I've been working on making improvements to our ✨ avatar code ✨, which is obviously some of the most trafficed code on the whole site. An easier way to get started is to make improvements to the saved avatars, which don't change once they're saved. Easier to work with, and easier to move their improvements into our regular avatars.

Overall Changes

• 🤫 New privacy setting: unlisted
  • Unlisted allows you to link to your saved avatar, but it won't show up in trending, search results, or your user page (you will always be able to see all of your unlisted and private saved avatars in these places)
• ⚙️ New saved avatars are set to unlisted by default. Previously they were public, now you will need to update your saved avatars to public when you want them to be listed
• 🆕 Reactions are going to be more broadly used soon, but they'v replaced the ❤️ system that was used until now, that was brittle and frequently miscounted. You can now give each saved avatar one reaction (❤️ or 👍 or 👎) per avatar

Outfits Page

• 🆕 Outfits page
• 📈 Trending outfits based on the number of recent reactions - go give your friends some ❤️'s!

My Outfits

• 🆕 My Outfits
• 🔒 Toggle privacy on all of your outfits between public, private and unlisted
• 🔜 You'll be able to mass toggle your outfits at once

Outfit Page

• Now has stats that include the number of site items, custom items and the estimated cost
• 📝 You can now write a description in a markdown enabled rich editor, with sCode enabled. That gives you more opportunity to engage with the people you link your outfit to, including asking for feedback (use the reactions!)

• 🔖 Tags: They work! You can add them to your outfits, and see the most frequently used tags start to populate on the new search screen.

These are the first changes that hopefully highlight how awesome it is that we have these millions of saved creations, and I'm going to start giving you the tools to tag and use them to tell a story.

I was messing around with the new functions and it seems the old tags didn't migrate to the new system. Will there be an update on that or will we need to retag our outfits?

Unfortunately they did not so far :( I can look into if it's the kind of thing we can migrate, though!

I don't think having a downvote button for avatars is a good idea. I work hard on my outfits (so do othwrs), and downvoting would just be very discouraging and heartbreaking, especially when you're proud of what you created. I like things as they are. If you don't like someone's HA, don't click the heart.

I don't like the downvote, either. If I agree or like something votable, I'll use the heart. Fast and efficient. No need for expressing "o.k." nor a disheartening ( ;-) ), negative "not o.k."

glad to hear that HAs will be unlisted by default, and i like this status as well. wondering if there will be a way to edit the status in bulk? i'd like all my HAs to be unlisted (including the past ones) but definitely do not have the patience to go back and do it one-by-one retroactively, and additionally... i tried to edit the status of one of mine earlier this week and it just flat out didn't work lol personally, i'd rather not know if ppl don't like my HA, but that's not a hill i'm willing to die on. just weighing in generally since a couple people have brought it up. overall, this sounds like a great update and i'm eager to start using it. (:

Currently, our user profile has the option to include our "current" avatar. Would that remain the same? In which case where this says user page does that mean our "dashboard" or our profile?

Also adding a voice to the preference for not having the downvote option for HAs if possible. I don't see a reason for anyone to use it, but I feel like if it is there people likely will and I think that has no impact other than negative ones (making people feel sad, confused, frustrated, discouraged, etc).

Completely agree . There really seems to be no need to downvote on someone’s avatar. I hope this is reconsidered. We need more kindness and less negativity everywhere. ❤️
