i can't afford style file. i don't trust my harddrive. i have 700+ saved outfits because the wardrobe is this site's most important feature for me. considering the amount spent on CWs, i know i'm not alone. please dont take them away from me.
Gold is forever.
Sadly it seems like having the 'unlimited' aspect is a huge part of why the site lags. That's why we no longer have unlimited items in shops, for example. It sucks, but when everyone can have unlimited it just begins to stunt the site and things need to change.
Style File is free, you just have limited uploads. There are other places around the web you can upload the images to if you want as well, there are ways around it.
I don't like limiting the number of avatars either, but in the end I understand why it's a thing and I'd rather this than the alternatives.
You won't lose your current avatars. has said that old avatars will become labeled as "legacy"

I don't like having limits, but if its needed, its what it will be.

I personally use Google Drive. It connects across multiple devices and I feel it is much safer. In my experience there's also a ton of space

i read the post but i dont think 250 is enough tbh. like i said ive already got over 700 so i'll fill them up in no time. i dont think most people use as many as i do so i dont see the problem? i guess if they had any transparency we could see if they actually cause that much trouble. it just feels like an unnecessary limit like the old layering limits. or another way to make fucking gold accounts the only tolerable way to use the site.
Gold is forever.
I'm surprised we didn't have a limit already. I understand that it's necessary to reduce loading problems, even if I think 250 for non-GA users is a bit low. You just have to prioritise which outfits you want to keep saved.
Google Docs, screencap the saved ones with the item list loaded, solved.
But why on earth do you need 700. I'm lucky to come up with three.

Listen. I've had my fair clashes with the site staff and there are some instances where yes, it is clear that they are trying to get more money.
This is not one of them.
They are not trying to make having a GA the only tolerable way to use the site, they are trying to make it more useful in general. The vast majority of GA people get one for the autopricer and not much else, this has been stated time and again in the GA forums. The staff are looking for ways to make a GA more valuable so that more people will buy one to help support the site, which is not a bad thing.
You said yourself most people probably don't have as many outfits as you, and it's been stated by the staff that having unlimited things is what got the site into a lot of its lag problems to begin with so they have to start putting on a limit if they want to fix it with their current budget. We all wish Subeta had the money to let everyone have unlimited everything and pay for the server hosting space, but they do not.
So please. Instead of just complaining that the staff are trying to screw you over by imposing this limit try listening to the other suggestions here. Yes having the limit sucks, but it's for the betterment of the site as a whole and what people have suggested here are great ways to go around that going forward.
I'd rather have a limit than have the site lag and break down repeatedly because a couple hundred users have 700+ saved avatars. Most of which they probably don't even use again after saving them.
As people have said before on the thread, you don't have to pay for stylefile. Imgur is a thing. Gdocs is a thing.
Don't expect a website that's doing its best to keep working to cater to a minority that is choking the site down for everyone else. If the whole site could learn to deal with big shop & gallery limits compared to how the old shops used to work, you too will manage with the new saved avatar limit. If capping outfits means playing a site that doesn't shit itself quite as much during events, imo it's a sacrifice worth making.
Also... You can literally afford a GA with sP. People that buy GAs with real money help support the site and keep it running. The only worthwhile GA features currently are the autopricer and extra quests. So can you please not with the "omg they just want to cater to fucking GAs" nonsense? Thanks!
I support this change. Limits like this one are positive because they make the site more sustainable.
A “you” problem shouldn’t have an impact (especially a negative one) on the site as a whole.

I still don't like the limits bc I save bits and pieces of avatars. "Oh hey, this might be part of a cool idea, but I'm making something else right now, so let me save it."
I can't save bits like that anymore.
BUT
I do understand the need for limits. So I'm not too upset.
Leaving features unlimited has hurt the site over the years, and I think 500 is a plenty high enough limit, personally (250 also sounds plenty high to me, but it's not like a GA is totally inaccessible for the higher limit and also, I don't use the save feature long-term very often so grain of salt and all that)
These are your saved outfits. You have 1265.
LOL I have 1,265 outfits right now, I am completely dismayed at the limit. However, the limit won't remove existing outfits. We know a limit will now exist, and have the opportunity to modify how we use the wardrobe and decide what really needs to be saved. I'm very happy that the limit is being implemented this way and I don't have to go back and delete the stuff that already exists.
I don't want this limit, but I know its necessary and I'll just have to learn to adjust.

I understand that it sucks when limits are imposed. But just the number of outfits you and Lypsyl threw out, between the two of you you've got about 2k saved outfits. I'm sure there's plenty of other users with that many or more. And that's nuts.
Saved outfits aren't "free" in the bandwidth/storage/whatever sense. Not only is there the saved image of the outfit, the site also has to remember every item and it's images. And it has to remember them in the correct order blah blah blah so you can load it and wear it. Now, maaaaaybe that info is stored on some out-of-the-way part of the computer where it never effects anything until a user loads their outfit screen. But I kind of doubt it. This is probably much like the crazy super-stores of yore, or the wish list. Rather than rolling around Subeta with one HA, you've got hundreds of unused HAs hanging out in the shadows slowing everything down.
I'm a user who's probably using the outfit system 'as the dev's intended'. I have 12 saved. If I got back into making HAs a lot like I used to, I could see that number go up to maybe 20 or 50. Beyond that, there's really no need. I take wardrobe screenshots of outfits I like. I used to put them on StyleFile, I think. You can use your google docs. Create an imgur album. The possibilities for saving your outfits are pretty endless. Especially since you probably don't change your outfit 2-3 times a day to where you desperately NEED hundreds and hundreds of saved backups. The drawers in the wardrobe are also supposed to help with that, by letting you group items by theme / style / colors / whatever you want.
imo 250/500 is pretty freaking generous, when there's so many alternatives available.
If it improves site performance, I'm all up for having them. Yea it is gonna suck for some people, but I think a better running site is the greater good in this case.
i just have a sneaking suspicion that theyre implementing the limit is a way to make people buy GAs and not because remembering a few items (its not like they arent remembering those items anyway) in an order (like half a line of code) is going to improve the site performance. it feels like keith is implementing P2W features because the site is dying
Gold is forever.
Well, even if. With the bathouse (150 CSC per 30 days= price of a week of GA every month) + your yearly loyalty box (3 months GA per year) you can have a GA for free for about half a year each year (and that is pretty danm generous of the staff might I say), With some restocking/questing and use of the autopricer it should be easy to get a GA year round for no real life money.
If they truly want to earn more money on GA's they should probably scale down on the freebies first.
I am all for subeta finding more sources of income to pay staff and keep the site afloat (tho I don't think that is what is happening at all with the outfit limit)
That was... admittedly... kinda rude.

I really don't think paying for saved avatars is really pay to win at all... nor are unlimited saved avatars really necessary. There is lots of places you put them (eg, imgur) for free with unlimited space if you really need to host the pictures somewhere.
If it helps with the site's functionality, I'm all for limiting it. Most things have already been limited already. Plus playing on subeta without a gold account is just fine so providing a small incentive doesn't bother me.
