i was blocked by a user for apparently being rude to them in the rate the above avatar thread and i really don't understand at all how i was being rude. i gave them a low-ish rating, but i thought their avatar deserved it...this is what i said.

i didn't mention any names, so i figured this sort of thread would be allowed, but lock/clear whatever you need to do if it isn't. i just wanted to know if anyone else interprets this as rudeness. do i need to lay off the 'tude? :( would an emoticon have remedied this situation?

this seems to be the general sort of critique i see people giving in that thread and i've never had someone tell me my rating was rude (much less /block/ me because they didn't like my rating). i know i didn't name any specific items the user could have used to make the avatar better, but i did tell them they were off to a good start and i thought that was decent of me.

i don't know, maybe i'm too sensitive but i was really kind of upset by this. like everybody else i'm sure, i've gotten some bad ratings and some good ratings but i've certainly never taken to a user's profile to tell them that their rating of my avatar was rude even though they were obviously trying to be helpful not to mention complimentary.

If anyone asks for anything to be rated, they should be able to handle any kind of critique, regardless of rudeness. Not that you were rude, it seems fair + constructive + honest to me. Plus, you gave them over 5. so it's not like it's even below half o-0;

i think you gave some good advice, if they decide to take it the wrong way then thats their own problem. n_n

i've only been blocked twice. once by a random user i'd never seen/don't know and now. and yeah, i thought it was pretty fair, all things considered. if someone had given me a similar rating, i would have taken their suggestions into account and been glad they told me i was doing alright so far.

i can't stand when someone asks to be rated and then tells me that my rating was wrong.

omg can i also use this thread to complain that you got the username i was going to ISS to if i ever got an iss (aka never) D: congrats/whine LMAO, but thank you. i didn't think it was bad advice or rude :- but i know irl i can come off sort of short and harsh sometimes. i didn't think that was one of those times, though.

This was not rude, this was critique. If this person can't stand critique she shouldn't go to the Rating forums, it's so easy. I thought oyu rated this user 2/10 or the like but 6/10 was okay. You even gave suggestions how to improve.

You gave them a 6 which isn't THAT terrible in the first place.

Also, you gave them a constructive criticism. I could understand if you said

"3/10" or "3/10. I don't like it." for example but you're trying to help them out.

I don't do the whole rate my HA thing so I don't know how I would react to (constructive) criticism.

I'm not going to say if they should or shouldn't have blocked you because I'm not them but I personally don't think it was rude but there are more negatives than positives in what you said (which isn't necessarily a bad thing of course) but I can kinda see where somebody might get their feelings hurt if they're sensitive to things like that.

But, then again, they are asking to be rated.

yeah, i don't really mind that they blocked me. i mean, i find it kind of silly, but i've been blocked for less things and at least they sort of had a reason in their mind anyway. i just wanted to see if other people thought the rating/critique was as rude as this person thought it was because if it is, it's pretty much the same as all my other ratings and i don't want to be spreading my rudeness/unhelpfulness all over the boards. :p yeah, she also told me i could have been more helpful and that i "gave her no ideas on what to do with it" which is just untrue...

Not only you haha Some people like your HA, others don't. This person will learn it someday... hopefully.

Well you know, the way I see rating is that 5/10 is the average, so 6/10 to me means it's slightly above average, haha.

Personally I think that people really need to calm down about human avatars sometimes? I love making them and pretty much all my time making money to buy wearables, but I think some people get too serious business about it. Blocking somebody over a rating is quite lame.

What they did was stupid. They posted on a rating's board therefore they're opening themselves up to either praise or criticism. Yours wasn't rude at all. It was concrit, the best sort of criticism someone can give. Instead of taking the time to tell you how rude you were and blocking you, they could have listened to your advice, changed their avatar a bit and got a better rating...

Don't beat yourself up about it, okay? You weren't rude, you just happened to rate someone who couldn't take a bit of concrit.

Your advice was clear and concise, no childish namecalling or blatant bitchy attitude was involved. If someone will get butthurt for getting real advice...then they can suck it. XD

I dont see anything rude in that post. Someone asked for your opinion and decided that they didnt want to hear it, because they think their HA is way better than you do. It happens. :P Probably a younger or newer user. You have nothing to worry about. :)

Like everyone else here I can't find anything rude. You just were honest and actually DID tell the person where you see issues. Item suggestions are not required to rate a HA adjuvant. After all it's not your duty to MAKE the HA.

A rating like 5 or 6 is not very liked but where is the problem when you just give your honest opinion. The world will not end because of that. We'r talking about HAs after all.
