I had to pay 150+ CAD worth of csc to buy just 8 pet slots! I would be sooo happy if the price of pet slots was decreased to maybe 500-650ish csc, or maybe if that's not possible, could we have an occasional sale every now and then? And maybe get alerts when a pet slot sale is happening or something? I have big plans for this account, I want to own as many pets as possible on this site, but I'm afraid if I buy 150 CAD worth of pet slots just to get 8 of them every time, I'll go bankrupt. Just something to consider. In today's economy 150 bucks is quite a lot. I hope I don't come off as begging or whiny or anything. So yeah that's my idea and question.

More site events, like quest-a-thons, where we get a free pet slot for participating would be good again too. I'm kinda desperate. Lol, anyway yeah that's it.

I wouldn't mind them being cheaper (lord knows how many slots I've bought), but you can also get 25 pet slots from the Millionaire Center without spending real-world currency, so that's already a cheaper option.

It'd be nice if pet slots were half off for Black Friday at least. I could use some pet slots myself. The MC is a great option, but I have to hoard my sPs for battling.

I think staff doesn't want us to own 100+ pets, because it's literally killing the servers. We haven't had a pet slot reward or a CSC slot increase outside of loyalty boxes for years, now.

And I get it. I have over 130 pets and I have issues accessing my own pet page sometimes. It is very laggy.

I would like it, but I can't see it happening. Staff is really moving away from that.

I can understand the desire for lower price pet slots (or at least for them to be in the Black Friday sale), but for me personally it'd be pointless anyway as I've maxed out my MC and CSC slots 😊

(I've been fortunate and not had any problems lately in loading my pets page, but I know that my 127 pets are going to be hogging server space & making it more taxing for the site to load anything pet related that has to reference each pet!)

You're bogging down the servers with the sheer load of excess pets. It may be an outlet of creativity, sure, but for goodness sake, I really recommend taking up writing someplace else in certain cases.

It smacks of excess while someone has to simultaneously cry, "But, I want more! I'm entitled to more because _____ got more!" More doesn't make it better. We get multiple posts a year about sP sinks, there's too much sP in circulation, etc, etc, etc with wild inflation in cases to boot. So we're focusing on pets now?

The pets are bad, and we're already paying a lot per slot. But we're not the only one breaking the site down.

I was gonna say, people rag on pets, but what about all the fucking wearables? I don't get the need for billions of wearables, especially when so many are repeats of each other anyways in concept. Can't imagine what CWs do to the site too for item amount. We can sit here all day and pick at each other's communities and who is more responsible for breaking down the site than the other, but it won't solve anything. Just hope that the new Kumos site will help resolve some of these issues, so that we can have lots of pets without it killing the servers. And the billions of wearables people can also be content then. Mazel Tov.

I think 1500 CSC is fine. It's easy enough to save up sP to buy CSC or buy Millionaire slots, that I don't think making it even easier would be in the best interest of the site. It's a slow process, but building up pets is also a slow process, that there's really no need to rush and buy so many slots at once.

It's Subeta's own issue if they don't want users to have the ability to own an upwards of 100+ pets. This is a pet site, after all. Goodness forbid if users actually want to own the numerous amazing species that the site releases and advertises itself as.

Ultimately, so long as the goal is to make money, there will always be a need for new content. Even if pet people limited themselves to fewer than 25 pets, it doesn't change the fact that the site is going to reach a point where servers can't keep up. Not to mention, how many pet people are even around for this to be an issue? The pet spotlight has been reduced to 1 day a week.... but that's completely off-topic and irrelevant to the OP.

I understand the strain on the servers, however maybe the subeta team can use some funds to upgrade the servers? I mean what are we paying them for? Also this is a pet site, is it not? I know the pet site Ayways allows you to have thousands of pets and it isn't laggy or unplayable so I know it must be possible. Also what I do on this site is my business. Having many pet slots suits my needs. I am not trying to sound entitled either I was merely just asking for a price drop or sales.

anyway... i don't see the harm in the idea of discounting pet slots purchasable for csc during eg the black friday sale. it's fair for pet slots to be a bit of a currency sink, but it is a pet site at the end of the day and i don't necessarily think it'd be the end of the world if slots were occasionally included in sales. i 'only' have 22 pets myself but i imagine users with significantly more pets at this point can't be such a huge number that they're really causing major issues beyond eg lagging your own pets page?

however there are ways to earn a fair amount of pet slots using sp via the millionaire centre as others have mentioned, as well as just saving up csc for slots by buying it for sp instead of with real money (not even mentioning loyalty boxes giving you essentially a free slot every year), so i think it's not hugely unfair as it is. it is a fair bit of real money to spend on pet slots, but ime subeta is relatively fair about being able to earn csc through normal play even if it will obviously take longer, so i'm not sure there's necessarily that pressure to "have" to pay for them with real money-purchased csc.

What funds? I think you're working with the premise that Subeta has these funds, but they don't. I don't remember when was the last time we managed to hit the halfway mark on the daily goal bar on the front page of the site.

Keith and his team are doing miracles to sustain the site with little income. I don't think that "just upgrade the servers with the money you don't have" is an option, now.

Can you explain this stance a bit more? Subeta was created, first and foremost, as a petsite so I would think having any number of pets is reasonable. Some people love wearables and are invested in creating, buying, trading, collecting, discussing, and using those items. Some people love to battle and are invested in buying, trading, & selling items related to this, training their pets / reading to their pets, battling, and related discussion. Some people love having pets and are invested in shaping their characters, creating stories / TCs / profiles / art for their pets, discussion and activities related to their pets, etc. I can't connect the dots on why one of these is somehow "inexcusable" but the others are fine.

Additionally, some users have been here for nearly 20 years and have grown their pet family over that time period. It's not necessarily an act of "greed" or "excess". Not to mention that, again, the site is a petsite. It's not the fault of users that the petsite boom has faded and the servers are currently struggling. Especially when the attaining of / "caring for" those pets includes constant activity on the site and supporting the site through irl funds.

This rings a bit like when people irl have been rude to or judgmental of me for having a certain number of animal family members just because they don't find the same fulfillment and joy in caring for animals that I do.

I think explained things really well as far as "reasonableness"! Though it does take longer, you can buy pet slots from the MC. If I am remembering correctly, they start at 20m and go up 20m per slot. I know with a GA I average 5m a day in income if I do quests and autoprice my shop. So that would be 4 days, 8 days, 12 days, etc to get more slots. This is pretty reasonable imo, even if it is a bit longer for non-GA users. The site does need to balance the wants of the users with the needs of the site as a whole. ATM the petsight "boom" is long gone and the site is running on a hot mess of code that has been put together over 20 years. There isn't much coming in as far as funds go. The site is already running with a pretty small staff and Keith isn't taking an income for his work even though he's doing a lot atm to bring Subeta "up to speed" via the Kumos site. The servers are expensive as is, and struggling to keep up. I do think the price of a slot via CSC is high esp. compared to other on-site things, and would love to see this go down a bit or at least be offered at a lower price on occasion. But again, we have to look at it in perspective of everything else - it's less expensive to submit a CW for example, but CWs bring money into the site.

The site isn't meant to be an instant gratification kind of thing, most games aren't! There are short and long term goals. Especially with non-unique names now, there's not a ton of pressure to get slots instantly (unless you're adopting a pet from someone) so working towards it for a little while is pretty reasonable in the big picture. There are some ways to get CSC on site such as the bathhouse, and you can buy it in user shops. 1500CSC is about 120m if you buy it from users. If you average 5m per day doing quests and auto pricing, that's less than a month.

I'm a huge pet person who is always wanting more slots too! I totally understand the desire, and honestly would love the CSC slots to be a bit less expensive. But imo we need to keep things in perspective and balance individual wants with what's best for the site. I would love to be able to easily have 150 pets, but it's more important to me for Subeta to be here long term. Also, not being able to get 100 of them right away does make me actually work on my current pets lol.

Perfectly well said. There's so many great pets to choose from, why are we not allowed to enjoy as many as we want? It's anyone's prerogative if it means they're happy, invested and constantly playing.

Having pets, coding pages, and building treasure chests is my personal joy on here. That is my play style and the reason I keep coming back. For other people, it's wearables, or trying to become the best battler, or finishing collections, or whatever.

So I don't know why any player has to be shamed for 'bogging down' the site by having things that the site lets you have. Very weird stance to me, but opinions are opinions and this is mine. I just don't see how it's beneficial to make disparaging comments about the play style of anyone who is still keeping this site alive. Even some staff members have more than 100 pets.

To be on topic, I think that the price is fair in order to support the site since the site already does provide pet slots that don't require real money. In fact, it's already possible to get dozens of pets without paying any real money, considering that you can buy csc cards from other users with sP. Other methods include letting time pass (yearly pet slot loyalty token) and doing quests to accumulate sP (millionaire center slots).

With all that in mind I think the site deserves that monetary support.

Also, pet slots used to be discounted for Black Friday 10 years ago, but was then excluded for reasons I can't remember. I don't know if their stance is still the same as back then, but if it is, I can't see them doing any sales or lowering the price.

Many many many years ago, they did Black Friday sales on pet slots, but they were discontinued. They used to be more expensive, though - I don't entirely recall if it's the original price, but in 2019, they were lowered to 1,500csc from 2,000csc.

Speaking as one of those users with an "inexcusable" amount of pets (90 slots, 91 come my 19th anniversary, lol), I think the site honestly benefits the most from people paying full price. I am pretty sure the daily support counter is broken, but I can't imagine the daily support being met every day is exactly the... reality of the site anymore. Subeta is a pet site, forum and avatar/wearables website, and it's been a long time since those types of websites have been very popular, I am just glad that subeta is still around, since subeta (and the friendships I made here) were a huge cornerstone of my childhood.

That said... assuming the memory load when the website is fully integrated onto Kumos goes well, if it is in the best interest of the site (eg, people are more likely to buy it at a lower price), I think it's fine if it was discounted. The "pet community" is not as vibrant as it once was.
