This topic explains why the forums are practically dead - Lets Talk Forums Again. One of the reasons revealed is that some people get very anxious posting in public forums. The most active threads are ones like "What Did You Get From ...." but many can only be posted in once a day. The only other option if there's nothing suitable to post in is waiting for special events where we can kiss/dance with/ give flowers to/ToT the user above.
I know new people aren't supposed to get in the Blue Building in their first week but these are my thoughts on the matter -
The 100 post requirement is out of touch with the way the forums are now.
I've come across a number of new people who have posted in a topic only to be told off for doing so because it's over 3 months old. The topic is then locked. This must be awful for people who are anxious about posting anything. Why should people who are anxious about posting be forced to just to access one part of the site?
If staff don't want to scrap the posing requirement at least make it something reasonable like 25.
I am for this. I am lurker by nature, so that was my most difficult aspect to achieve
I know there was a user who posted on just about every thread just to get their count and stating that, as much. As a couple of those topics were ones I was involved with, it was very annoying to find that the new post added nothing to the discussion.
Main Cosplays: Harley Quinn, Captain Marvel, Elsa, Mera, & American Dream
Yes.
"Oh hey look someone posted on this topic I subscribe too.....well, at least they're honest about their intentions despite not contributing."
I believe that if the posting thing is scrapped (but maybe not if it is just reduced) it should be replaced with something else. here's some alternatives that don't require socialising: -get a decent bathhouse streak (somwhere between 1 and 3 months seems reasonable) -have done at least a certain amount of quests (250 ish maybe more) -have fought a number of fights in the battle coloseum (not unreasonable as BB already requires some pet training) -have put at least a certain ammount of sp in your bank ,if that is trackable (5 mil or something) -have spent a certain ammount of csc (should not be impossible with morty cards and bathhouse) -have spent a certain ammount at the milionaire center
I know what LadyMeridius means. It could be annoying but the real issue is someone being desperate enough to do that. When I've finished posting in the games forums I can spend a long time struggling to find a thread I can say something in.
Where forum points/the Forum Shop are concerned players have choices (1) Wait for the events I mentioned in my opening post because the items are always in the shop (2) Buy forum/raffle tickets from other players and turn them in for points (3) Buy the items from other players (4) Go without the items because it's not essential to have any of them.
The Blue Building is different because someone might have completed all the other requirements and be stuck because it's taking forever to get 100 posts.
I know it's supposed to encourage activity, but I've seen so many newbies stop posting once they hit 100 posts. I've seen people spam messages along the lines of "for the Blue Building requirement" on various topics, new and necro'd. I've seen people just spam "support" or "good idea" or "okay" on the forums, contributing absolutely nothing to the conversation and raising up topics from years and years ago.
It's not even about anxiety at this point. Considering how dead the forums are, that requirement is silly and outdated. It wasn't a problem 5-6 years ago, when the site was buzzing. Good luck finding 100 relevant, active, interesting topics now without going for the "what did you get from X?" threads.
Add things that promote game activity instead of promoting spamming. To quote myself from the forum point topic in site feedback where the same thing was brought up:
I agree with getting rid of it, or at least reducing it. Post on 1 thread? Post on 10 threads? Something small that a newbie might have already accomplished by the time they find the BB. Such as in introductions or asking questions.
But yeah I've seen so much spam from people "posting to get 100 for the BB" on threads that have nothing to do with it, and most of the time necro-ing to do it. Spamming the same thing across multiple threads that have nothing to do with their topics is spam, it's against the rules, but I never see anything really done about that in particular, only if it's necro then they're immediately told off and the thread locked. Man, the BB is just sounding like more and more a negative experience on a site with a dead forums...
Not everyone comes daily, so I don't think this is a good idea. :( 90 days of coming on Subeta is thrice as strict as what you need for the big Melody's Cottage prize, and it's usually more worthwhile than the BB
Better
We already have a goal concerning training, as you've pointed out.
It's okay, not my favorite.
No. No. No NO. Again, not everyone logs in daily, so bathhouse should absolutely not be considered, and Morty Cards are far too reliant on RNG to be considered viable. Really, the only method to successfully get this is spend real money so this might be the only suggestion that is legitimately worse than post 100 times.
Usually, this just brings a bunch of unwanted cheap MC in the economy, so meh.
All my support for changing the Trading Cards requirement to any other collection. After years on Subeta I don't have access to BB because I refuse to collect trading cards, they're frankly the most boring collection (couple images, differing just by the color? come on....). Don't care the first 25 would be super easy and cheap to get.
Does that mean win fights or just fight battles even if a pet doesn't win? It's very difficult trying to win any battles with low level pets and beginner weapons.
I know what you mean about collecting Trading Cards because I resented having to do it.
If we've got to have a collection why not a certain amount of minions in the Minion Zoo? The zoo is listed as a collection on the Games Page. People could also remove them and put them in treasure chests or galleries or even sell them once they've got in the BB.
I think winning is good as the requirements for the BB should at least require some effort, IMO it would be fine if they fight Buttwing Bomber ten times.
Yes the bathhouse is probably a bit of a stretch, honestly I have not made the melody regular achievement at least half the time.
Maybe have a RSing requirement? Just buy X items from the regular shops? It's one of those things that easy enough to just passively get while questing.
Either way, I wouldn't mind if that step was gone. It does only really encourage people to spam when there isn't a holiday with 10 claim threads handy.
Buttwing Bomber is very difficult for low level pets. I've got a Tier 1 pet that can't defeat it even with a Phoenix Quill, Rainbow Vortex and Replica Minataur Knocker and other bits and pieces It's also got over the 100 combined stats which are required for the Blue Building. Adding a BB requirement which needs more than the 100 combined stats requirement wouldn't be fair especially as winning includes investing in weapons and scrolls.
PS: How about adding get a pet a job and have it achieve one or two promotions?
Oh I like that! Jobs by themselves require you to train and read to your pets if you want promotions, so that would work well for a requirement that encourages playing the site vs. spamming the forums.
I don't entirely like the idea of including the minion zoo because the minions can be removed and sold after you get into the BB. It's not a true "collection" in Subeta's mechanics - collections take the collectable items out of the system, so that's a bit of a loophole.
Maybe replace the treasure map with any map? That would increase demand for uncharted map pieces a little bit as well. The current price for a whole uncharted land map is around 150k, going by user shop prices.
It's not all that different to having a certain number of items in the wardrobe because clothing items can be removed. I see your point about collections, though.
Some Treasure Map pieces are also very expensive so I like this idea.
Another possibility - have a pet with a certain number of Treasure Chest slots. It wouldn't matter if they weren't all filled.
Love the pet job option - there are many jobs that require quite low stats even for a promotion or two. The minimum quests could also be a good choice to replace the forum requirement.
Agree with the trade card collection be changed to any permanent collection (ie beanbag or plushies or trading cards). I think originally the trading card collection/system was intended to be a bigger part of the site, but it never went anywhere. For me its the single collection I have "mastered" because there are so few cards and haven't added any in years. So it was easier to complete than any other one.
Also agree that the treasure map requirement should be either map.
This list of requirements was from the genesis of the site and it certainly reflects that and has failed to keep up with changes.
Make an item, or 2-5 (genetech or alchove or baking or even a PC). Visit the rift x number of times - or even do all three things once (money, item, pet).

Certain requirements also don't have to be nixed entirely--it could be a list of things to do around the site, and you just have to accomplish a certain number of them. For example, give users 20 options, and they only have to do 15 or 10 to get inside. That way, people who have no interest in collections can ignore those tasks, and people who have anxiety about forum posting can ignore any post requirements.
I honestly wouldn't mind if the requirements were a little more demanding--like having a pet with the highest position for their job, have a level 150 pet, etc. More demanding requirements asks for more site engagement over a longer term, rather than just quickly buying a certain number of trading cards and sticking them in the collection, or refreshing until the page generates a password you never have to remember.
Maybe there could be a Blue Building competitor that has cooler/different stuff in it, lol. Like the Orange Organization which is less "boring corporate cogs" and more "fanatic corporate cult."
I think Genetech would be best because you can make Bacon and Egg Breakfasts. Don't really like this idea, though, because it means going to SubetaLodge and then exploring the list of items that can be made. Many of them require items which are now retired so hideously expensive or no longer available. (Maybe there's a Genetech guide in the Subeta forum but I haven't a clue where it is.)
Baking - I tried it once some years ago when we had to do activities for raffle tickets. It requires horrendous amounts of ingredients.
Making a PC - If you mean the one from years ago where do we get the cases from now that Geek quests have gone?
The Alchove - requires a Zombie skin and you can only get one during Survival. This would be a pain for someone who joined Subeta in March.
Anyway, back to Genetech. Maybe one of the forums could have a Blue Building help guide which includes a list of combinations which are cheap to make.
I think this is a great idea.
I don't think the tasks should be particularly demanding. The Blue Building was a big thing when the site started and there wasn't much to do here. There's now a lot of things for new people to do so they shouldn't feel overwhelmed by it all.
I love this idea.
I'd forgotten the cases weren't given out anymore. Currently they are almost all less than 10K in user shops, but if it was made a thing and no way to get them, I'm sure the prices would increase.
There is an old genetech thread that is no longer kept updated, and never had anything but the most recent items. Though I think, if there was a reason for it, would be easy enough to maintain a thread with cheap/cheaper genetech items. (Also introducing new user to SubetaLodge isn't a bad thing - but then I'm biased.)
For baking, there's the baking starter kit which can be bought for 1M sp, or gotten from the bathhouse, so while its not "easy" its not that hard either. Its guaranteed to have ingredients for one of the low level items. Its also less than 300K in user shops.
Agreed that the alchove is easy or hard depending on when you join, but that's why I included other "making items" options.
Interesting. I do like the idea of a bigger list, but only needing to accomplish a certain percentage. More options are nearly always better. While the forums have changed a lot since the days I needed to get into the BB, for me the forum posts was easy - I think I had them, or nearly had them before I even discovered the BB. So it really depends a lot on personal behaviour.

- If Marcus's idea was adopted one of the requirements could be something like - Make 3 Genetech items (different or the same) or Bake 3 things at Fantine's Bakery or Make 3 Alchemy items in the Alcove.
Some new users might discover they enjoy baking and carry on doing it. Others who try it once and hate it can just go "Aaarrrggghhhh!!!! Never again."
