I know, you guys do whatsoever to make the site work. And still, the site always breaks down when an event comes up. Or a maintenance. Or both. Luminaire is my very most beloved event, and AGAIN it doesn't work properly. Due to the horrible lag in the first place, but also to many other errors. I try and stay positive because its the most wonderful time of the year, but Subeta will not be part of anything wonderful.
iirc they're working on tearing up super old code and replacing it with newer, more efficient coding because of the server move. The programming team is very small, but they're doing the best they can.
I'm really not loving it either, but I just don't play as much as I used to and I do something else in the meantime. I don't want to stress myself out. :/ Can't comfortably buy from the Cash Shop, or take part in Fireside if the site's still giving out errors even when there's less users online, but it's nothing I can fix, so I move on.
I can 100% agree, I am beyond tired of it but Subeta has about 3-4 coders I think if not even less. Websites use thousands and thousands of lines of code and Subeta was built upon old broken code that got replaced with newish now broken code due to the move. It's going to take some time for them to go through, identify the problems, then sit there and recode that section. Best you can do is try doing quests when the least amount of traffic is on, keep a second website open to play on during the rest of the time so you can do something else while Subeta works itself out. I am glad they got it to this point because right at the start, it was just dead awful. Couldn't hardly do quests at all, now I can manage them with maybe 1-2 being slowed to the point of a 15 point token now. That's a lot of progress compared to having 6-7 of them do that at a time.
I'd rather have no holiday celebration then if it means getting a fully-functional site again. Less work for staff to worry about.

Same here. I was worried I wouldn't be able to make any purchases during Black Friday due to errors. Thankfully that didn't happen, but still....
I've mainly been watching the SB and working on pet stories. I'm still itching for any new angelic pets that might come out this year though.
Perhaps Subeta needs to do a search for more coders....I didn't know there were only four people in the coding team!!!! :O

Didn't they say SB was causing a lot of issues with the server? Maybe it should be disabled again and re-worked or removed for good. It comes down to what makes the site function properly at this point. I would hate to remove something that many people seem to use but if it's causing errors... yeah.
Also, I'm just taking a guess on the people for coding, I honestly cannot remember but I know it's about a handful of people currently.
@blackwolf_2009
They were able to bring the SB back and its been working fine so far. The SB, I mean.
But yeah, I still think it's time to start looking for more coders.

Finding anyone who is willing to work for free isn't likely...unless maybe could offer some kind of volunteer opportunity for students who need experience in order to move up in the field. Scary thought, but the possibility of striking gold with some coders fresh in or out of school, might not be a bad option at this point. Heck, maybe even some of them would stick around if they wanted to.

Not a bad idea honestly. Providing an internship for aspiring coders could help boost the image of the site....

It's a win-win for everyone involved. Free work being done on the site, they get the experience they need to move up, might mean our staff can chill a bit more and go back to working on new content or ideas. Gives the site some publicity and recognition for being a great asset in getting students on their feet.
It'd be an ideal scenario, though I don't know all the semantics involved with running such a program. The idea just hit me right then, and it seems like it might be a potential solution, if Keith is up to it. =)

Unpaid internships are also becoming a big no-no in the industry - just because someone is a student doesn't mean they don't deserve a form of renumeration.
Well shit, can't have anything nice anymore apparently. It wouldn't be that way I imagine if college alone didn't cost so much to begin with.
Still, the world of programming and coding is ripe and a good degree to invest into at least.

No, college and universities are cheap in Canada, and the ethics of unpaid internships is still questionable - they are using their time and energy to benefit your company.
Subeta will gain a profit from their work, therefore, the people working on it should have a payment out of it. Students aren't here for corporations to get free labor.
Ah, see, it's different here in the states atm. Did not know that higher education was cheaper in Canada. You guys are lucky. As for internships here, I don't know the attitude towards them. I always assumed experience was more than enough, but that is my personal opinion towards the matter.
