Once more it's time for another new Dragon Age game, how are we feeling folks. Are you excited? Dreadful? Perhaps both? Have you already planned your Rook, is this your first time playing a Dragon Age franchise game or have you been here since the Fifth Blight?
I've personally fallen back into my old habits and decided I should replay through the first three games. How do you play yours? Do you stick to your OG wardens/hawkes/inquisitors, or do you try out new playstyles? Tell me about your favourites, both player characters and NPCs, do you have any favourite romances? Is there something that infuriates you about anything, be it the fandom or decisions in the game?
Tagging because I know you've been deep in the trenches with me.
I'm warily considering unearthing some of my old unfinished DAO and DA2 mods and maybe finishing them after all, that's about it. I have recently gotten a bit of a refresher in Blender lol.
I have... still not played DAI.
pleaase do your mods are a lifesaver! <- this user finally bought the games on steam when they were like 90% off, until now I've only ever played them on PS.
DAI is ... an experience. It's funny how divisive all games have been so far, I feel like DA:O is the only one that has been certifiably "good" in all aspects, considering how it's ancient, and how now its biggest issues are that the visuals don't quite hold up (for an old game, I'd say not bad at all). My biggest issues with DA:I are that they wanted to make an open world game and they sort of did - but then never quite populated the world with anything t__t
Anyway, I can't wait for Veilguard, the game looks like they've addressed a lot of the criticism from previous games (the lack of afro textured hairstyles being a glaring one, and now with the closed world system it actually looks like there's a lot more things to do, strangely? They released some gameplay and I'm looking, respectfully.
I'm a first time Dragon Age player, I started with DAI a few years ago on PS4 as an elf Inquisitor. I thoroughly enjoyed exploring every inch of the maps, hoarding stuff I found on the ground, and listening to my party members bicker. Honestly.. I don't really remember the story. Maybe another play-through is in order before I jump into the new game..
I'm still holding it down for you Solas come back baby. TT__TT
tl;dr I'm so hyped for DA:V (wish they would've left it as dreadwolf >.>)
if everything goes well I actually plan on preordering it ><' i know i shouldn't but I've been waiting soooooooo long for this and I need my Old Man and Skeleton Son. And I'm sorry in advance for the incohereant word vomit.. I just hope the character creation menu takes a page out of BG3 book with the whole, body/pronoun thing. I know it's a small thing and if they don't it wont ruin the game for me at all. I wanna see my babies Cole and Dorian again ;-; since I doubt we'd be seeing anyone from DA:O/2 I would die to see how Zevran/Fenris/Anders are going I started playin DA:I Again, speed run style in preperation. just to jog my memory and stuff. I AM bummed that you cant.. idk the word. Cross class? Like I wanna be a mage sure but I also wanna poke people with pointy things D: I doubt they'd change that anytime soon... OH! and I can't wait to play Qunari again! I've been meaning to re-read about them since i forgot a fair amount of their lore.. Am I the only one that plays the class opposite of the person I like the most/want to romance? Like If I'm romanceing a mage I play rouge/warrior and vice versa. All in all, i was never big on the combat aspect, it was kinda boring, so I just hope the story and characters are well done.
"My biggest issues with DA:I are that they wanted to make an open world game and they sort of did - but then never quite populated the world with anything" Yes! DAI could've been so amazing and full of just.. stuff and when you see the areas you're like WOAH and when you realize there's nothing it's like.... what was the point? sorry for the long post, DA in general is currently throwing out everything else in my brain and im gonna stop typing now TAKE CARE
I'm getting more and more excited for the game as the release day approaches. I played the previous 3 games (except the trespasser dlc). I like playing as a mage and I usually romance Zevran, Fenris, and Dorian. The character creator looks fun in the new game, I'm excited to spend a good chunk of time there. I'm also excited to encounter Solas again because from the little I remember from DAI, I remember that I tried to befriend him.
To just play a new Dragon Age game after so long is amazing. All of the games really impacted my gaming taste, I guess? Like, I enjoy games with choice and consequences, dialogue options, romance, party banter. Dragon Age had a big influence on the kinds of games that catch my attention.
Just started Veilguard. SPOILER (click to toggle)
Anyone else still gasping from that suckerpunch in the beginning?

trundles into this thread months later, probably after everyone has already played and been finished with it
so how we feelin folks?
i thought (esp at the beginning, trailed off toward the middle but came back strong right before the end unfortunately) that some of the dialogue was incredibly Marvel/Too Quippy but it didn't completely ruin the game for me like it apparently did for other people (esp since imo it Did trail off toward the end of the early game/middle)
loveddddddddddd Emmrich SOOOOOO MUCH (good taste ) and also Taash. torn on Bellara bc she IS annoying but she's also really good representation of someone with insanely unmedicated ADHD haha.
thought a lot of the choices were too cut and dry (other than Emmrich's, We Stay Winning).
LOVED the combat holy wow. played as a rogue and had a blast. whenever i play again i'm going to play a mage (unsure on race) and romance Taash.
i liked it over all even if i did get spoiled on several major plotbeats LMAO
