Long time battlers/fighters, this is for you.
I've gone through the various lists of scrolls, weapons, curses/blessings and whatnot and honestly, it's a lot to try and absorb. Obviously, a lot is through trial and error. I'm at tier 3 w/ my main pets and I feel like I'm not getting the grasp of things. In other words, it seems as though I'm not putting together the correct combinations of weapons/scrolls/misc items to further my pet. Maybe it's just wishful thinking that I should be doing better but I know that experienced people, if they can remember, would have invaluable insight in to what helped them through the lower tiers. I know the phoenix quill is of utmost importance, but I haven't justified spending the sP to get it if it only heals for one turn. IMO, that's a lot of work (earning) to get a weapon that heals just one time. Especially, as put it in another post, that pet does 1800 worth of damage and your pet is only 1200. Complete waste.

Perhaps it's just that I should continue focusing on training and then battle more when I get to about 800-1000 of stats on all levels (except level, of course). Idk. (And yes, I've more recently started doing more BQ - only b/c 4 of my pets can now do them... well, about half of them, maybe. Repetitive battling of the opponent you've already beat does nothing for you... not enough, to me.)

So I ask my fellow battle buddies - Did you even have a default weapon set at Tier 3? What did it comprise of? What scrolls did you use that helped you through the tiers? (My main battle pets have over 20AP.)

Do you remember being at this stage? :(

The Phoenix Quill DOES become a much bigger asset to your set as your pet grows. Frankly I rely heavily on it for a lot of my battles and all my battlers get it in their set. When you start going up against the bigger challengers that 100% heal could mean win or lose all depends on the battle. Personally I find it starts gaining better momentum around tier 7+ not only that but you can pair it with a healing weapon AND a healing scroll to gain back even more HP to counterbalance the challengers damage.

They will hit hard but don't forget if you train and have another weapon with you that can soften the blow that heal will be just what you need to get you through another round. AND the P-Quill does not take up the healer slot so you're free to have a second (or sometimes THIRD) healer to help you out.

Always good to get it and hold onto it. You want to be a good battler you're gonna end up spending a lot as time goes on. There's a lot to be invested when it comes to battling but in the end it's always so worth it.

I have 2 pets right now at tier 2-3 respectably. Personally the lower tiers are tricky but in a sense they can be the most fun because you're working with a challenge here, relying on smaller weapons to help you get those wins. As for what I use?

-Tier 1 and scales with your pet. It offers a little healing and that gets stronger as your pet gets stronger.

It heals you 8% each turn and it never goes away. Not too expensive to make and doesn't take up too many AP. It doesn't offer any damage/blocking icons but it's a nice healer for the smaller pets until you get the chance to upgrade to a Terra Focujin.

-High chance to freeze, doesn't have a heal but does some decent icon damage. Good for those pesky challengers who annoy you. Though not so good against the ones with freezing disabled.

I don't really have much else to add myself, a few other weapons aren't really 'cheap' but they also scale with your pet as well. But anyway I hope this helps a little and I'm sure many other more amazing and well versed battlers can aid you better. Good luck!

^steals, not 100% iirc

^Once per battle, but sets up blessing that heals 20hp, blocks 6 of wind/dark/earth (10 turns) only like 900 sp lol

^Once per battle. heals 100 hp, blocks 1 of each icon. More of a poverty phoenix quill

Good healer/attacker combo. 10-12 icon damage. 20-25hp heal.

and what Virus said is solid. The P-Quills importance shows up later on when your pet grows. Often times people are a few turns away from defeating an opponent. The full heal gives them that chance.

and if an opponent is doing 1800 damage while youre only healing 1200, perhaps the opponent is currently too strong, or one just needs to block more icons.

When tiers were introduced, Elfric was T4, but I used a few weapons from T3! ^^

A lot of staple weapons (IE, Shinwas Temple Shard, Reviver of the Lion, Amulet of Neutrality) are OPB, but as your pet grows, you'll learn what strategy works best for you. They give you a chance to plan your next move.

The PQuill has saved my hide multiple times, and I wish I had purchased it sooner when Elfric was T6 & 7. I'd probably have fewer losses against Fish Breath and Slavam. xD

As others mentioned, it may not be useful now, but it will be before you know it. ;)

Some weapons I'd recommend: 5th loot drop from Big Banner. <1mil sPs in user shops. attack: 6 Water, 7-9 Physical, 4-5 Ice (17-20 icons) Heals 15 HP and small chance to freeze, does not take up healer or freezer spots.

<400k in user shops Blocks 2-3 every icon, semi-breakable.

Ditto on the KT Ring and Icy Freezing Rod of Doom.

Thank you and for the advice! It makes more sense to get the phoenix quill later, as opposed to now. (Plus it gives me time to save up. :D ) I've been using the reviving pylonic and that has really helped when I needed just one or two more turns to beat an opponent.
I have a couple of the weapons mentioned and have added them to my default weapon list, although it's not a complete one yet.

You're very welcome! x3 Yes, pylonics are especially useful. The glaciating one has a chance to freeze your opponent, but it doesn't always cooperate. xD

Also, I recommend using the elemental shards, as they each full-block their respective element. They're one use, but they're very helpful guarding against the elements your opponent deals the most frequent or most painful.

Check out Tonks' general guide for BC challengers: [topic not found] She's listed the weapons they use, plus the elements they dish out, so you can be better prepared against them.

and others - I just bought a few of the weapons that you guys recommended on this page and I have to say, without battling yet, that it's probably the most useful sP I've spent since I made some of my first scrolls. :) I completely missed that thread, Metroid, and was wondering if there was s/thing out there exactly like that so thanks again! Very useful!! <3 Oh btw - I do use the shards and other pylonics quite frequently. I just had that happen w/ the glaciating pylonic when I was trying to beat an opponent that was way more stronger than I. No effect. :(
Just got the Tome of Light from the Mage and was considering making the Galactic Beatdown scroll. My main pets have the AP for it. Are there any like this (Genetech combo, I believe) that are used w/ frequency? I saw the Terra Focujin mentioned by Virus.

only offence with no defence or heal is not worth it unless you have a lot of health or battling rare no heal opponents . Also the p-quill is on sale only in summer so if you dont get one in this summer , the rest 9 months you would have to fork out an even inflated sum for it .

You're in luck, there's a new weapons guide being worked on by , and ! Here's the anchor link to the post about ">recommended scrolls.

's got a comprehensive list of scrolls HERE.

Based Galactic Beatdown's stats, I'd advise against it and use the tome on Kamisama for some boosts in stats.

Of the Genetech scrolls, I'd say Holy Deluge (10% heal). Aero Subzero (chance to freeze) and Spacial Abyss are the best of them all.

Spacial Abyss is an excellent Genetech OPB scroll that blocks a lot of elements, but it has -7% heal. That type of scroll will be beneficial in the future against opponents that have healing disabled (so then the -7% doesn't affect you) or when your pet's HP is high enough to sustain the -7%.

Though with Soothing Currents (8% heal) and Winter Spirit (chance to freeze) being cheaper option, you might want to consider them instead of the Genetech ones for now. I don't know if Aero Subzero has a higher freeze rate than Winter Spirit, so I'll probably investigate that.

<3 Just an update for the day and then I'll start posting in the BC thread... I looked into making 3 of the level 5 scrolls and I gotta say, it's actually cheaper to buy both the quill and the cobalt scroll. Hell, even the Galactic Beatdown scroll was cheaper to make. :( Sooo... I bought the cobalt scroll and will buy the quill tomorrow (thank you Anasazi for letting me know it was a summer item) and then I'll work on getting the more expensive ingredients for the scrolls suggested in this thread.

Again, to everyone, thanks so much for the advice. 💗
