Thought I would start a thread and see who has played or is playing. I remember when it came out the first time but I didn't start playing until they made the Sims 4 base game free just a few months ago. Since then I've enjoyed it enough to buy two packs. And then I remembered the existence of CCs and Mods. I'm trying to take a break from downloading more because last the time I updated my MOD folder backup I had almost 5000. Is that a lot? Mostly I've been looking for build and buy but those clothes are everywhere and the day I spent shoe shopping for free. :) This emogee's smile is to small for how happy that made me.

Which versions have you played? Which packs did you get and which ones did you enjoy?

As creative as the Subetan community is I wouldn't be surprised to find a Content Creator or two here. If any of you can tell me why its so hard to find lamp CCs or why I've only seen a few foundation CCs and no CC for roof trim, railings, or pool trim?

🌟YAY!!! I finally reached 5000 food items! My ultimate goal is 9000. 🌟

Oooh, I love The Sims! I first started with TS2 on Gameboy Advance. Then TS3 on PC, and finally TS4 on PC.

I bought all the packs for TS3 and have most of them for TS4, though I don't love supernatural aspects to games, I don't have vampires/werewolves, etc. Only the spellcasters pack. I can't remember what it's called. I have a few kits too, but I find that they're too small for 6.99 CAD. My favourite EP is Cottage Living by FAR, living the cottage-core dream. I've been playing Get Famous a lot lately, too. High School Years has been fun, too! I like making my teen sims live alone because I hate managing the life of more than one sim at a time xD I usually play long life span, so it gives me a lot of time with the same sim :)

I have just over 4000 hours played on TS4 and I'm assuming similar on TS3.

Where do you download CC from? TheSimsResource is good, I had (have? I need to check now, lol. I might not have cancelled it.) a subscription to the VIP plan, so I use(d) their CC manager and found it user-friendly. Many people on TSR have full room sets, but you can download each object individually. Unfortunately, I HATE that there are so few exterior options. Windows? Doors? Hardly any new uploads. Same with ART! :(

Tumblr has a ton of CC creators, too. Many of them create full packs/matching sets, especially around Christmas.

With TS3, I used a ton of CC, but in TS4, I don't have any. I have gshade and a few mods, though. Too many other games downloaded. I don't want to waste space! The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt takes up a lot of space, and I preordered Hogwarts Legacy, which I expect to take up a ton of space too. I get early access on the 7th.

So good to meet another player! I can definitely see why the supernatural elements wouldn't be for everyone. They are something that has interested me so they are on my buy it on sale list. So far I bought Snowy Escape and Island Living and I'm really enjoying what they add to my game. As the first supernatural element I'm glad that mermaids are more secretive creatures. Realm of Magic will definitely be my next purchase. After that in some order I want Spa Day, Discover University, Get to Work, Vampires, Werewolves, and eventually Cottage Living, and Cats & Dogs.

Just noticed you said you like playing one sim at a time. I'm a little the opposite. Spent the last week working on my plans. My list of characters is around 60-80 long of course divided into multiple households. Now I'm trying to build all the homes and redesign or build the commercial properties. Once I have all the pieces ready to go I want to drop my characters in and see what happens probably with a little influence in certain directions. I think this is partly because the fun part for me is the building. If I have someone specific in mind for my build it can give me direction.

I've found some cc doors and windows that I really enjoy I will try to find the links to share. The Sims Resource is extensive but as someone who is not a member it is challenging sifting through all those items. For that reason I usually find my cc searching the internet and following a rabbit trail through Tumblr, Patreon, Simfileshare, and more. Since I don't want to download another program just to open cc's I haven't downloaded any .rar or .7z files. Thankfully this hasn't been an issue in most cases.

Oh Hogwarts Legacy guess we won' hear from you for a few days in February I hope you have fun! I'm going to wait and learn more before I consider spending money on it but it does sound really fun.

I bought Snowy Escape a while ago because it fixed the "mean sims" bug. I haven't touched it much, so I'm excited to hear you've had lots of fun with it! Maybe my sim will go on vacation after she gets her degree. Island Living is tons of fun, for sure! I love building beachfront properties.

WOW, 60-80! I could never keep track of that many!! So impressive.

I love building too. I tried to do the "empty world" thing in TS3, but I nixed it after a few houses. I'm pretty sure you could download empty worlds on the sims website back then. Maybe I'll try it again.

I feel you about TSR. The only reason I upgraded to VIP was that I couldn't stand the ads, and it took forever to load ;-; I've downloaded things here and there for TS4 before removing them for more space, but I find that a lot of CC on TSR is alpha, and I prefer Maxis match. I think there is more Maxis match on Tumblr.

Haha, we'll see about Hogwarts Legacy. Hopefully it's fun... I've been looking forward to it since it was announced. I will be extremely disappointed if it's buggy. I'm nervous that the early release will go poorly and that they'll be fixing bugs from complaints during the early release. Fingers crossed that it goes smoothly xD I will report back with my thoughts!! I love RPGs, and I am a history major, so the historical aspect is really appealing.

Don't plan on keeping track of them so much as watching the craziness I'm certain will ensue. Some of them I will probably interact with more often than others depending on how stupid they start acting without intervention or how much I care if they live if I haven't made them immortal.

I found some of my favorite CC's for doors and windows. These creators have many other beautiful CC's for the game so I highly recommend checking out more of what is available. But since you are enjoying the Cottage Living I thought some of these might work well with it and others are just so pretty.

LINKS Pierisim Felixandre Peacemaker Peacemaker 2 (because one suggestion just wasn't enough) Mutske SIXAM CC RusticSims (I don't have this one since it is a .rar file but if you like the style they have created more than one. Most of the stuff I have from them is interior furniture.)

ART Standardheld Miips

Plaid wallpaper MadameRia And if you like cute thing I have two furniture suggestions.

Look forward to your review. With a budget as tight as mine even a normal price on a game seems to high. But if Hogwarts Legacy turns out good I will definitely have it on my wishlist for my birthday or Christmas next year.

Hehehe, I love it. I'd love to populate a whole world with my own sims, but the townies are so funny. I especially love the High School Years townies. And the Landgraabs, Goths, and Pancakes, of course! Who is/are your favourite townie(s)?

Ooh, thank you so much! I can't wait to look through all the links :)

Yeah, it's definitely a high price. I cringed buying it. Normally, I research games before buying, but since it isn't released yet, there aren't any substantive reviews. At least, not when I preordered. There might be some now.

I don't think I've played enough yet to really get to know the townies yet but so far the Landgraabs, Goths and Pancakes look interesting. I'm looking forward to getting to know them all better but especially the Pancakes. Since I have Snowy Escape and Island Living I get a lot of random NPCs with Japanese and some Sulani names. Hopefully having a lot of my own characters will keep them from becoming to prolific.

My first character is named Natasha Cotton and I saved the game shortly after I started. So now I'm using it as a base to remodel everything for all the other families I'm planning. In a way I'm creating a massive fandom crossover with my favorite characters from various shows. That is why I need vampires, werewolves, and spellcasters. None of my planned characters were mermaids originally but I'm thinking of making a few of them mermaids anyway.

Here are the two cute furniture sets I mentioned. The flowers on the wall are lights and she has cute things for other rooms. Do you love citrus?

I used to love Sims 3 a lot, and Sims 4 has been a big change but I'm thrilled about having more customization options and the game not glitching as fast or often. I like designing the houses and making big families :3 also a big fan of the Goths.

I've been thinking of getting more of the expansion stuff, but money has been tight for a long time. I just miss playing with vampires and fairies and stuff. I might have to go back to Sims 3 for a bit now that I think about it.

I've been a fan of the franchise for decades but didn't get Sims 4 until it went free. I have since purchased a few expansion packs (so they got my money eventually) but probably won't bother to buy too many, and admittedly the ones I did buy I got on sale (and was gifted one)! So far I have been enjoying it though.

My main pet peeve about Sims 4 initially was that you could only assign 3 traits per adult (and even fewer for younger sims). Thankfully, I found mods that override this and allow more traits, which has made things so much better. Fortunately, as the Sims has such a creative community, I almost always find a mod for any issue I have with any game in the franchise.

I own all the expansion packs for Sims 1, but after that I was more selective with which ones I bought for each game. I always get the packs that add pets (and other animals in general) to the game. I think my favourite pets pack was the Sims 3 version, thanks to the addition of horses, traits based on interacting with pets (cat person, dog person, equestrian, etc.) and the fact that it was one of the games that let you control pets directly without cheats or mods. But I have to say I am particularly enjoying the cottage living expansion pack for Sims 4 (the first Sims 4 pack I bought). Partly because I love rabbits so much, but also because I love the other animals they added to the game and ways in which you can interact with them.

Another Sims 4 pack I got that I am really enjoying is Nifty Knitting. I actually got it because I noticed it added the metal radio station to the game, plus it lets your sims air guitar too. So I basically had to have it just for that. XD But actually I also love the new hobbies it adds and the Plopsy feature, which I use all the time for my artists and other crafty sims. It was unexpectedly awesome. :)

After watching more than one ranking of the packs I decided that it was really up to my own tastes though it was nice to know which ones were glitchy. I really want to play with the vampires, werewolves, and spellcasters but when the more expensive packs were on sale I couldn't pass up Snowy Escape and Island Living. As soon as the spellcasters, vampires, and werewolves are on sale I hope I can get them. Wish those three were bundled together but they always seem to bundle them with seasons or another pack I really don't want.

From what you know are the vampires mostly the same between sims 3 and 4? I never played any of the earlier games and Sims 4's build mode seems very nice but the significantly shorter list of packs for Sims 3 also seems nice.

I didn't know that about the Nifty Knitting.

Are either of you awaiting the pack they're releasing in March? Growing Together

Oh I love TS4 ! I used to play TS1, then I had TS2 ... for PS2, which suuper doesn't count, and somehow I skipped the entirety of TS3, but now I'm playing TS4 on PC.

I don't really play the game in the regular sense, I mostly just do builds. I used to be super into CC, but after getting a little too overboard with it, I have restricted myself to only using Maxismatch Cas cc, no build mods whatsoever.

I own all the packs aside from a couple of smaller sets and the batuu one + the newest one that was just released, although I am planning on getting that one. The Star Wars one... not so much.

I love just. renovating apartments or building from scratch, my newest one was turning the luxury apt from San Myshuno into Barbie Dreamhouse.

I'm not particularly planning on getting Growing Together but some of the new items (and the way sims interact with them) look awesome in the trailer. :) Will possibly look into it when sales are on ;) Do you think you will be getting it?

My budget is tight and I there more than 10 packs I want more so unless it came in a really good bundle with two or three of the others I wanted probably not anytime soon. I'm more interested in what changes it will bring to base game and hoping that I like them all.

Wow that looks like a fun build! If they ever fix that bouncing camera problem I will enjoy building even more than I already do. To work around it I thought maybe if I build the first and maybe second floors I can just copy them up so I don't have to deal with as much bouncing from the camera. Have you enjoyed Sims 4 more than the others? I never played the others so I have no comparison but from the advertising I remember Sims 4 seems to have better graphics and or build mode compared to the others.

I have heard that the EA App is giving people who play Sims 3 a lot of trouble. Although I don't play Sims 3 I have hesitated to switch from Origin. Have you had any trouble with it?

I started with SIMS 3 on the computer and since 4 has come out free for the base I have played on the computer and on XBOX ( but I think the computer gives you more control and is easier to use )... I really want to get the cottage DLC but I haven't committed yet.

I loved sims 3 and i loved how they did the sim creator for s4 but i stopped playing 4 for a while because the packs, in my personal opinion, are getting to expensive for too little content Might redownload S4 and mod it to high heaven later.. if i can find some good mods.

I started on the Sims 2 at a friends house back in college, got the Sims 3 when it came out, and moved onto the Sims 4 when it launched. I haven't played in a while, though right now it's because I'm waiting on the Infant update and the update for the next pack.

I was thinking about the Cottage pack as well but there were others I wanted more and I can't afford them all at once so I will be spreading out my purchases.

I definitely see what you mean about the money verses product. Just earlier I was thinking about some of the cc packs I've downloaded for free that are almost as big or bigger than the build buy of some stuff packs. And that isn't even talking about the quality of the content. With the recent update I bought a bundle of packs I wanted and I've been trying to play without my custom content and mods to get used to them. But I know that when I add my cc back in it will easily triple the content and the mods make the entire experience feel complete and functional. Are there any particular mods you are looking for?

I hope you are enjoying the infants! After seeing all the content it adds I am happy for people that want more family and reality and happy for me that it isn't base game since right now it really isn't how I want to play my game. But it does look like a really good addition for the family and realism in game. If you have the pack I'm curious what features you are enjoying the most?

I actually use the Sims 3 camera and it works just fine for me, you can change to it in the camera settings tab!

I really want to buy the new pack with the infants, but I just bought a new PC and should perhaps try and save some money first lol. Anyone here play it yet?

And yeah agreed re: costs of the game, it's ridiculous how expensive owning all the packs and expansions is /: I usually only buy packs whenever there's some serious sales going on, or if package deals are actually giving some proper discounts but it's still really expensive.

Infants was a base game expansion/update as it's a new life state. Similar to how they updated the base game when they added toddlers way back when. The new expansion pack, Growing Together, adds more family gameplay and dynamics. Which is what I'm excited for as playing families and legacy generations became really stale for me.

i've played every sims game since the first one, and i'm still out here playing the sims 2! it's by far my favorite of the series. i love that i can create my own neighborhoods from scratch, and even though i've been playing the game for nearly 20 years, it always feels fresh to me because there's always something different to try when playing with different households.

i played a TON of TS3 for years after it came out, and i loved so many things about it. i think it really appealed to the completionist in me, with all those collections to fill, opportunities and adventures and skill challenges to complete, open worlds to explore... unfortunately the game was just so damn unstable, constantly freezing or crashing, losing save files to corruption, and eventually the game just wouldn't load at all! i didn't feel like going through the troubleshooting process or eliminating CC from my game entirely, so i just sort of fell off. fortunately this was around the time the TS2 ultimate collection was being given away for free, so i was able to get back into my OG fav.

i actually reinstalled TS3 now that i have a better computer, but i haven't played that much because just getting the game to a state where i want to play it takes so much work. you need so many different mods and fixes, and even then the game still bugs out pretty wildly. also the art style is so datedβ€”i hate those big bobble heads and that plasticky shine on everything!β€”so i feel like i have to give every sim a makeover before i really want to play with a neighborhood. for some reason i just have a harder time getting sims to look how i want than in TS2, even with CC and default replacements and custom sliders. it's all just a lot more labor intensive.

i've played a fair amount of TS4 but i never feel engaged enough to keep coming back. building houses and making sims in that game is pretty fun, but the gameplay itself feels lacking on some fundamental level. i think part of the issue for me is how de-emphasized sims' wants and needs and personalities feel, which is reflected in the minimalist UI design (which honestly just leaves me feeling weirdly lost & stressed more often than not).
