so i've probably made this rant before, but i feel it's necessary to talk about people who don't read your first post. this happens very often, and usually i can overlook it because it's small things, but it's actually got to the point where someone has said to me:
"oops, i didn't read your first post."
W... WHAT?
WHY, may i ask... would you even think it was a good idea to post without reading the OP? what good could come from that? w-what? the only thing i can see happening - which always DOES happen if not by some stroke of luck - is making your post seem extremely irrelevant, ignorant or both. it actually makes me rage so hard. if i wasn't such a pansy i would probably just ignore people when they didn't read the OP, regardless of whether or not it was my thread, but i just can't do it.
FML start reading, you didn't go to school for nothing!

EUUUGHHH. This especially bugs me when it happens in my art shop. I clearly say in my first post, there is no slot claiming, read this or die, I have your children - and they still don't read it. I mean, seriously - what the flying fuck. -rage-
But seriously, I've had to start adding things like 'please include the word [wordhere] in your post' to get my point across.
Oh my gosh, that would piss me off so bad! :x I mean come on...how do you respond to a post if you didn't even READ the original one?
[edit]
Oh gosh, especially in the selling and giveaway threads...
I would do that, but somehow I think it would come across as really pretentious when you're buying art as opposed to selling it. ): "sry, but if you want to draw art for me, you need to post this word!"

The people who are actually willing to do the art for you though are probably the ones who are going to read through your whole post. So it might seem that way but you could put like; Sorry I seem like an ass here but I'm sick of people ignoring what I say, so here's how it is. xD
ugh, i hate it when people do that. especially if the post is just something like "u r doing a grat job. gfx/art plz" in the graphic and art markets. maybe they looked at an example or two of mine, saw slots were open and scrolled down super fast to get "lul slot claim, u gais r 2 slow." it happens so often that it's one of the major reasons why i don't do first come first serve anymore. the other reason is that it gives me an excuse not to do ridiculous requests ;p
i understand if they're just stopping in to compliment my work and run so they get +1 post count, that doesn't bother me so much. but trying to win me over without reading so i'll make a banner of l lawliet or draw their crazy sexy vampire bishie just doesn't fly by me. i usually ignore.
if someone really wants to order something but missed a key part of the post, i'm enough of a doormat to let it go. i edit 95% of my posts because i didn't notice things that i should have, so making them suffer wouldn't be very nice of me.
EDIT: look, i'm editing even now!
While I've never experienced that, your OP has taught me what OP means, and I'm forever grateful.
people who don't read the op obviously aren't looking to have their 'replies' read.
imbeciles.
i know how to read just fine, thank you
edit; oops, didn't read your first post.
I must admit, there are times when I'll skim a heap of posts in a thread, because I recognize the username or avatar of various users whose posts I KNOW I can't be bothered with. XD
Reading the FIRST POST seems pretty straight forward though, really.
.. Just imagine these people trying to interact with people in the real world, though!
Everyone's around the watercooler, talking about how delicious jellybabies are, then along comes exhibit A; the assumption-making dumbass. OMG U CAN'T EAT BABIES WTF. DOLCE AND CABANNIBALISM IS ILLEGAL, HELLOOO.
xD I also hate it when people can't write/spell X-x; Technically, posting random garb on a thread = spam... which is reportable p:

That's beyond stupid. I thought the point of going into a thread was to actually read the content. What's the point of skipping the first post? I rarely see it on Subeta thankfully.
It happened a lot on Neopets. I can remember going into the HC (help chat) there where I was asking for mathematical help. I wanted to estimate the worth of my gallery. So this one regular comes in and replies to me in the snobbiest way ever "This forum is for NEOPETS related questions only, NOT homework help. Now stop being lazy and do it yourself!"
The gallery WAS Neopets related. Certainly wasn't homework. I asked her to please read the first post and she replied back saying that she didn't need to read the first posts, because I should have made it clear in my title. She accused me of being lazy as well, but I think not being able to read a couple of sentences one of the most laziest things ever.
I really REALLY hope that the majority of Subeta users are better than this. So far so good!
Heh, I think I only actually managed to contain myself. I hate people like that.
I tend to read the first 2-3 pages of posts before responding. If it's a really long thread, I read the first few posts.
You know I can actually understand claiming a slot (in art shops obviously) without reading the first post, if you're the FIRST to post and the artist is very popular.
I've lost slots by taking time to read the OP and going through a novel to see if there was a slot claim.
If the artist is supah populah and I'm the first to post i'll look really fast but if i dont see anything i'll just claim, and then read and then edit. That way i don't lose slots and it's really no big deal if I get it wrong, as I'll edit right away and apologize if I got it wrong!
Other than that, I always read the OP and a few times i'll read the following posts as well!
it's more annoying in an Roleplay, when there's several pages of posts and somebody keeps asking for summaries every other page. It's not that hard to read the darned story if you really want to keep up. It's more annoying still if somebody HAS taken the time to post a summary and not two posts after that, somebody else asks for a summary again.
Yeah, I find it kind of annoying. The first post in your art buying thread is pretty long, but your quote box at the end seems pretty clear to me. I try to make important info really obvious if it has to do with art threads.
Although it's usually only a problem for me when people are trying to claim slots quickly and don't read... I think it's kind of funny someone tried to sell to you without looking at your post. o:
I don't understand how you can even begin to respond to something without reading not only the first post but a majority of posts, or just the ones that seem well thought out. What do you possibly have to contribute from reading only the title?
