I understand the need of having certain items rare and elusive, but I think there could be better ways of achieving this without having to rely on such anti-user methods such as "be there on the right moment, at the right time". Subeta is all about being inclusive, and I feel like tweaking this is a good gameplay-wise method of doing so. There exist users that have been playing this game well over 16 years, still unable to get this elusive item and I frankly believe this might be 'too much', if you pardon my way of saying this.

My suggestion is to stock Universal Remote by the thousands and make them cost a much higher price (my original idea was 200,000 crystals, but other people have different suggestions and idea. I would like the item to be expensive to respect the ones who got them out of luck before, while also making them attainable for people in the future. This price could be worked on more) in the Crystal Shop. At a price of around 1,500 each crystal, this will ensure the remote remains 'unbuyable' (that is, not being sold on shops easily), while also making people spend more time fragging so that lower rarity items get wiped out of the site. Sure, this will make the item be more expensive, but you will not have to rely on luck for its obtainment. I feel like this is the best method for this rare item which is needed for an achievement, as food and as a book (even if those last two collections are not 'vital', they are still nice to have).

They were last stocked a year or so ago, but otherwise agree.

The remotes have so many uses, I can't ever imagine getting enough to feel comfortable to sell one.

As someone who has been on a bit over 16 years, I have managed to grab 4 or 5 of these. Not bragging, just stating fact. Tho I disagree with you on the "anti-user" method... I really like your suggestion of putting them in crystal shop for around 200k HPCs. and it would maybe alleviate the: OMG They are gone already?!? :o BUT it might also bring the: OMFG WHY ARE THEY SOOOO EXPENSIVE?!?!? I would also prefer it to be always available at a high price.

I am the type that reads to ALL of my pets, so I need it for 18 books, the achievement, as food for one pet, and would love to be able to do multiple stat boosts if I ever had the opportunity. I would probably never sell one in user shops.

Couple of things:

1. As Lypsyl stated The Universal Remote restocked January 9, 2022 which was only a year and a half ago. Yes that's not very recent, but to say several years is a bit much.

2. I hate to say this, but there's always the option to buy the remote from another user. I have gone that route myself so I could get it for my Gourmand and Reading pets as I've only ever gotten it once in a restock as far as I can remember. (I've been here for 7 years for what it's worth).

3. Listing it at 200,000 crystals would raise the price of the remote by 140,000,000 - 200,000,000 SP depending on the day and humming crystal prices. You can buy it right now for 100,000,000 SP if you have the money. I don't think this is a bad option, but the math would need some tweaking.

I disagree with the 200,000 price point.

I do agree that a change should be made. Restocking 10 at once, over a period of time, could potentially result in the same 10 people restocking it. If you, say, restock 50 at once, you ensure that 50 different people restock it due to the 30 minute time out between purchases. It makes more sense to do bigger batches spaced apart for different time zones, imo.

i agree that they should add more. i'm not sure 200,000 crystals is reasonable though, that seems like it would be even harder, when the top items are like 15000 crystals and theres always stocks depleting people crystals, especially for collectors.

i definitely agree with the sentiment but honestly just adding a bunch at a slightly higher price, even if its something like 20000 is probably good enough, that way people have to work for it more and cant just buy one once every time thier timer goes down.

but seeing as this item is needed for two collections, an achievement, and is a huge stat booster, people will need multiple and it shouldnt be that hard to even just get one

I think making it less rare is a-okay, but 200,000 crystals is definitely not a solution because the remote usually sells for around 50-100mill as it already stands (subetalodge's price chart has it at 64-69mill for the majority of the past year), and changing it to 200k crystals at 1.5k sP each puts it at 300mill so it'd make it harder for the average user to get, not easier.

I feel like people might be able to tell its price when they see all the remote can do. It's one of those items that has its own achievement, after all, haha.

I cannot dispute your 2nd point but, about the third one, I added extra price in crystals due to the 'convenience' of having them a quasi-permanent item. Not only that, but you can always get crystals 'cheaper' if you know what you are doing, so I feel like this is fair, while also respecting the people who bought their own Universal Remotes from other people (such as yourself, as in the long-run doing that will have been more cheap than getting one from the crystal shop at 200,000), as well as the people who restock them to sell or make money.

If you could, please check my original post again, for I have edited it (specially on the price apartment). I understand that such a steep price would make the remote more expensive but, at the same time, I want to eliminate the 'luck' factor. Currently, universal remote suffers from a luck-based obtainment method. Be there on the right place, at the right time,or you will miss out. And this is not like the Blackheart Hollow, which you can try your luck at several times over. Universal Remote is once every few years.

It is literally so effin easy to frag today and there a tons of items less than 1,500 that can be fragged, for minimal time and for a crapton of HPCs... that at minimum it should be set @ 100k HPCs. Wish people of today, use to frag back in the day, when fragging was an absolute horror show. lmao [edit]Oh and btw, I think I sold 3 or 4 of the 4 or 5 I have been able to nab over the years, I have sold for 100m or more. Just saying.

I don't think a multiple use item (book, food, toy, weapon and stat booster) should be this hard to get. I've been playing Subeta for 16 years and I have only managed to catch one restock and I had to buy the remotes for SP so I can feed it and read it to my battle pet and gourmand pet.

I don't agree with staff stocking 5 or 10 remotes at a time. The same people will grab the remote multiple times to sell for money. Stock 50 at a time or keep it in stock for a high price point. Maybe for around 30,000-50,000 crystals.

Just for shits and giggles I just fragged 361 item priced 1-1,898sP and got back a total of 535 HPCs for a couple minutes of "work".

Plus, I see people mentioning HPCs @ 1,500sP : currently there are about 10,000 of them @ 1,222sP-1,200 and have been as low as 500sP each. So, if the HPCs were to go down to 500sP each and the price was SET @ 200k for the remote... THAT IS A WHOMPING 100m.

That is why 90-100k HPCs @ minimum, if they were to go into crystal shop with static amount.

Also, isnt it crazy that people do not balk at paying 500, 1k, 2k+ csc for CWs? o.O

Universal Remote

The second restock happened at 04:16 PM~. It was 15 remote controls and they lasted til 04:18 PM~. My thread still stands.

This thing is part of the reason why I don't go for pet achievements, some are just simply unobtainable unless you grind for hours on end (lol, that's not happening here) and met with the ire of "If you just worked harder, you'd get things."

I'm not saying make it ridiculously easy to obtain but 10-15 items for two(ish?) restock in a year and a half (or whatever it happens to be) is this side of ludicrous. So any improvement over that is an improvement.

I would like at least three for the achievement and collections. Doesn't seem like that will ever happen. One of the reasons why it's hard for me to care about achievements. Not paying 300mil, not that I even have that much to spend.

disclaimer* subeta is a game that i enjoy and i'm grateful for all that staff do. at the end of the day, it's a pixel remote. ok, so my opinion:

i've only ever gotten 1 remote in 15 years of playing.

however, i don't like this suggestion. 200k crystals is heinous. 100k crystals is just as bad.

honestly, i don't understand why the remote isn't treated like the other crystal shop items.

just stock more than 15-20 per restock. most of us need 3 or more to finish collections/achievements. the remote will still be highly sought after and remain hard to get, even if staff stocked 100 to 150 of them. it's easily and quickly consumable, so i think stocking the remote at the 100 or 150 and increasing the price to maybe 10K AT MOST would let more people have a chance to catch one and keep them fairly expensive. since it seems like a site goal to keep them expensive? idk.

some people on subeta have 50+ pets. imagine they want to read to/feed all or most of them? it seems weird to keep the remote price artificially inflated when most likely, the remote's function will keep itself inflated.

In 13 years I've never seen the remote restock lol. They tend to stock when I'm asleep - Australian here - so I hope they restock during my time as well.

They need toi stock more at a higher crystal cost and perhaps make the cooloff buying time longer so the same people dont keep restocking it?

More in stock at a higher price is something I can get behind, but not for some of the prices I see in this thread. Items that are 10k to 15k crystals already sit for a long time, I don't think we need to make them 10 or 20 times that price.

There's a 30 min or something waiting time between purchases. Can't the number restocked be based on an estimate of how many remotes would be bought in that interval? That way it lasts more than 2 minutes but still runs out of stock before people can buy another copy. Idk, sounds fairer than restocking 10-20 just to have the same half a dozen users buying them while other dozens and dozens just get frustrated.

Of course, keeping it to an acceptable limit and increasing its price if needed, or whatever other tweak it would need to keep the item's value.
