I like most of these changes, but agree that I don't think we need a downvote on avatars or anything regarding profiles/pets/ect. in the future.

Wow, it looks like you're finally setting up a rival to style-file (or ... arvee? is that the name of the old one?). This feature would have been huge ten years ago, I hope the finished product is as useful and fun as style-file has been for me.
I wonder if some parts of the site like HAs might benefit from having a few preselected stickers instead of all stickers. It's true it's common to have downvotes, but plenty of sites also have stopped using them- like how youtube no longer shows the number of downvotes. I don't think it's imperative that we have a way for people to casually and regularly leave downvotes on any part of the site.
I understand someone who is banned seeing only their own reactions, but then also being able to see other negative reactions? Keith, are you trying to create drama here? xD You could chose neutrality and instead you're chosing drama. And is this reaction system the same as the stickers one you showed off on Kumos- if so, are you going to sort all stickers into positive/negative? So maybe you can leave some things like polls or feedback requests as "all reactions" but some just have the positive reactions, and people can just not interact if they don't have something positive to add?
Making the reactions per thing (not the same everywhere) would be a handy idea, and starting by having only one reaction on outfits might be a good place. But at the moment it's still in development & we don't know if it would be a problem or not.
I'm a little disappointed outfits won't be public by default anymore. I was finding it very helpful when I saw an avatar I liked to look up their saved outfits & see their other avatars & what items they used. But I understand that not everyone likes this feature as much as I do.
(All the HA items are publicly visible in the wardrobe, so making saved HAs public isn't exposing any additional information that isn't already public, that's my viewpoint)
I would love my tags to be migrated.
I have over 2000 saved avatars & really don't want to have to delete most of them, so I'm hoping the once proposed limit on them is never instituted... If it is, I'll need a much easier way to get to the middle of the list than currently exists. There is no way to go directly to page 80 of the 170-something pages of saved avatars, and that's frustrating. I could do with some intermediate numbers between 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 ... 172 173, make sense?
For tagging, if there could be a dropdown to add tags on each outfit of the 12 displayed on a page, that'd be great. Similar to how the vault works with tags, maybe?
It'd also be very handy to have a toggle on each saved HA to show it with only owned items, so you can tell what would happen if you try to wear it. Or alternatively, a highlight color for fully-owned outfits, like their background is light blue or light yellow vs the white background of the rest. (or whatever color, just an aura of some shade or a star or something after the word Outfit, some indication you can wear this one as is because you own all the items.
I've tried out the avatar detail explanation https://kumos.subeta.net/wardrobe/outfit/1404492
just change your outfit url from new.subeta.net to kumos.subeta.net and remove the "s" from outfits.
chiming in with another disagree with the downvote system with HA.
we've seen people react negatively towards pride avatars, for example, so having the ability to downvote may result in some unsavoury actions. especially since HA is a form of self expression, having an ability to say 'nah, don't like that' publicly is restrictive and damaging. don't understand what downvoting someones HA would do anyway, just seems like a bad idea. just because some sites have up/down vote systems doesn't mean every site needs one. just seems like the seed of unneeded drama.
The only thing down voting adds to HAs is negativity. If people are looking for critique they're going to post in forums and get personalized feedback. A down vote doesn't do anything besides "I don't like this" which is absolutely useless. Maybe removing this feature BEFORE it becomes a problem would actually be the best move. If you genuinely want to use a ton of emoji's for people to be able to react to HAs with, pick some positive ones that have different meanings. Sunglasses = 'cool'. Heart = 'love it'. etc etc.
((I wish we'd have subeta themed emojis for shit like this. big sigh)) Looks like this might be a thing based on the recent news post!
I love that the hearts will now work - I love these updates. :D I also appreciate that we can make private (and they are now on automatically private) setting for each HA. I wish there was a way to make ALL the saved HAs private with the click of one button. I also agree that having subeta-based emojis would be awesome!!
I agree with other users: I think my least favorite is the down vote. I personally do not like that feature - that will unnecessarily cause people to have their feelings hurt. I think it would be nice to have some funny-or joking ways to vote (for friends who like to tease) but for non-friends I think that down vote should not exist, imo. The down vote seems sort of opposite what subeta usually tries to do with inclusivity and connected community.
idea: Perhaps we could make to so that only friends can vote on semi-private HAs saved in the wardrobe or view private (friends only) saved HAs? Would that be possible - to have "public," "friends only," and "private" options?
I am a private person so I ted to like things on private. I also like user interaction so I never set my items I am wearing to view on my profile, because I enjoy when people ask me about hat an item is called. I think it opens up the way for a dialogue. I have met some good friends with things like that before. ^^

I really really extremely want:Hey can an option be added to make it easier to mass delete avatars? I have a 75 pages of draft outfits saved at this point?
Thank you for the changes, but what about deleting items from the wardrobe? Will you work on a quick and easy way to do that (like we used to have).
I am also against downvoting avatars. If I don't like somebody's outfit I just ignore it.
I agree with others about downvoting. If an avatar isn't liked, then it won't get a heart or a like. I get having a downvote on comments or posts, but I think the system for avatars should be different.
's suggestion of different emojis is a neat idea. :D (sunglasses=cool etc)
I hate the downvote, thanks. More to the point: I thought this was meant to be improvements, not a popularity contest.

also agree with others about downvoting. if somehow someone makes an offensive ha, reporting should do it...
uhmm did i totally miss it or there isnt a date of when the outfit was created?
[edit] going ahead and ping you since i still dont see a date anywhere! x.x
biting for all strains!
I'm gonna echo the common sentiment here and say that the downvotes are a bad idea. I literally cannot fathom what purpose it would serve beyond spreading negativity - something that this site absolutely does not need.

Maybe this is my perspective as a really old person but here we go.
I look back at some of my first HAs - made when I was 13 - and cringe. They're objectively bad! I didn't know how to layer, I had little access to some of the items I now use frequently, and my tastes were... well, I was thirteen. They were questionable at best, ha!
But I was so proud of those little guys when I was making them. I thought they were awesome! I would've been all over the idea of a public feed where everyone can see what I'd come up with, and I'd have trawled that page for new ideas nonstop... but I think, if they'd started to get downvotes (which I now can critically understand they would deserve, because they are Not Good), I would have felt fundamentally hurt and discouraged from the idea of sharing my HAs, and possibly even creating them. Especially if every one I posted would get downvotes.
Now I don't necessarily think that our user base is so cruel that they'd do that systemically, or that it would happen to every single new user, or young kid who was using the site. But everyone starts somewhere, and not everyone's tastes are the same. I think a like, and a love, make a lot of sense - encouragement is great! But unless the person is posting on a crit forum, I kind of feel like having the opportunity for people to just say 'I don't like this' in an instantaneous way, which doesn't inspire a lot of critical thought, could be harmful.
It takes a lot of effort to write a critique, or give advice. Heck, it takes a few click throughs to send a mean comment or sMail saying 'your HA sucks.' But it takes two seconds to thumbs down an avatar, and then the person who's sending that negativity out can just mentally move on. They won't think twice about it. But the person who can see the thumbs down emojis they're getting? It'll linger a lot longer.
Okay, soapbox away. If I'm wrong, I'll take it on the chin, but... idk.
I'd like to take this conversation away from the reactions, which are a part (you react to get things to move up the trending chart) but not the entirety of this feature.
I'll make changes if we see a sweeping cloud of negativity (allow you to choose if you'd like negative reactions) but this system is shared across news comments, news posts, forum posts, etc, places were a down vote might be useful. I also have the 👎 flagged as "negative" in the system, and we can split out the component for areas that don't have any need for a negative reaction if needed. However, there isn't any indication that it will be needed and I'd like to see what is possible with the various reactions available.
Still working on getting the mass editing out, hopefully today but we've got another release that is taking priority.

subeta doesn't need more negativity, the offsite stuff should show that. folk are quitting bc of offsite stuff, bringing the ability to be negative into the site is just. oof. tbh calls into question what type of community yall want subeta to have, the focus seems to be on drama, but the playerbase is like 30+ years old so, again oof and yikes
This whole thread is full of users loudly and clearly stating that they do not like the idea of this feature and often explaining their reasoning in detail. I fail to see how that alone does not count as "indication" that this feature is not wanted.
Subeta's community has been flagging a lot over the past few years and one of the most common reasons stated for the lack of engagement (and in some cases, users leaving the site entirely) is negativity. How exactly is the addition of more negativity going to help remedy this?
To once again echo the common sentiment, I also give this idea a +👎
