With the addition of the new achievement(random hex) why oh why can we not be hexed in the random tot feature? I have been hexed many many many times and still have yet to get this. I want to be able to use the random tot feature to get in more tots with the little time I have this year but can't until I get this seemingly impossible achievement. It is beyond annoying. Is this a new thing? I feel like we could be hexed through random tot last year? If so then I do not understand why it was changed.
[edit]Nvm.

That's literally the point of the random ToT feature - it's so that you can get maximum goodies, without being able to control what you get. It's a friendlier option for people who
Being convenient to people who are casual players is more important. The wording of the achievement doesn't imply it will retire, so I wouldn't stress myself too much.
Was it like that last year though? I know I was hexed quite a few times last year and had to put on the hypno monocle and I am pretty sure I was using the random tot feature. That is what I do not understand about it. Why would it be changed on a year where we have to be hexed for an achievement? Also users can always use the hypno monocle to not be hexed as much. I think I may have gotten hexed once after putting them on last year but it was never about being hexed for me, I like the random tot feature because it takes less time in between tots and when I am on mobile it is easier to use the random.
It is fine for those that were lucky enough to get the achievement after one or two hexes but for users that are not quite so lucky it sucks.
Pretty sure that's how it worked last year too. It's kind of the trade off for less wait time, get more goodies, but not necessarily the items you're after exactly, also no chance of getting hexed. I like that as an option!
don't worry, last day of Morostide will have far less wait time for ToTing, so if you need to get hexed then, you'll have an increased likelihood especially if you wear those HA items that help increase the odds. Good luck!

If it was like that before this year then I was mistaken and that would be more understandable. I really thought it was just changed this year but my memory is shot out so I am probably wrong, lol.
This achievement/border is so hard to get D:
I have been hexed 11 times just today and nothing -.-
I'd recommend wearing the Collection of Obscene Gesture Photos if you're not already. With this I was able to reach the 50 Hex achievement in no time (I went from 25 to 50 in a day or two), as well as getting the border and achievement.
If you struggle with people to ToT, I like to click on the billboards on the forums, as users tend to buy those to put their ToT link on.
I agree with the others, I like the Random ToT how it is, no hexes.
I'm pretty sure it was like this last year, though I didn't notice it. I did most of my totting with the random option, though still used the monocle. I got hexed only a very few times, and just thought I was really lucky. Thinking back on it I'm pretty sure the handful of times I got hexed it was when I was specifically totting a friend rather than using the random feature.
I love the idea of not getting hexed while using random.
Sure I don't have the border yet - so I've starting totting without random and can't wait to go back to it.

It's always been in the code that you wouldn't get hexed when doing the random ToT. I also have no plans of retiring the borders, so if you don't get it this year you always have next year.
Thank you for clearing it up :) I actually did get it yesterday but good luck to those that are still trying for it! I am so glad it is not retiring and I am assuming the pumpkin patch will be the same way since it gives out a border as well. That one I am still trying for so glad its not retiring either.
I like that it's a 0% hex because I love the shorter times and wide variety of items, and I don't want it changed, but... It has not always been that way (at least, from what we've been told).
This is the news post from the first year it was introduced. In the news post and multiple times in the comments staff worded it as "smaller chance" not "no chance".
In 2018, the random tot was borked and not available from the start. (Is this when it was changed?) From this point on, the news posts don't mention the rate of hexing.
So... There's that. Again I don't want it changed back, but this is probably why some of us remember the threat of getting hexed during random tot and had to ask if it was still a thing.
I love it when the users remember more about how Subeta works/used to work than Staff. And can prove it.
We've been told on the 20th that random ToT had a 0% chance if hexing. In a newspost, so for once, it's not a case of "hidden information"
It had a chance to hex five years ago? Well good thing that we were ACTUALLY WARNED that it doesnt work the same way it did in 2016.
Like I'm all about calling out staff when they dont know what they're doing. But un this case, we have clear information.
I agree, but I was posting all that because the day prior in the first news post there were people asking in the comments if random had small chance or no chance. Myself and other people thought it was "small chance" and I was explaining why that was, especially after being told it had always been "no chance" evidently.
Thanks for going back and checking news posts! I was just looking at the code and the last edits and hadn't seen any regarding the hexes for random trick or treating. I'm curious if at one point, based on the news posts, that it was supposed to be that small chance of hexing but it never actually made it to the code? I remember doing the random trick or treat feature the first year and it was a hot mess how quickly we put it out on the last day. Mostly because I was at a Halloween party hiding up stairs in a friend's room with my laptop when he pushed it hahaha.
