You know what Subeta is missing? CHICKENS. Not just any chicken. A chicken pet species.

I used to be indifferent to chickens. Then I slowly gained an appreciation and love for the chickens that happen to be at my job irl. They are cute, very funny, and overall, an interesting bunch. Now, that said, I don't know tons about chickens, so I really hope some chicken experts will show up here.

Behold, a very rough draft idea of what Subeta's chicken pet should look like.

Yes I only spent 3 minutes doodling this with my mouse, how could you tell? Anyways, emphasis on the long legs being the chicken pet's defining feature. All the better for the males to kick you with (if you've ever been kicked by a rooster, I'll have you know, they not only scratch you up, but man the force behind their kicks does leave bruises). They also give the usual chicken stare. Despite being prey, they are also part of the predator class. something something dinosaurs. Otherwise, a simple pet.

Now, design and COLORS! I'm an absolute sucker for the Wyandotte. I think they're just super pretty and would be very easy as a base for the recolors. Silver-laced would lend itself for Silver and gold-laced for Gold.

Lore How big of a chicken we talking?? Probably not Chocobo-sized for actual riding, but they should be bigger than the Noktoa, but still small enough for a Fester to carry off with. Though not actually depicted in the official artwork, is that males are obviously bigger and have more plumage and spurs etc. And the color of the egg laid depends on the mother's current color. So a Gold would lay golden eggs! Dusk lays dark blue eggs, etc.

Overall, the chicken pet is loving to their owners, but wary of strangers. Males are notorious for being aggressive to strangers, while the females tend to run away. Trouble tends to find the chicken pet, rather than them finding the trouble, because they're a delicious prey animal for the likes of Montres and Festers. As such, it is recommended that the chicken pet is kept in a secure coop or run to keep predators out. They make wonderful pets for city life as a result of their easy maintenance, though the chicken pet is happiest within a flock of others, whether that's others of their own kind or other non-predatory birds such as the Lain, Noktoa and Mallarchy. Their eggs are also a great food resource. Their offspring are called chicklets. The chicken pet is also popular for the show ring.

Now for name ideas for the chicken pet? no ideas. Wyhen? A combo of Wyan from Wyandotte, 'hen' in the name? I dunno, go wild suggesting the species name!

If you start 'em off as gold-laced to begin with, then I'd suggest a species name of Auborin(from the chemical symbol for gold, AU, and it sounds close to 'autumn hen', since I'd think it would take until Fall to get the pet actually put together).

I wouldn't mind more byrb on the site! And iirc, we do have a challenger (Fruit Punch) that I think could make a good starting point for a potential large byrb/chicken pet hybrid with some long legs and a bonus of a silly little hairdo that some chicken breeds have.

I fully support the chicken idea. Even if I don't have room for more pets. It would be really fun if different colors were represented by different breeds of chicken. What if the black and white Wyandotte was the arid color Buff Orpingtons could be the cream color Rhode Island Reds for the sun color and Plymouth Rock as Twilight. As ugly as the Dong Tao is to me it might make a really cute chibi. Silkies as Sweetheart. Would the nostalgic be a rubber chicken?

What about a rotisserie chicken? Although that might also work for bloodred.

I like the idea too, though I wonder how different they can make it from the Mallarchy.
