My bf and I are super excited about Halloween and decided to make all of his lawn decorations so we're making paper mache creatures and zombies out of duct tape, saran wrap, cheese cloth and more! I'm curious if you're making anything too for spooky season too!

That's actually such a wonderful idea. Most of my siblings and I have been quarantined at home since April so I think that working on some cool Halloween decor would be a great distraction! We had a lot of fun last year making fake tombstones and covering our bushes in spiderwebs ;) Maybe this year we can make some creepy covers for our windows or some fake mummies for our front law!
I have no idea what I'm going to do in it (my sister thinks there will still be trick-or-treating? If so I guess I'll go with her and my niece? Like maybe there will just be buckets of candy placed outside idk) but I'm making a Hera costume from Star Wars Rebels. If nothing else, I'll have a costume the next time a cosplay event comes around.
(art by KayBit on Dappervolk)That sounds like lots of fun! And it's fun doing it with other people for sure!
Great idea! I dressed up as Hera once too!

I guess I'm not persay making anything new for Halloween, but I am improving on my Veterinarian Yoosung Kim (Mystic Messenger character) cosplay to wear. My fiancee and I are having a nice horror movie marathon for the night to enjoy.

Halloween is the best! i had never thought of trying to make paper mache things for the yard, where I live it almost never rains so we have more room for creativity when it comes to outdoor decorations. One year, my friends and I got together to run a little haunted house in the garage, and it was so much fun!
I gotta start on it so I can finish it in time, but I’m planning on making a pretty stylized CARRION costume

I'm a little late, but using wood carving or clay tools on pumpkins helps make the COOLEST faces when you try to make realistic ones. They're so much easier to use than a knife or a pumpkin carving kit, it's really fun!

I know Halloween is behind us but I did do something that worked really well and thought I'd share it. I was pushed for time this year and we wanted to make the groups of trick or treaters feel safe. As there were a lot of pumpkins that hadn't sold I bought 4 and carved scary mouths into them. We didn't hollow them out so they were still filled with seeds and the like. But what we did do was use only wrapped sweets and hid them inside the pumpkins' mouths. We put out a pumpkin for each group and stood back. Once they'd gathered their share, we could put the used pumpkins in the compost ready for next year's gardening season. It was a surprisingly quick way to carve a pumpkin and had the kids having fun daring each other to try and find the sweets in the slimy insides. We're going to try it again next year. :)
Last Halloween I tried to make some monster fish mask inspired by puppeteering and haunted house special effects videos I've watched in the past- I just settled going as a vampire hunter instead.
Halloween is so much fun! >w< Last year I started a cosplay of Bee from Bee and Puppycat, her outfit from the finale where she goes to the donut kitchen with Deckard. I have all of the materials, and I finished the shoes, but I still have to make the apron. I'm working with cotton for the first time, and it frays and unravels, so I actually need a sewing machine so I can use an overlock stitch on the seams to keep the fabric from coming undone. I've never actually used a sewing machine before ^^; My mom said she'd pay half as a present, but I don't have the space for a sewing machine, so it's on hold for now
I'd like to get a giant crochet spider finished before Halloween, but I'm very much an "every day is Halloween" person so it doesn't matter if it doesn't get finished in time 😊 I might make myself some costume bits too. I was going to do a crossover of My Hero Academia and Disney's Hercules last year by modding my Aizawa cosplay to be Phil because they have similar vibes. I might try to do that this year instead!

In 2020 I made a "candy chute" for socially-distanced candy delivery (it was literally just a length of PVC attached to the porch step railing). Last year I bought a skeletal duck that sat next to me on the porch. I named her Tangerine and the kids really liked her. Money is tight right now, so I don't know that I'll be buying more decorations, but maybe I'll get creative with like, cheap sheets from Goodwill or something.

I wanna say yes but I'm not sure at all what I wanna go as :') I'm still deciding
I'm curious how you made fake tombstones!
I already (kind of) made a wreath by buying a circle of black glittery branches from michaels and adding some spooky fake flowers that I thrifted last year.
I also wanna paint some glass bottles and jars to look like Sally's jars- deadly nightshade, frog's breath, and wormswort.

No, absolutely nothing and I'd rather avoid this holiday because I absolutely dislike scary stuff. I do like pumpkins though - I love pumpkin soup! Maybe I'll make pumpkin soup soon.

To make a fake tombstone all we do is cut the shape out of cardboard. My mom made some this year and covered them in paper mache to make them have some texture. I'm thinking of trying to make a skeleton this year. I'm pretty handy with paper mache but I just hope I make the skeleton accurately :)
that sounds ambitious but it'll be so cool when you pull it off
