Hello again. I'm running into a brick wall and I'm not sure what I should change to get over it.
My battler: Anozira Tier 8 Level: 449 Health: 1770 Strength: 1002 Defense: 1003 Speed: 952 AP: 87
(Her SDS stats got a little out of whack because of tomes, but I'm working on evening them out again.)
Weapons Arsenal: (Ol Blue and Rainbow Quill are hardly used.)
Scrolls List: Sancturia Exodin Screams From the Pit Assassin Shriek of Despair Divine Denizhen
+Randomly equipped potions
But I have yet to be able to beat any Level 21 opponent.
I feel like I'm missing something big, to go from it being a breeze to it being impossible. But I'm not sure where to turn. Am I missing an important weapon or scroll? Do I need to train Anozira more? Is it unreasonable to expect a Tier 8 pet to beat Level 21? I'm just not sure what to do.
Even if I could just figure out how to beat one of the Level 21 opponents, it would be helpful!
Well the opponents definitely do get tough in this range! You really have to look at it on a challenger-by-challenger basis as of this point, especially at T8. I'm not sure if you could take on Saggi or Sandragon, but I imagine you could take down Gate Keeper & Cursed Effigy. You need to have separate strategies and weapons/scroll sets for each of these opponents, so it definitely won't just be blind clicking.
I'd recommend you start by reading Mr Cool's guides on each opponent, and taking the advice there to see if you can beat any of them: Cursed Effigy Saggi Sandragon Gate Keeper
Are those all the weapons in your armory? You'll need some upgrades. :)
[edit] Also wanted to link you to Comprehensive Guide to Battle Opponents (v2), which is infinitely useful any time you are taking on a new opponent. It helps to study what icons they are dealing damage with (so you know what to block) and what they block (so you know what to attack with). :)
I agree with that you'll need to upgrade your set.
The Rainbow Quill and Ol Blue are way past their optimal usefulness. There are also options better than the Bluud Wand. I have a list of stuff below you should consider.
Weapons: Acorn Bomb Amulet of Drakkonis Blessed Trident of the Banished One Item Hunters Bomb Large Gutting Knife Malice Prodigy Staff Reviver of the Lion Scientist Specs Soma Tablets Turkey Quill
Healing Scrolls: Aftershocks Feather Explosion Ocean Currents
Your weapon set could definitely use an upgrade. I'm a bit out of the loop with the t8 stuff though. I've never used the Ultima Plus Tag myself, so I'm unsure of it's efficiency. Long term it would be better to replace them with which blasts an opponents weapon (plus has a small chance to freeze, applies a blessing and a curse). Your Bluud Wand has a lot of healing power, but lacks severly in damage. It's nice to have, but maybe only to use when you really need the healing. The Cursed Effigy has healing disabled, so it won't do you any good there. Ol blue and Rainbow Quill can probably be replaced. Frost Thorn is getting a bit outdated too. If you really really want, you could replace the Gorgun with a slightly better freezer. But maybe it's not worth the investment and just wait for t9 to be able to use the . Otherwise, is a great freezer for t8. Now for weapons. Uhh. I'm really a bit out of the loop. Personally I used , and at t8, but those are probably horribly expensive now. (omg, I just checked, the gutting knife is only 200k, get that, NOW. It blocks light, that should help against Saggi). The might be nice against the effigy, but it's a bit on the expensive side maybe. If you're looking for a weapon without heal, is the one for you. It packs quite a punch. It's more or less an upgrade of your Frost Thorn. Full blockers like and are nice for opponents that have healing and freezing disabled. However, they're freakishly expensive, so it might be better to try and borrow those from someone, to see whether they help. I have to admit, I don't use them very often, so they're pretty niche. Better spend your SP elsewhere.
Your scrolls need an upgrade as well. Aftershocks would be really nice to get as infinite healing scroll. Maybe you can try to get the scroll pieces from the other challengers to make to have an extra freezing scroll. A couple of might also help with blocking fire and dark. Might be nice for the Effigy.
I'm going to bookmark this thread to upgrade my own set. My battle pet is T9 (close to T10) but I'm also struggling with opponents above battle quest . The struggle is real! Though I have heard that T9 is really awkward, because it doesn't get a lot of weapons that are useful for the end game just yet. If I need to get rid of any T9 stuff once I get to T10 I'll message you!
Agreed with others that you need to update weapons and scrolls. I disagree with some of the suggestions.
Saggi will be hard without the dark block, but may be doable. Cursed effigy, the gate keeper and mornrise should all be T8.
Affordable options for T8 to help with BQs: Scientist specs, forj tempered shield, large gutting knife, Ice King Clawed Gloves, Smoldering Slaglord Gauntlets, turkey quill, Maliss Cannon, arrow harpoon, rapier of error
Worthy investments: Soma tablets Reviver of the lion- I would get the tablets first Blessed trident - only if you can find it at the right price! I love this weapon a lot, but it’s not worth buying at 400 mil+ if you only have 1 per above T8
Scrolls: Aftershocks Sanc More cobalts Perilous whirlpool Gift of the forj - worth the investment even I it’s just for 1. You can win a second from mama fork
Freezing scrolls - you need to equip as many as possible to get the full benefits Shriek of despair Cold blast - you should be able to make one of these by beating mama mush and daemon 75 times More perilous whirlpool
I think its only your weapons that are the problem.
21+are basically a big cliff unless you train in very specific ways or if you have very specific (expensive) weapons
Trained relatively even, which I would still put you in that catagory, it probably takes a T9 to beat most of the opponents. The people that are beating BQs early are doing things like HP and STR only builds.

Ooh, maybe is nice against Saggi. It's another one of those created with scroll pieces, so essentially free.
I agree with there's a steep curve starting at 21.
I remember getting a Sentinel for the healing and then using two combined legendaries. Years ago you could get whatever mod crystals just by buying them and they were easy to chock in and throw away and each combined legendary gave me four slots for eight total, that's a lot of extra icons of defense/attack versus whatever you are fighting. Probably can't affod to do that now.
If you have a big enough Armory you can keep weapons that are kinda okay but work well with mods chocked in and make a separate set for each challenger. Large Gutting Knife is seriously cheap right now, so grab that one just on account.
The stats should be fine for the all of the level 21-24 opponents except saggi and sanddragon. My T6 with 1,300 health at the time was able to get at least 1 win for BQs. T8 should be fine with the right weapons and scrolls. GE is also doable with at least 1,600 HP and enough freezing scrolls.
is that using some specialized stuff like combos, msob/cws or pirate cutlass?
I could off. I had all the fancy toys to work with in t6 and 7 including 3 gotf, which was super uncommon back then.

No I used the riwod for the most part + whatever other block I needed. I did use trident for mornrise but a lot of it was because I could equip 3 gotf scrolls + cobalts or 5 freezing scrolls. There are better options for T8 though than other T6 crap I have in my armory. The cts can definitely take down saggi at T8 and is overall really good for T8 but I won’t recommend that as a realistic option.
Thank you everyone for the help! And thanks for the gift - I will definitely put that to good use! And thank you for the offer - I'm sure I'll want some T9 weapons when I get there. :)
Still can't beat Mornrise Serpent or The Gate Keeper.
Scrolls: Sancturia Exodin Shriek of Despair x2 Cold Blast (It took so long to defeat Mama Mush 75 times...it was not fun.) Cobalt Eternal x5 (Idk if this is too many, but I was kinda desperate with MM.) Divine Denizhen Assassin Fatal Fire x2 Screams from the Pit
I've also upped Anozira's AP to 98 to accommodate the scroll increase.
I thought I could just match up icons - for example, Mama Mush was obliterating me with her bear claws, which do 15 physical and 15 ice icons. So I got a weapon that blocked 15 physical icons and a scroll which blocked 15 ice icons. And I was still getting obliterated. So clearly there is some special battle math here that I don't understand, because it's not 1:1.
That being said, I feel like I'm missing some information to understanding how to match up the right weapons with the right opponents in a way that I can beat the extremely hard ones.
you are very welcome!
No such thing as too many Cobalt Eternals and Sanctuaria Exodins. Keep your eyes peeled for cheap reagents from now until you've made at least ten of each. You'll need them later to defeat Challengers that disable healing.
The icons are multiplied by a factor depending on your or your opponent's stats. If they are really strong, then it's more important to overheal, block all of an icon, or freeze instead of blocking exactly. Also if they have a Speed much faster than your pet's, blocking won't matter much because they'll be getting a lot of critical hits.
's guide says more attackier and defensier, but speedishness stays the same.
I would argue thats a pretty controversial statement to make. Cobalts and sancts are kinda mediocre in my mind. I have 20 of each and I never use them.
Against the healing disable challengers I usually go for max offensive power on them. Usually using Combo legends and Morosbane scrolls.
Especially when Sanct's are super expensive to make.

That's a good point, my battle style is really different from most users here.
it's possible that I don't think of them as all that expensive, the ingredients at Sacred Shrine I just hovered and it's around 8MsP. To me, this is on par with Cobalts, which are also not very expensive sounding to me.
My pets tend to die sooner if I try to hit hard, and they run out of AP before the challenger is defeated if I use Morosbanes. Divine Denizhen is pretty good as a desperate backup multiuse scroll for the lower tier no-heal, but for stronger opponents I have needed more block, and don't necessarily have the full-blockers i need.
Sanctuaria Exodins and Cobalt Eternals take half as much AP and while surviving the extra turn doesn't necessarily help me deal out more damage for any particular turn, my pets are fast enough to get crits and the extra turns make this more likely. Crits overwhelm their defenses, and this makes up for it, to me.
I never seem to use my cobalts and sancts. I always thought it was me. I've tried a couple of times, but they never really seem to give me an edge. Granted, I had only one of each before, just got myself a second one for both. Maybe I should give them another try when battling with my smaller pets.
didn't realize they were that cheap now, your right, they cost about 7-8mil to make right now.
I might just be biased because old cobalts/sancts were so good, and nerfed c/s got hit HARD.
I still have been super underwhelmed whenever I break out my Cobalts/sancts though.
