I'm not sure if this is something that's going to be addressed in the long-term goal of rehauling the Subeta website, but while editing my User Profile today I accidentally deleted a blank section that contained HTML and I've lost the code forever. When you click on the color=red[/color] and delete a section, it takes into effect immediately. Deleting sections doesn't require you to click Update Order. Womp womp. 💔
This is more of a minor quality of life gripe, but in the future it would be nice if much like moving sections, if you accidentally delete a box the changes don't come into effect until you click Update Order. I just thought I'd share this thought while it's not super vital, it's just kinda annoying to lose a whole profile from a mis-click. I'll be more careful from now on, but I feel like that's one area where editing user profiles could be improved. :)
[Edit] I've been on Subeta 10 years and I've just learned you can bypass coding in blank section boxes through the profile editing page? I saw this mentioned on 's thread free simple user profile coding! Although, you need to make sure you have the profile section box actually displayed on your profile for this to work.
Agreed! I'm always so paranoid when I hit those buttons, double and triple checking that I'm on the pencil rather than the - button. And cringe should my hand/mouse slip just as I'm clicking.

Wholeheartedly agree. There should be some sort of confirmation before it is removed, at least. It's way too easy to click those things and lose what you had. :/
When I did mine, I typed everything into notepad & would paste it into the sections just to be extra safe. Also adblocked that horrible - button images, which one really shouldn't have to do to be safe, but it was better than the alternative.
There should at least be confirmation boxes.
Biggest F possible about losing that code.

I was just about to mention there is a page dedicated to updating your profile but you have already found the link for it! Is there any benefit in using the boxes on your profile anymore? Used to find it really annoying to have to fit the box in and if I took away the edit profile button there would be no return haha.

yes, I have coding in that profile place that affects the entire profile. However I also have individual profile blocks with coding in them. I could put that all together in the entire profile, but then I'd have to code the whole thing and I just don't have the coding skills to do that easily and simply. Unlike adding a blank block and just coding a simple table in there.

I would love this. Especially as I am using Subeta more and more on my phone, and I'm lowkey terrified of hitting the delete button when I just meant to zoom in.
I have several sections not included in the otherwise-able-to-be-accessed profile coding that I update on a regular basis and whose information I would not be happy losing.
I'M SO EMBARRASSED I didn't realize I had a choice. The blank boxes are sort of advertised as places for HTML code, and I never questioned whether this was outmoded or not recommended for this very reason. (Though, I feel like Subeta is the kind of website where basic user knowledge is sprinkled everywhere across the forums, which I rarely visit, so I miss out.)
I'm not really bothered by which method is better or worse, but I did enjoy the quickness/versatility of blank boxes. I just think it's unusual that nothing on your profile changes until you click Update Order except deleting sections. I'm not a coder though, so I don't know if this is something hardwired into the very fibre of the old coding lmao
Omg. I was so confused reading this thread because I know I put a confirmation pop-up on it, like... way back. I even hunted it down in the code, and there it is in our codebase history: "Confirmation prompt on deleting profile blocks" - deployed on September 20, 2017.
And then I looked more closely and I realized... there are TWO delete buttons and I guess at the time I saw the one that says DEL but I didn't notice the little red minus icon, somehow? So I had put the confirmation on the delete link but not on the icon.
Anyway, I just fixed this. I can't believe I didn't notice this for 3 whole years. Both delete buttons have confirmation pop-ups now... [sub]just as I intended 3 years ago lol[/sub]

Thank you! :D
(Although now I'm confused - where's the other delete button? All I know is the red minus button.)
Oh gosh I guess the other one is actually for admins only. Omg. shakes head at me three years ago, what was past me even doing lol
