The new item menus make it much harder to mass read or stat boost with tomes.

Now that the use functionality is hidden behind a sub menu, it adds a precision mouse click on a small box and turned a 2 step repeasting process into a 3 step repeating process, and it did not remove scrolling unless you have 40+ pets.

The item menu is mostly blank useless space, that is only taking up one third of the screen. There is a ton of space that could drop the scrolling way down. Tons of things could be consolidated into rows instead of the current giant column layout.

If you want to put "Put in treasure" behind a sub menu that isn't a big deal and fixes a lot of the scrolling that people with 40+ pets have. And if people are mass adding to treasure they are doing it with the mass add page so putting this behind a click isn't nearly as obnoxious as adding a click to something you might be trying to do 300+ of at a time.

But the old menus were so much better for mass reading or mass stat boosting. A rollback to the old menus is better than what we currently have though.

There is Custom CSS that can expand the item menus. Thread here: Custom CSS

I agree that the item menu could be made into two columns, although that might be problematic for some mobile users. As for having the use/read/play/whatever options immediately visible, I don't feel strongly either way.

I mean the entire thing sucks in general too on both a computer and on mobile. If you fix it on a computer at least it doesn't suck in one place.

If you open a Tome, you literally can't see the options to read it to a pet or use it as a booster.

There are only 9 things you can do with a tome: *Remove from wishlist *Move to a Shop *Move to your Vault *Donate *Delete *Send to a Friend Read Use Treasure

And on a normal screen you can only see the 6 items with an astereisk. An entire page worth of UI space is dedicated to the 6 least useful functions of the item, that could all fit in a single line of text links like the battle page navigation menu.

If this was all designed with a mobile layout in mind so that you couldn't do something like fat finger delete an item that would be one thing, but the links are still stacked on top of each other making it hard to use on a mobile layout too.

I wouldn't mind putting the lists next to each other. That said, keep the read and use options separate lists. I use an absolute ton of tomes and having them separate is a huge deal for me.

While I understand this is not beneficial to all people, I for one appreciate not having to scroll through 95 pets every time I get a SBQ invite to get to the place where you turn it in. Or not having to scroll through 95 pets to get to the use function instead of read. Or to bypass two sets of 95 pets to get to the treasure function. I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE the new menus.

What about having multiple options for item menus? Like have it be an option to use the old layout or the new, or program it so the desktop site and the mobile site automatically use different layouts. I can see benefits to the new menu on mobile devices, since I misclick all the time on mobile, but I never use the mobile site for this stuff so it never applies to me.

For users with a huge amount of pets (like ) a dropdown list might be more effective, or a blank box that auto-populates with your pets' names if you start typing in it (similar to the account search feature). I can see how this might be confusing for users, but if it something to opt-into and not default, users who know how to use it would do so. Since it's possible to get a massive number of pets on the site, I think more customized item menus are necessary, since having 10 pets on a list is in no way similar to having 40+ (or even fewer).

I still would love to be able to set a particular pet as my Battle/Reader/Gourmet, though, and make it be one click every time. :/ For folks who have multiple pets to read to/feed/boost, users should be able to change those designations whenever they want, too.

The main thing I need to use the new menus for is just feeding my gourmand, and even that is a pain in the ass every time. I can see the appeal, but for me, this layout invovles at least the same amount of scrolling plus an extra click. Everything is way too spaced out, and I don't really feel like I'm saving any time because of it, even for things like SubQ invites where I would have 50+ pets in front of the redeem option.

There's a Suggestions thread for choosing one pet to show up outside the lists for reading/feeding/etc. and I think that alone would solve a lot of people's issues with the item menus. They're still unnecessarily spread out and people who read to every pet, for instance, would still have to expand the menus, but it's still a step above what it is now imo

I'd love a "use all" option, you have 25 tomes all stats go to pet X (where you can choose the pet, maybe from a drop down list). Be even better to have a read all books in inventory to X pet.

As somebody with a shit ton of pets, I really appreciate the new change for not having to scroll past so many pets to do one thing. Though I can see that it can be unnecessary for users with less pets. Besides custom css, maybe there could be an option to turn on/off the sub menu.

What I miss about the old item menu is after feeding a pet, you get a "Back" link directly under the message to go back to your inventory. And now we don't have that handy link anymore. I know I can go to the top bar and click "personal" to get back to my inventory, but it's just not as convenient as before, or maybe I just need more time to adjust to the new change. Please ignore this, I was just talking about new item menu in general and casually moving a few things around, and not mass moving things. Sorry for being an idiot who can't read a post title xD.

I like the item menus, but I agree that there's definitely room for improvement.

The one thing that struck me as odd was how difficult it was to get rid of the padding & margins with customCSS. If it wasn't for this topic, I wouldn't have known that I had to explicitly specify the inventory.php page in any CSS coding if I want to remove the padding. If you try to edit it without specifying, most of Subeta's pages are going to look dodgy as all hell. Considering how friendly the site generally is when it comes to users editing the layout with customCSS, this doesn't feel right.

There's still a lot of white space on the sides of the item menu page. I'd like to have a wearable preview on that page because hovers can be unreliable on mobile.

One thing that would make the inventory page much easier for mass-reading/feeding/boosting - letting us selectively minimize/expand the Feed To/Read To categories instead of having to click every time. Think of the sidebar and the way you can close some widgets when you don't need them, but they're always there if you change your mind. Or how we can do it with forum categories. They don't re-open on their own when you move to the next page, they stay minimized until you click the little arrow to expand. So if you're mass-reading - expand the Read To category and go wild with mass-reading. Once you're done, collapse it and go mass-boost, or mass-feed your pets.

Also - please keep the collections in their own section. Having a link to the minion zoo right under the vault link is frustrating when you're manually sorting your inventory on autopilot. The minion zoo is a collection - please group it in the same section as plushies, beanbags, trading cards, etc.

The thing that is just glaringly bad about the item menus to me is that probably the least useful options for the items are at the top of the page and it completely forces the more useful options off the screen.

Clearly they don't have the recources to reinvent the wheel with fancy code, but move delete, donate, remove from wishlist, and send to freind to the bottom of the page off screen.

Thats actually a pretty inefficient way to mass feed/read/boost pets anyways. What you should do is right click each of the 10 items you intend to feed to open tabs in a new window, and then control+W the window closed without waiting for it to load each time after you hit feed. What probably takes you 1-2 minutes of sequential page loads would be reduced to about 15 seconds the way I outlined (assuming you have the CSS that default opens the menus, without the CSS probably takes 45 seconds-60 seconds with the extra clicks.).

ok, so i had a couple of thoughts... sloppy mockup time!! so for instance wearables could have their 'move to wardrobe' option up with the other move options, and shops could function as a dropdown instead of having to go through a secondary page; items with special options like redeeming subq invites, items with a standalone 'use' option, transformables, etc. would have those under "special" which i think is how they are now. and then...

version that still has dropdowns - not ideal:

aaaaand version with pet names all listed out - potentially better??

obviously there are still things to think about like potential for misclicks, column width adjusting to especially long pet names, etc. i dunno if it'd be crazy to suggest something like color-coding the different options so each column would have a corresponding background color, so you don't mistakenly choose the wrong option (especially if you have so many pets that you've had to scroll waaaaay down and forgot which column is which because you can't see the header anymore). idk, just some thoughts!! quasi-amateur web designer doin my best over here!!

(actually i had another thought, can you do 'embedded' sticky headers with bootstrap and/or javascript or somethin? so the header of a given table column stays visible even as you scroll down the page? not sure... i ain't a programmer)

Just want to post I haven't been ignoring this -- this weekend I'm going to try to sort out a few ideas people have suggested about this (like making your active pet at the top or designate a reading pet or something).

Like I posted on the General Updates a while back, the item menus are in no way done! I've got a list of stuff I want to do, life has just been a lot lately.

I just had a look under the hood to see what the coding was like, and discovered that each section did not have a unique name. I was disappointed to discover this, because I personally will never, ever need to use the Donate/Delete items and would love to hide that div.

I also would like a way to hide the description if possible - some of them are short and sweet but then you have ones like the one below that give you a whole story.

Being able to get rid of both of these things would surely help with scrolling (and with accidental button pressing in the case of Donate/Delete). Bug did something similar to the "return to Training Center" buttons which allowed people to choose whether they wanted to jump to the same pet or go back to the beginning of the page, and it's worked pretty nicely thus far.

Also: I'm wondering if there is a way that would automatically label each pet so that one could code it so that only certain ones show up in the lists. On user profiles, if you use the Pets section, each pet is labeled 0 through however many you have minus 1 (because it starts on 0). I've found this handy in the past when I wanted to not show some pets on my profile but I still wanted to use the Pet section.

Could something similar be done in the item lists? For me personally, I'd love to take everyone but Reverai off my feed to list, and there are certain pets I'd like to take off my read to list. I could use coding like this:

.card-body-food {display:none;} Or whatever. It would make me sooo happy. And might make the people who dislike long scrolling happy too, if they could remove the pets from the lists that they knew they didn't need to give things to.

I'd like this too. If I'm going to individually boost numerous pets, then I will, but I typically boost Elfric since the training center is of no use to him anymore. It'd also make it easier for mass-reading to each pet, especially since I'll have multiple copies anyways.

Frenchies isn't bad the 2 notes I would have for it would be to maybe move the "move" section to the bottom of the page, since if your moving through the item menu its probably a 1 off thing since quick stock is much nicer for moving multiple things.

And I would also move the item info to the right of the page. One of the most annoying things about mass reading books is that that very variable item descriptions make the pages jump around. Moving it off to the side would at least standardize that a little.

Designating a reading pet probably isn't a great way to do it, (unless your going to give us a mass read page), because when your mass reading many people are mass reading to multiple pets, and just reading whatever book they clicked on to the next availible pet that hadn't previously read it.

Some of the things mentioned here are possible with CSS alone! [box=#fff]Selectively Collapse Sections Set the default state to be open based on what you need quick access to. For example could expand books, weapons, and stat boosters, while leaving everything else closed by default.

Define Pet Roles Set your preferred pet(s) for each item use type. Whether the section is open by default, or has to be clicked, this makes it easier and faster to use an item on the correct pet, especially if they aren't at the very top of your pet order, or you have more than ~20. [/box]

[box=#e5f3ff]

Code on Pastebin (because Subeta is removing the backslashes sigh)

Customize It • Plug in your pet ID • Copy/paste as needed if you have more than one pet to highlight. • To leave a section collapsed (Food, for example), remove all lines that mention "" from the code. [/box]

advanced code Non Pet Roles You can set all pets except one to be hidden. If there's a case where you will truly only use an item on one pet, this is perfect. Saves a ton of space whether the section is expanded by default or not. /** Pet Roles: NON Collector / .card-body a:not([href="petid=95348"]) + br, .card-body a:not([href="petid=95348"]) { display: none; }

Preferred Shop/Gallery Marks your main shop/gallery, for people who have too many. Code on Pastebin

😘💪 Not entirely, the section title will remain, but the links are gone at least! a[href="/inventory.php"].container .card.col-12.m-2 h3.card-titlea[onclick="return confirm('Are you sure you wish to donate this item?');"], a[href="/inventory.php"].container .card.col-12.m-2 h3.card-titlea[onclick="return confirm('Are you sure you wish to donate this item?');"]+br, a[href="/inventory.php"].container .card.col-12.m-2 h3.card-titlea[onclick^="return confirm('Are you sure you want to delete"] { display: none; }

Also added two more bonus snippets to the bottom of my first post.

[edit] Sorry, dupe ping because what I said is only half true! You could hide an item use section entirely if you really wanted to, but not Move Item, Discard item, or Send to a Friend sections.
