I was debating over this with my mom this past October, and she finally caved and let me go out trick or treating with my brother (he's 12). I was dressed as Fierce Deity (Oni) Link from The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, complete with a plastic Crusader sword (the twisty one was too hard to make from cardboard xD) and my brother went as Slash. He even brought one of our GH3 controllers. :D

But, here comes the question. This Halloween, I'll be 15, since my birthday was in April. I would love to check out the neighborhood and snag some candy, but I don't know if I should, since I'll be a sophomore by then. I was thinking about dressing up as either Allison from this season of American Idol (I could even style my hair like hers) or perhaps Princess Zelda (now that would be fun).

So, here's my main question. Is 15 too old to go trick or treating? Cos I could just chill and hand out candy and dress up, but it's not as fun as getting the candy. :o

I personally stopped after grade 8, when I moved on to high school. I was so tall as a kid that people refused me candy when I was 12, thinking I was too old, so by the time I was 14 I was sick and tired of being mistaken for someone 18+.

My rule of thumb: as long as the person coming to my door is costumed, they get candy. And there has to be a little effort in the costume too, no 20 year old punks trying to pass off their regular street clothes as something special for the sake of the holiday. I've never seen anyone over the age of 30 trick-or-treating before though...if a 50 year old showed up I may have to draw a line there :P

this kid i knew was 12 last halloween and dressed in a pretty awesome homemade costume. while other parents complimented him on his costume, he was still the only kid his age walking around the neighborhood.

perhaps my neighborhood is different than most... but i personally think that 10ish is a good time to stop TnTing the neighborhood. perhaps having a halloween party is more appropriate for the older kids.

I've seen a 30-40 year old man dressed as Dorothy from the Wizard of OZ stop to trick-or-treat with his kids at my house. I gave him candy because he was enjoying it with his kids. I think the age limit to trick-or-treat is 50, unless you're with your children. Its fun, and you get free candy. I'll be 15 this year, and I'll be out there with my 15+ year-old friends ringing doorbells for free candy.

As long as you're having fun, I (personally) think it's perfectly fine to go trick or treating at your age. Hell, I knew people who did up until they graduated high school.

And if you think people will think you're weird or whatever, younger siblings or cousins are great excuses.

I was (and still am) 15 when I went trick-or-treating last year (: I got a bit of crap from these kids in the grade below me (who were dressed - very uncreatively - as sluts. Stood on a street corner, no less) but I just smiled my vampire-toothed smile, 'cause I had candy >:] Dunno if I'll be going this year, but only because I dunno if my friends will be going, and I certainly don't wanna go solo D:

Edited because Subeta's emoticons hate me.

Hah, I so hope he does! Adam's da bomb! >:D

I'll see if I can go with my little bro. I might get him to spike his hair a bit in front, bring an acoustic guitar, wear some semi-nice clothes, and make him go as Kris. xD That'd be amazingerful. Since he doesn't have the right hair to be Adam. ;D

You're only too old when people call the cops on you, thinking you're trying to TOT for children instead of candy.

I'd do it, and I'm 16, except there are very few people still living in these houses now.

I'd still go trick or treating by the next Halloween, and I'll be 23. :P I say it's fine until you have kids of your own, and that if you do still trick-or-treat, it should be with them, not by yourself. :P I don't know...but either way, it's all in good fun, so who cares ? :) Just don't go around scaring little kids. :P

In my opinion, you never get too old for trick-or-treating. My best friend and I are planning to go out in her neighborhood this Halloween dressed as Cap'n K'nuckles(her) and Flapjack(me) and we're both going to be 16 by then.

I was 17 last year, and I'll be 18 this year...

But I plan on trick-or-treating simply because I go with my fiance's little sister who's 8 I believe and I go with my little sister who's 4. If people refuse me candy that's fine, the 4 year old can only have so much ;]

Ohh man, I want to go as Adam now. My hair's too long though, and not black, but if I tried hard enough, I bet I could make it work.

Other than that, all I'd have to do would be to wear a leather jacket, leather fingerless gloves, a grey-black t-shirt, some kind of necklace, TIGHT pants, a belt with dangling chains, black nail polish, and eyeliner. :D

I personally don't agree with trick or treating, I don't believe it's appropriate at any age to go around demanding sweets.

However, I wouldn't be concerned. Where I live, in the South of England, we regularly have people as old as 18 trick or treating. -shrug- But it depends from place to place - do you have an idea of how old the trick or treaters are roughly in your area?

My last year ToTing was when I was 14, and I had to drag my friends out with me then. XD To me, I think after 14-15, kids should stop ToTing. If you're old enough to get a job and buy the candy for yourself, no free candy for you! :( Hehe.

I have the same rule. I have refused to give candy to teens before when they have no costume. :P

I told myself I'd stop at 18, and I did. That was my last year... I didn't go last year (I didn't even dress up) and I doubt I'll do it this year... but I usually steal some candy from my best friend and I'll dig through our candy bowl, so it's all good. =P

If there were more costume parties around here, I'd totally dress up and go to them... but I live in the middle of nowhere (aka Eastern Kentucky) so there's nothing that I know of that goes on around here like that. D; At least, nothing good anyway...

I went trick-or-treating this past Halloween, and I'm eighteen o_o I don't see why there needs to be an age limit- trick-or-treating is fun! As long as you dress up and just want some candy, I don't see why your age matters, tbh
