Yes, I've been in the forum for some time now and I think it's funny when people edit their post for some reason (not the big [*edit] thing, just for adding something or correcting the grammar) and they explain in the post why they edited.
Why?
Do we really have to justify the little " Last Edit by: ... " ? Do you do it, why?
Most people are used to just hitting the edit button and editing things rather than including the actual [*edit] tag. It might be out of habit from ... basically most boards on the internet having that feature? I don't find it to be a big deal, and will do it if I end up making a typo or something...doesn't mean everyone intentionally changes their post to appear nicer/whatever; and thus no one really should have to justify their edits, either.
I'd be more amused if someone threw a fit over others editing.
Shuvva - Yes, me too at some point I thought about the subeta rules but I've read them all and...nothing seems to be wrong in editing.
Satire - Haha, me too, I always make 432908 typo since english is not my first language and I was scared that someone gets angry because of the editing XD
See, see, Typosss XD
I think it used to be a rule? I heard someone say that before but idk
If I add the reason why usually its because I'm laughing at myself for misspelling a word(s), leaving a word out or just getting something straight out wrong. Sometimes if after a few minutes I have more to add but no one's replied, I'll put Edit followed by whatever I have to say.
I think for me its kind of a habit after coming from a forum that some people would jump on you if you edited and didn't state the exact reason why.
"Just because I don't care doesn't mean I don't feel Just because I don't feel doesn't mean I don't understand" IAMX- The Unified Field ....... "Plastic people don't got nothing to say They're judging me, I'm judging you We ain't got nothing else to do" Palaye Royale - No Love In LA | | |
I don't usually tell why I edited or anything. I'm too lazy.
Sherbet - Ohhh Maybe! I don't know, mmm I must find an old user and ask Frogbook - Woo, some forums are weird, what is the point of skipping a person that edited a post?
I dont care to inform people why I've edited, because most of the time, I edit to fix typos
I personally don't announce it to the world when I edit a post because I'm an insecure baby who does not like to acknowledge my mistakes for a second. Laaawwwl.:(
...
I sometimes put in something like "ETA." The little edit bar can be obnoxious to use.
Not skipping them. Calling them names and saying bad things about them. i.e. (of course all in chatspeak)
Person1- blahblah... last edited at time here Person2- Hey you edited your post! Why did you? Person3- Haha person1's a idiot. You should have read what they said about "person34" before they edited.
Then it goes down hill from there with person1 defending themselves and person34 being brought in because their name was mentioned.
Those that did it were the ones that thought they "owned" the forums. It became habit for the newbies to say why they edited because of what they saw. Trolls are trolls. Sometimes when you stop feeding them they bite back harder.

OMG! I was wanting to post this topic for such a long time! xD I'm glad someone did
But yeah, I really don't get it, It's like... Edited because I spelled Hi wrong
Really, I don't see a reason to post why you posted it xD Oh well! lol
EDIT: Edited because I see what is trying to say, and I agree! xD
Oh man, I'm so glad I'm not the only one. Everytime I see 'editted for typos', I go why, what's the point?
I mean, people that read your reply pre-edit will already know that you messed up, when people that read it post-edit will now know you messed up.
Honestly, I've never once been like ohhh, they editted their post. WONDER WHAT THEY PUT.
Kit_kat - Same for me.
Metaphor - XD
Magica - Okayy, I've got to tell you, you're HA is sooo funny! it's such a good idea. Yes, I know the edit bar is kinda ugly to use.
Frogbook - wtf. This is one of the things I like about subeta, it's friendly and smooth, most of the time.
FatalitY - Hahah, I edited to see what you've post, and reply XD
geek - XDD Yes, exactly. You have to edit really fast if you don't want people to see your typos.
Heyyy I edited my post, aren't you glad to know why?
I dont, not really.. i might say:
EDIT: this is what I might say.
But I dont say
Edited for grammar errors.
Sometimes though its just because what I edited was really silly :P earlier I found out about a name change, and called them by their old name, so I edited that.. didnt say why, though. (Amore and Justice, lulz.)
[flower=violette]
I've edited when someone pointed out something I had wrong. Then I had to explain that I did edit it or that other person's post wouldn't make sense to anyone reading it. Someone would be pointing out that I had something wrong when I no longer do.
Anyways I thought this was an amusing thread title:
Excuse me, I edited my post
My first thought was - if you haven't posted yet, how do you know you are going to be editing it? xD
Edited just for the hell of it.
BrittanyGirl - Hahah, me too I explain when it's really silly.
Delirium - Oh you're right, it never happend to me but I would do the same, probably saying like "Thank you to blabla for pointing out bla bla..." Thank you, I didn't know what to right really without saying the whole " I find it funny when people explain why they edited their post" XD
I do understand it when people just edited because a special reason (like someone felt insultet about something or you had a mistake that has something to do with the topic itself.... But mostly they need to tell you they just misspelled something or whatever - how interesting. That's so unnecessary.
