I love Morostide, as do many users. Morostide and Lumi are tied for my top two favorite Subeta holidays. As much as I want Morostide to start because I love the holiday, please don't start it until the lag for the forums and wardrobe have been addressed. This is an event that heavily uses both for user-run events. While trick-or-treating, egging houses, and TP-ing houses will work just fine, that user-run aspect of Morostide will have a lot of users extremely frustrated if the forums and wardrobe are continuously not working properly.
I disagree, honestly.
We have no timeframe where the issues will be resolved, it could possibly mean that Morostide could be postponed to a point that it would delay every other event. Or be severely shortened.
Yes, the lag is very annoying, but between a laggy event, and potentially no event at all, I'd rather have the former over the latter.
imo, as long as the basics work; Pumpkin Patch, ToT, Euclid's zapper, it's worth starting.
While I can understand this point of view, I disagree that postponing the event would be a good solution. The 2nd half of the year is really packed full in terms of events on Subeta, so postponing Morostide would make it feel even busier than it is..
The lag is annoying, but we do have work arounds, and I feel that logging in on the New Subeta site has been getting faster, so there is progress being made.
The wardrobe seems to have improved, but I get it may be a case-by case basis for users.
Lag will happen no matter what. Might as well temper expectations, be prepared to be patient, and try to have fun.
I do understand the frustration, truly, but there has always been lag, which has always gotten worse once a holiday starts and users on site go up for the duration.
Programmers are doing what they can, and as indicated above, I've noticed some things moving slightly faster lately. As previously stated, all one can really do is temper the expectations and do what they can to have fun in spite of that. Also as previously stated, better if it's somewhat slowed down than to not have it happen at all. I'd say quite a few users would throw a fit if the holiday were to get canceled entirely.

I feel like it's either going to start today or tomorrow unless the staff really don't mind extending it a few days into November, but then there's also Fireside which has already extended into December and overlapped with Luminaire the last two years or so. And the reason that the Shoutbox was closed in the sidebar and is only available on its own page is because the lag would be even worse with it.
The only thing the wardrobe is really important for is for items that reduce the chances of getting hexed and increase the chances of finding minions, which are both things that the staff might be able to change themselves if people are having too much trouble accessing the wardrobe in order to wear those items. The only big wardrobe issue I'm facing at the moment is being unable to delete outfits.
The forums are a bit more difficult, that's why most people will put the TOT links in their status. I don't really take part in competitions these days unless I'm invited or they're being run by someone I know well enough, but they usually keep the forums open after the holiday has ended so those can be finished properly.
Oh, ouch!
I also used to believe that they just needed to take the site down for a few weeks and fix all this shit, then we would have a wonderful, lag-free time. The harsh reality is that something in the code is broken past all repair, and there is not enough time/money/staff to fix it. And New Subeta seems 100x worse to me - the lag is horrendous, I can't stay logged in, it's not intuitive, I can find nothing without the dashboard, etc.
Just play where you can, and if it gets too frustrating surf on over to some other site to play. (I recommend Flightrising.) Also, ignore all announcements and promises - "This will start on (date!)" "We plan to have this out very soon!" "This is on the programmer's list to fix!" "I'll be sure to find a way to release (items) next year!" "We are planning on having (item) go out another way!" "We have plans for this! (wink) (smiley face)"
I used to adore Subeta (I've been here more than 16 years!) But I've been hearing the same shit for way too long. I still enjoy playing and have made some awesome friends here. Just I'm so jaded at this point.
Also, keep in mind that Subeta has more activity during events, so delaying events will well, bring in less money for the site.
idg why people think less content is a good solution for the problems Subeta has.
I feel like this thread's idea has been getting made year after year. It's amazing how old it is. xD I agree with the others; delaying it wouldn't really fix things and it could make things worse.
We need to trust that if staff needs to delay things, they will. Then, if they do, we can work on being patient while they work through what ever caused the delay.
Since we cannot see or understand what's going on behind 'closed doors' so to speak though, none of us have the ability to offer the judgement on whether or not a delay is appropriate or not.
I know for me, the lag does really stress me out. I may not be around much for the holiday because of it. But that's a choice I need to make for me, and maybe others may need to make that choice too.
(Plus maybe a slight stress on the servers with an influx of people may even help point out the actual issue, or help to provide more / new data for them to examine!)
I don't think they can afford to delay it much longer. It will delay everything else.
And it might put the fire under their ass. Nothing makes Staff crawl out of hiding like an expected holiday utterly breaking the site. It happens all the time during Survival.
The show must go on! You can do everything under the sun, and you'll still have lag out of nowhere. I always say, it used to be a lot worse. I don't think delaying does much good. The site needs the activity.

pls someone anyone start morostide ; - ; I'd also rather have lag and morostide than no morostide/holidays/events until it's fixed.

Here I was thinking it was some reverse psychology or way to jinx Morostide into starting, lmao! I don't use the forums as much, but tend to spend more time in forums and wardrobe when I am wanting to chit chat or change the outfit for my HA. I'd much rather Morostide start and get to TOTing!

It's coming tomorrow ;) We've been preparing the new site (wardrobe, where the forums are loaded from and should be SOME DAY) for the traffic since we took the site down for the database work.
