Is 'emo' even a genre? Because that sounds ridiculous. Emo means Emotional so..I wouldn't consider what you listen to Emo.

From what I see they're just main stream bands, not necessarily emo. Whoever told you that should go jump off a bridge or something, because if they think that's emo than anything country must be too.

In which I just laughed. Because that's pretty much calling the entire teenage population scene. I know every or at least close to every person at the school I go to likes or has listened to a song from one of those bands. Again, it's just main stream.

See! And like I said, 3OH!3 is so much love, they make up their own genre, in my opinion. They're rap, hip-hop, electronnic, dance and then with "Colorado Sunset" its a mix up of alot of things. XD

I would really like to know if emo is actually a genre of music. But seriously the fucking misfits? They were here before emo was even a word.

Emo WAS a genre of music. It began in the late 80's, through the 90's, and now, well, it's dead now. And no, The Misfits aren't emo. But apparently, The Misfits are popular amoungst the "goth-type emos". So, there goes people calling them emo. Man, I've read Everybody Hurts too many times. :/

I don't consider emo a genre at all. And the people that claim bands are emo are stuffed in the head (because they prefer rap for one thing). I don't see how looks/personalities of the band members determine a bands genre.

Screamo is a genre, but that's rock music primarily, just with screams in my opinion. Some bits in Papa Roach can be considered screamo.
