be it the image asking for help with the sick cat or other, all those images are actually starting to really annoy me. I have already blocked about 15 different "ads" images that use to pop up regularly on top of any page, but they still come back. It may ne nice to link to some member's online shop, yt channel or whatnots, but the amount and regularity of those banners is just getting too much. I would't really want to implement masses of adblock plus filters to subeta, so I strongly suggest reducing the amount of those things

The ads help provide funding for Subeta, so they aren't going to get rid of them any time soon. Best to just keep adblocking the ones you don't like.

The fact that you are annoyed by someone's pet being sick is kind of sad really. I'd be really upset if I were that person and reading this. Either way I would imagine you're seeing it so much because there aren't very many user created ads anymore unless its during an event to get trinkets/flowers/whatever. So there's not a large pool for it to choose from. Anyhow, adblock it or get a gold account. That person paid money or CSC to have that ad there and Subeta is most likely not going to remove what they paid for unless its in violation of the rules.

yeah that, not that a sick cat isn't bad, I have one myself, but he had never been THAT sick or needed anything so expensive I couldn't have paid the vet all on my own. Maybe Vetsnin the US are exceptionally greedy, I dunno. And befire that cat thing, there was a video link, and before that, there was some person's lonline shop link...I do not even know who these people are, neitehr do I have any spare koney to give to them

I believe REAL ads would look different if they are aimed at helping with server costs etc.

Anyways, I understand how you feel. I just block all of the user-created ads (except the one with the cat...cause I love cats and I'm a mush). It's strange cause this is the first time in a long while that I've actually seen user-created billboards again. So I was caught off-guard too! xD

GA's don't get revenue ads (I believe, I also have Adblock though) but USER created ads still show up, they're not so common though.

Four points a) since a lot of people know the user behind that cat ad and it's not hard to find out who's behind it, I think this thread should probably be locked for targeting ?

b) you have no idea what situation that user may or may no be in at this time to need help with their cat, congratulations you have always been financially able to help your cat, I hope that you're never in a situation where you can't and need to ask for strangers to help.

c) user ads don't bring in revenue in the normal way, they're paid for once (or refreshed) with CSC, which has ultimately has to be paid for with USD by someone (not necessarily the person with the ad) so they can look however they like, even if it hurts your delicate sensibilities, so long as they're within Subeta's Terms and Conditions, they're also visible to users with GAs, so EVERYONE who doesn't block them has to deal with them.

d) as others have said Subeta NEEDS non-GA users to see ads so the site gets revenue, Subeta's adverts are comparatively unobtrusive and have been thoughtfully placed so they aren't RIGHT IN YOUR FACE at all times, if you think the advert is problematic in some way and questionable check to make sure you don't have any ad-ware on your computer and file a ticket to see if your complaint is valid, make sure you have a screenshot of the advert in question.

I've been watching this thread, I don't think it needs to be locked yet. But if anyone feels targetted you are always welcome to file a ticket :)

I have actually never seen user created ads on here before up until a few weeks ago, and I didn#t even know you could purchase ad space with csc, either. This as all completely new information for me.

I thought subeta use to be ad free there for a while. At least I only saw ads leading to other peoples shops and stuff like that. Now I'm seeing ads for ford trucks and things like that...has it always been this way?

You're not alone! I was confused at first, why I was seeing ads when I have a GA, but user-created are exempt from the GA's no-ads rule. Which makes sense after awhile. Just not a lot of users really use the billboards as much, so it's not too terribly bad.

I'd much rather see user ads than something derogative (like getting a boob job or something).

Ads (both user ads and others) have been around Subeta for years now, it's definitely not a new feature. :)

Hmm, I did disappear for a while...I guess I just never really noticed it before. :/ I still really like the site though.
