I'm sorry, but am I the only one who hates it when people say this? I appreciate the artists. I really do. I know they work hard. But I HATE it when EVERY TIME someone has a suggestion, they get bombed with people talking about how tired those poor artists are. UMM, THEY WORK HERE. IT'S THEIR JOB TO DO STUFF FOR THE SITE.
I don't hate it when people say that. I'm pretty sure the artists have other jobs too and the amount of items they dish out each month is pretty insane - especially when it comes to event time.
I appreciate them and I feel bad that they do so much work and go unrecognized! ILYALL.
I'm neutral on this point, for the most part. While I know it is their job to draw new stuff, and I think suggestions are not out of the question, it's just when people come up with a ridiculous amount of ideas and expect the artists to get to it when I think it's too high of expectations..
Hmm, my wording there is kind of iffy. Hope it made sense.
It's not every time that people make suggestions that people get upset. It's when people make ridiculous suggestions.
I kid you not, I saw a thread where people were asking that everything be made wearable.
Wow, everything? Yeah, I agree that that's ridiculous.
But I hoped that at least one person would see where I'm coming from.
I have to say it pretty much depends on the situation. If someone suggested to create a pregnant HA, that would be troublesome and I'd stick to the artists' side.
I hate when people make it seem like the artists are slaving away in a hot drawing room for 15 cents a day with shackles around their feet while Keith bangs away at the war drum.
Oh wait... I don't think I've seen people complain about something like that yet.
I do get irked when people make rude comments about the actual piece itself. But its one of those " alright, lets see you do better" situations for me.
As far as people with actual suggestions being nagged at... haven't seen it happen too much, but I can see where that would be annoying. I'm pretty sure the artists here do what they do because they love it.

The idea that the artists are unappreciated is pretty funny to me.
Until people that complain are actually on staff and an artist (something most of them don't/won't have the talent, will-power or patience to do, not trying to be rude, but it's the truth.) and see just how much work goes into everything, anything the real rude complainers say is less than a grain of salt. We aren't magical beings that can just workworkwork and get everything right the first time in the snap of a finger, but a lot of people don't understand. So whatever. "The poor artist" doesn't really bother me, but not that I like it. It IS my job, which is basically work to please, which I try my best to do - and there are some that never will be. Can't do anything about it but let them moan. I stopped feeling sorry for it a while ago.
QFT, shooting a suggestion down with the "the artists are poor and tired and awwwwww" argument really fly in my book. It's a voluntary job, and I doubt they'd be drawing stuff if they weren't up for it.
I chat to a small number of the artists and they've all expressed the knowledge that without us users they wouldn't have these jobs. We need them to make us new items and keep our gaming interesting but they equally need us to keep gaming and spending money in the cash shop.
That said, they aren't here to pander to our every beck and call.
The artists have said time and again that they welcome suggestions if they are given in the correct areas of the site. There is a suggestion center for a reason. The artists do actually read through it.
Then there are forum threads about what people would love the artists to draw. Pets, items and wearables alike.
In a news post about new art is not the place. The comments of any news post about items and pets should be kepts for feedback on those specific items and pets. Sadly many users don't understand this and how their 'GLADE MAGNUS PLZ' type comments will make the aritsts of the newly posted items/pets feel unappreciated and undervalued.
That is often why people say 'poor artists'.
It's funny, because I don't think any member of the Creative Department has ever really wanted to have the "AW POOR ARTISTS" defence rolled out on their behalf. They're all actually pretty eloquent and forthright individuals, more than capable of asserting themselves when they deem necessary.
I suppose it's nice to have people stick up for you, I'm just pointing out that everyone I know from the CD is MORE than capable of sticking up for themselves.
honestly, I know that artists are gonna get critisim all the time, and why most of them take it personally is beyond me... considering when you take a job like this people are going to have opinions about their work- even if they are good or bad. It's just like when there is a new person introduced as a celebrity singer. Some people like their voice, some do not. It's a matter of opinion people are aloud to have and they know that that is exactly what they are asking for when they take the job. So yup. ^^

have some pie 🥧
Unless the criticism is constructive, people should really think about how hard the artists have worked before they type their complaints. Well yeah, they shouldn't complain at all.
I, myself appreciate the lovely artwork here on Subeta.
Your point? I get tired doing my job every single day. I'm not entitled? @.@
Most of us take it personally? Are you sure about that? Because we don't. Yes. We get pissed off sometimes when the same thing is repeated x100, or are completely NONCONSTRUCTIVE crits. We take actual, helpful criticism just fine. A redline that completely ignores the pets anatomy because you think it looks better? Not helpful. Saying something looks horrible and not saying why ? Not helpful. Saying the artist that drew x should get fired? Not helpful.
I agree, somewhat. I hate the "omg give them a break jeez!1" people, but I hate the "artists don't do this that or the other" ones even more :x
There's really no point saying that they "deserve a break", because that isn't possible. If they took a break, then there's no point paying them :P
But the people who say that they need to do more are even worse... I bet they don't even realize how long it takes to draw ONE item, nevermind a set. (note: I'm talking about the abundance of clothing recently released).
I think if people are saying the artists don't work hard enough they deserve to be stood up for. But other than that it is their job.
First of all, most of the comments I have seen in conjunction with the poor artists defense is when people are responding with ridiculousness. Either that or they are criticizing and the criticisms are not constructive. Take the last wig that was released for example, how many people complained about that in the comment section. Granted it is their right to do so, I do not want it taken away from them. However, it is illogical to think that they are not going to react to someone saying their work is junk. (let's face it that is what happened there).
Second of all, how would you like someone to come to your work and give you nonconstructive criticism, basically flame everything that you do :D. It amounts to the same thing.
I had to quote this since because I wanted to touch on nonconstructive criticism before I read your post. It makes sense to get upset if they are just going to complain about something that they do not like but offer no suggestions that could be made to them (things do get revamped so suggestions could actually be a good thing).
I do not think I have actually said those poor artists before, but I do know I have said that people should complain less about some of the art work that they do. Sure, it is there job but drawing is hard work. If you do not like an art work of an item do not get it, simple as that :P
Okay, getting a little pissed off. I appreciate the artists' work. A lot. And I haten it when people insult/give non constructive criticism/are downright rude. But THAT'S NOT what I made the topic about, and people seem to be thinking that it is and that I don't appreciate the work/don't mind it when people are rude.
