and tells you its the sucky-est part of the picture and the first thing they noticed wrong) an example of my digitalized art is: this i actually use the actually drawing with some brightness/contrast changes as lineart a lot of the time (including in this picture) and i actually won't charge anything to digitalize it as i need the practice

Paint.net is a photo editing item though. Those don't work quite as well as actual painting programs do.

Try mypaint which is here: http://mypaint.intilinux.com/ it's intended to handle illustrations and has a wide variety of brushes unlike many photo editing suites.

I think your drawing is pretty cute, but it's too bad that you didn't draw the full body and paws. Also, maybe you should've added more detail to the eyes.

About drawing with the computer, I was really bad at it as well, but I've been practicing a lot. I always use ms paint, because it isn't such a complicated program xD Have you ever tried using a tablet? It might be easier because it's more like drawing on a piece of paper than drawing with the mouse.

no worries I'm very busy as well so I completely understand and appologize fr mine as well ^-^;;; I definitely know what you mean. I drew a picture once that I was hardcore proud of, first thing my mom said was 'are those boobs? is she naked?' it was a furry. and she wasn't my character it was for a contest, and it wasn't even detailed -.- I ended up killing it and trashing it ;-;" anyway she should be fairly simple to color for the most part, I can pay you a bit for color though and I'd love to have the lineart fixed if you can : D the background clashes with the white page if it doesn't get removed and I'm not sure how i'll do that now ><; I'll work on the lines a tad more, and PM you with the finished product when it's ready : D thank you so much ^-^
