I didn't understand this poll or how it worked, so my actual accepted vote was a surprise to me.

The voting options for the "revamp poll" made my headache worse. :(

About the poll revamp itself, I really don't like how weirdly formatted the polls you've voted on are. Especially the ones where your vote was an image. Can closed polls and ongoing polls we've voted on please get separated? And compressed or condensed instead of being a mile-long scroll? I think those would be neat QoL improvements.

Yeah we kind of needed some space between the options or bigger radio buttons. Or thumbnail images that would pop up larger but still not change the window.

I wish there was a divider to make it easier to read and I feel like a LOT of people could have voted for something they may not like? I personally think the new poll is gross as well and luckily i didnt accidentally vote for that one... It is too large and thats coming from someone who needs glasses to read properly.

That poll confused me... and also what was the point of it if the revamps were already made? I'm not complaining about the free sP, but it doesn't feel like our opinions matter when we get polled after the fact.

Also I agree with Frost's suggestions for improvements to the page in general!

@ Balloon I think the point of that poll was to bring attention to the fact that polls are revamped? At least that seems to be the general consensus. It's not a real poll.

Side-effects of the poll revamp poll may include: confusion, headaches, migraines and a general feeling of "was this really necessary?" 😕

The thing about comedy is that the joke needs to actually be funny, else it just comes off as cringey and tryhard.

I'm a little put off that the polls being revamped was presented as a genuine (if very confusing) poll. Like my initial thought was "here's the revamp, but everyone doesn't like it we'll go back so vote." I get it was meant in fun but it was hard to sparse the images, then realizing I had (incorrectly) for no reason was. A bit disappointing. I mean polls aren't used that often / for that many important things, so it's not a big deal, just off-putting.

It took me a moment and a half to figure out what was being asked, but in the end I did find that I prefer the new format and voted for the new layout.

I get the blowback but I feel that this is a really small thing to get worked up over...like, this is a minor enough change that it's ok that it's an after-the-fact joke. If there is a significant amount of bad feels about this, I think that reflects more on something larger about the site than this particular question. Good poll update. Can we have more polls please?

Btw, as a best practice approach to all things "democratic": never vote on anything if you aren't sure of what you're voting for. Like seriously figure it out first, even if it's hard.

I get the joke, I think. Couldn't find it in me to laugh because the visuals of the poll sparked a headache that evolved into migraine later that night. Bit hard to laugh when you feel like someone's aggressively jamming an ice pick into your eyesocket.

The new main polls page feels unfinished and there is so much white space everywhere, so the announcement felt a bit unusual.

None of the other revamped pages got news posts (like the wishlists, which are way more used than polls) so it feels odd to draw attention specifically to polls when bigger things only got a mention in the monthly siteupdate topic.

Maybe they'll start making news posts about revamps of other site features in the future and this was the test run? idk, but it does feel like the polls def could've used a tiny spot more polish before the big announcement.

sooo i think the new poll design is definitely cleaner and more in line with modern web aesthetics, and of course it's hard to gauge what a proper poll will look like when all we've seen so far is a confusing "choose between these two images but the images are weirdly enlarged and have text & radio buttons which makes it difficult to distinguish between the images and the actual page content" (which umm violates some web usability & accessibility guidelines but whatever it was just for funsies); that said here are my Thots™:

1. a simple border between each option would more clearly delineate which radio button corresponds to which choice.
2. we shouldn't have to click a separate link to view the results. voting should take us straight to the results page, with an indication of which choice we voted for. (maybe styling it as bold green text, though that could be misinterpreted as a statement of which poll option "won"; perhaps a little "your vote" badge thingy? idk.)
3. the polls overview page has absurd amounts of unused horizontal space. instead of displaying one poll per line, i think they ought to use more of a multi-column / gridded / masonry layout.
4. image polls are tricky because the images themselves tend to stretch the content vertically while doing little to fill the resultingly-huge horizontal white space. i feel like they might need different formatting - maybe displaying two or more images per row when the user's screen is wide enough, with the radio buttons under the corresponding image, and horizontal AND vertical borders between each option.

[edit]oh wow i'd already voted in every poll so i wasn't able to see how plain text polls looked. yikes, the centering is no good! all options should be left-justified for easier reading and consistent alignment of the radio buttons.

This is another one of those weird site revamps that seems to just be a CSS update which is presented as an improvement, when the page itself really needs more attention in terms of how the information is presented and how the page functions. Like why are there two different links to each poll (act=view and act=vote) that direct to the same place?

I actually did think it was a bit funny. like 'wow guys' haha. i like being on a site that has a human feel to it, sometimes things are random and dumb or silly or whatever

It wasn't possible to look it over to figure it out first. I'm presuming this was both intentional and a troll. It accepted my misclicks and spacebars that I was using to navigate the page as a vote. I was trying to move the page around so that I could see more of it to tell what was going on.

Yo dawg, we put a poll in your poll so you can vote while you vote. I do feel bad for Ariel because the joke missed the mark with a good number of users (me included), but that poll was pretty disorienting. Here's hoping the next one's better.

I dunno, I feel like some staff act like this all the time or on nearly every news post, so it gets old fast. I have a headcold atm, so that poll was confusing and just made me feel even worse.
