So we can't get forum points anymore if we post in our forum groups.

I don't like having to chat in regular forums because they are really boring until a forum box event happens or holidays. I don't know about all the other users on here, but I do know that a few users aren't comfortable with the idea of posting on regular forums due to anxiety, fear, and genuine lack of interest in the regular forum topics offered. Forum groups were our saving grace to have fun and earn points without pressure.

Why the sudden change on forum points and no announcement about said change? Seems awfully inconsiderate at the very least. :/

Oh yeah, whole threads about how to improve forums and make it friendlier for people to post and yet we're getting this lame attempt instead. Screw FP then, I'll just buy them.

Was this announced somewhere? That's strange....It's still chatting, I hope it was just an accidental oversight.

We can be like the newbies who spam 'Posting For the Blue Building Requirement!' 100 times in the main forum instead, but change it to 'Posting for FPs.

that's madly annoying

this change doesn't affect me very much (i'm in lots and lots of forum groups but don't post in many group forums), but i'm sure there's many people who prefer chatting with friends in a more closed setting and it's a bummer they're being penalized this way.

afaik it's an unannounced change. i've heard through the grapevine (from multiple people) that forum points are now only given out for posts in the main forums.

I agree, this is awful. It's already incredibly difficult to earn points even if you're a part of a group like Posting Frenzy. I second the Posting for FPs on the regular forums route, we should all band together and do it all at once, boycott style. Can't punish everyone for spam, can they?

We're still waiting for something to be done about the necro thing. :(

I don't belong to a forum group but I can understand why people who do are going to be annoyed by the change.

yeah this?? is not a good change i think q v q

the only way i can support something like this is if the forums improve (lift necro rule, merge useless sub-forums, etc.) and get more active, but as they are i think people have good reasons to stick to forum groups and shouldn't be punished for it

I dunno, I think it's fair that they removed them.

You could super easily farm forum points just by making a private group and spamming your own forums ad nauseam for forum points.

What I would like is for forum points to be brought back, but only for groups that have 10+ members. Though even with that, it's not exactly hard to tell a handful of friends on discord what the group is gonna be used for, give everyone admin status and tell them to go wild with point farming & delete their own posts after to hide the evidence.

Forums are archaic, but sure, yeah, let's punish people for posting in little nooks throughout the site.

aaaa i didn't even think about farming tbh but that's a really good point o:

but also surely isn't there a better way to handle this? like idk maybe they could have just set a limit like 'only 1 point per forum group per day' or something

Oh, good idea! That, and a member requirement could be good ways of dealing with forum point farming!

A limited number of forum points per day from a private group, that counts across all groups (so no making 50 private groups & forums and posting once on them for 50 points). And you only unlock that if your group has 5 or 10+ members. It could do with some more balancing but that might be enough to put a damper on anyone farming. When you can earn more forum points than that just by posting on the "what did you get from -insert game/site feature here-?" topics, there wouldn't be much point to aggressively farming your own private groups for forum points/forum boxes.

[edit] You got a forum point while making a post! Check out the shop here!

People would be forced to use the main forums to earn points. I find It can be soul destroying if there's nothing interesting in Feedback or Suggestions. What did you get from various games? What are you listening to? Yawn!!!!

If staff want us to use the forums they should tell us what we're supposed to talk about.

<p>If staff want us to use the forums they should tell us what we&;re supposed to talk about.

Here's the thing: people will still chat about things in their private forum groups. People will stay in safe places where they're more comfortable talking with likeminded individuals without someone else crashing in with their two cents that nobody asked for. Unlike the main forums, you can moderate your own group forums and be very picky about who you allow to join. I can see activity in the main forums increasing a little thanks to this change, but mostly in topics that don't really involve people actually discussing things and having conversations.

So if it was done to curb forum point farming: good! If it was done to try and push participation on the main forums: yeah... I have a feeling that's not going to work out as planned without other changes to follow it.

I’m curious about the reasoning behind this. Is it because of specific forum groups or types/uses of forum groups? Is it because of those forum groups that expressly seek to gain forum points? I’d really like to know, and for staff to tell us what exactly we shouldn’t be doing on the forums as a userbase.

I think there’s a distinction between spamming/farming and playing forum games that do require a little socialization and reading, but that’s just my two cents. (The latter being a harmless way to have fun imo.)

I agree with everything you’ve posted here so far. You’ve brought up very relevant points.

I feel like people could just go and spam forever in forum groups, so yeah, if it's to prevent that kind of farming, I'm behind it 100%. I really feel like it is to curb point deflation, and it's a nice change. Of course, some people are gonna be disappointed...but I'm not, really!

Like, the event forums are bad, but this is like...having a event forum during all year.

They did what now?? what the heck

I don't really use forum groups, so I don't know what type of threads people participate in, but I would think that "spam for forum point" threads (if those are a thing, I genuinely don't know) fall under spam rules and shouldn't be allowed. It's the sort of thing people were really upset about with forum boxes- people farming currency.

HOWEVER removing the chance to get forum tickets in forum groups ENTIRELY sounds super duper lame for people with real chatting threads. Why should some friends having their own discussion be at a disadvantage?? Especially considering how quickly a random person can derail an entire public thread, resulting in it being locked. I just don't get it, idk. Forums are a mess and it feels kinda mean to take rewards away from small, controlled group discussions for ??? reason.

If this is another attempt to get people to have meaningful interaction on the main forums....it's not gonna work lol. Subeta is not doing anything to make the main forums more appealing. I don't know what they CAN do, but taking alternatives away is never going to make everyone flock to the main forums. Negative reinforcement only works when the thing being removed results in something good.

I kinda understand the reasoning behind this. Some people, like me, have a forum group of 1 for our own nefarious purposes. I'm actually really enjoying the simple pleasures, like being able to post directly after myself. But I'm doing it for organizational purposes, not to get forum points, and I think I'd feel a little weird about getting a forum point from it.

But if there could be some sort of restrictions put in place like mentions, then this would make sense. Considering how few people are on Subeta these days, the groups wouldn't have to be big (I'm thinking 5 is probably a good number), but if they want to have their own place to chat, I don't see why they can't get forum points.

[Edit]Does mentioning forum points act like a lightning rod to attract forum points? Cuz I just got one from this post. XD

I mean, Frenzy's forum group was created specifically so that the main forums wouldn't get flooded with spam posts/threads for people trying to get FP, iirc. Because idk about you guys but man are spam threads boring/take up space. And the Necro rule still needs to be fixed etc etc. ( someone made a topic)

Edit: I don't mind a farming cap or anything like that, but it is already super difficult for me to get FP. Also, I think maybe doing a 1 FP from the Bath House could be fun (idk if there's support for that, but it already can occasionally give you 1 referral point at times so I don't see why not 1 FP, since it hands out a lot of other currencies already). So maybe, yeah, a cap is fine but Forum Groups, especially for those who do have anxiety about posting on the main forums or less interest in it, I'd like it to come back

Oh ok, I thought it did, but I wasn't 100% sure! Thanks c:

So at least the Bathhouse can give you some to add on to your collection, but like for me it's really hard to even get into double digits for the Forum Shop

That or I'm just unlucky xD
