Okay so, loving the new experiment pets that came out. I've been sitting on a Loyalty Box that I got this year and read the description and was like "oh cool, I'll use this to change my pet to the experiment I want."
But nope. The current description:
"This item, when used, will change your pet into ANY color that you choose, no exceptions! You cannot trade or sell it. This item is just for you!"
I assumed, based on the whole "no exceptions" and "ANY" part, that meant I could change to an experiment of my choosing. What it actually means is that I can change my pet color to any color available for that particular species, but it does not allow species changes or changes into experiment pets. I wouldn't have wasted my box on this choice had I known that in advance, so I'd love to have a little caveat added somewhere in the description that it's within the current species only, since it's not any color I want without exception.
I've fixed the item note for that particular item on SubetaLodge since I know other users rely on that site to give them information not available on here, but that should be clear in the description for this option since I've now got a Loyalty Potion Totem I don't need or want.
[edit] A wording update like suggested would really I think solve any clarity issues:
"This item, when used, will change your pet into ANY color available for its species, no exceptions! You cannot trade or sell it. This item is just for you!"
Honestly since this is a loyalty item I think it should let you choose any pet / color combo available... Otherwise the worth of getting this particular potion is very low, since most colors are very cheap minus a small few cash shop ones.
I actually always assumed that's what this item did (I usually grab pet slots, but since non-unique names came out and I've been focusing on one pet at a time I might have grabbed this too, trying to get an easy experiment pet as well. T_T) because that feels like a really nice reward to give long time members o_o
Yeah, I'm super bummed because I have pretty much every potion I could want already and if I don't have it, it doesn't cost much to get most of them. I assumed it allowed that too just based on the way the item explanation is worded. I would've just held onto the box until I needed something else from it =/
It might potentially be worth it to file a ticket if only to just ask if you could have the original box back, since you chose it due to lack of information in the description? They might say no of course, but it could be worth it since there are only so many loyalty boxes you can get obviously :C
Definitely not a bad suggestion and I have just done so, thank you ❤️
Well, the Loyalty Potion is essentially a Miracle Potion, and the Miracle Potion DOES change pets into any color. The issue is that experiment pets are counted as different species, not color, so the potion you would need is Miracle Potion II.
Though I think it’s worth making an official suggestion to add a miracle potion 2 to the loyalty box.
It's every color. Species aren't a color, though - they're a different thing altogether. :D So, it's not really confusing to me.
I agree with Sopheroo I don’t find the confusing at all.
Color doesn’t mean species and never has, and we’ve always known experiments are species not colors.
It’s worded well and explains it’s any COLOR, I’m sorry you misunderstood what it meant but that’s on you for assuming that experiments were merely colors when that’s not the case, not staffs wording at all.
I think an easy fix would be:
i think the thing that's actually the most misunderstood is if experiment pets are colors or species. they did used to be more like colors, as they didn't have any forms other than the default. but since they added the scribble color for them, it becomes more clear they are a species, not a color.
while i don't think the wording itself is confusing, i can see how people would be mislead since it's such a valuable item. you could understandably assume that something from the once-a-year loyalty box would allow you to turn your pet into whatever you wanted, color and species.
i suppose this isn't a topic suggesting to change the actual use of the item, though. i don't see the harm in changing to description to what Anrivef suggested.
people might still get confused thinking experiments=colors, but there's not much else to do about that.
Scribbles are colors, are they not.

Scribble is a color. If you have a Common Kumos, you can turn it into a Scribble Kumos via Loyalty Box, but you can't turn it into a Scribble Experiment because Experiment is a species, not a color.
i could swear there was a suggestion topic about loyalty boxes but i can't find it (cue mariah's "i can't read suddenly, i don't know" etc etc), but anyway i still don't get why the loyalty totems can't just... transform into each other so that you have the ability to change your mind or fix mis-clicks?
I wonder if loyalty boxes were released before transformable items became a thing? But I agree with you - misclicks can happen, people change their mind, and it would be better if loyalty boxes were transformable, single-use items.
I'd also love it if loyalty boxes had an option to give you any species/color combo. A reward like that would be much more worthwhile imo.
The reason why they're not transformable was because sometimes, specific loyalty items were given as prize- loyalty pet slot totem had been given as an item in the early quest-a-thon
Transformable items have been a thing for a long while ;)
huh, i could've sworn the quest-a-thon pet slot prizes were all just added to the account, thanks for the info :0 guess that means i missed a quest-a-thon 🤔
Pretty sure the very first one gave us the item :D But I'm old and it could be a Berenstain Effect
i went looking 'cause i'm nosy and the oldest one i found was the summer 2015 q-a-t, and the comments indicate that the pet slot was awarded automatically, so idk! if we've ever been awarded a totem, i guess i used it and then immediately forgot about it :p
either way, if staff likes to use totems as rewards, it makes sense that they're not transformable -- but overall i think it would nice if they were! i like having options.
I don't think this is confusing at all, since it clearly says color and not species. I always thought it was pretty clear that experiments were their own species of sorts (you can't exactly look at one and go "yes, this is a special color of X, Y, or Z pet" and this has been further pushed with the Colors and Species Reference page and experiments becoming "real pets" with basic and special colors.
I do, however, agree that this item should be changed to include all experiments and colors available. A drop down menu for what pet you want, and a drop down for colors that they come in. So if you have a common kumos but want a nightmare harvester or a chibi 696, you can get it with this.
Thanks for the clarification! I guess that makes sense, though it'd still be nice if loyalty boxes were transformable now, and prizes like pet slots, etc. were just auto-added to peoples' accounts.
