I think it’s more to stop CWs from looking like food. The Boba Bun is food which is able to be fed to your pet. No CWs can be fed to your pet and it’s good that they’re not able to just straight up look like food. Official wearables can look like food because they can be food.

I know it’s very unlikely but it stops people from impulsively buying a CW that looks like a cake they haven’t fed to their gourmand yet.

But the bun is a food item, so I don't see the problem. CWs are restricted because they can only be wearables, not minions or food; they're not official items. So it makes sense the item art should not be misleading possibly should a person miss the indicative little star icon in the corner that tells a player it's a CW.

For my purposes as someone who passively collects food and book items for my gourmand and reader, I wish there was a bit more visual consistency to indicate that something has multiple uses. I like to add items to organized WL categories, and there have been several times where I've bought an expensive item only to discover it's just a wearable, or not really a book/food, etc.

It's pretty frustrating, especially since I'm not as interested in wearables and there are tons and tons of items I'd never consider putting on my HA. Honestly, I'd be OK if there were more guidelines to indicate item use, but I can see why it might make things more challenging for artists. If item use could be added to the item info hoverbox, that would make my life so much easier and potentially bypass any need for official item art to require visual indication of its use.

Oh now that is a solid idea. Item use is already in the directory so shouldn’t be too tough to port over.
