I know it is such an odd topic but I am just curious if there is anyone else out there who has a particular food (or anything really) that just makes you cringe or gag because you just find it absolutely disgusting for your own personal reasons?
For me? It's Ketchup... ugh. (Yes not technically a food but it still stands.)
I can't stand the sight of it... I really do cringe hard when I see it, be it in the bottle or on a plate.... or on food. The smell... oh damn the smell it makes me gag to the point I could get sick if provoked. I can't even wash dishes until every last speck is rinsed off if someone has had some with their meal.
I have been like this since I was uh 11 maybe? Hm it's one of the few things that makes me feel unwell. I know I sound like a dramatic person, but it really is that bad. :( Does anyone else have anything to share on the matter?
Feel free to mock me for mine, I know I have it coming. ^^;;
Anything with like, fingernails bending or breaking. like in horror movies or even if it just casually happens to anyone i'm around if they have long nails and accidentally bend them backwards it gives me the shivers. i cringe REAL HARD. honestly just thinking about it and typing this up makes me cringe.
Does that count? I can't think of anything else tbh.
besides like the metaphorical second hand embarrassment type of cringe.
Yeah I think it counts for sure. I shudder when I hear friends mention broken nails... just... nope, owh!
Other people brushing their teeth. Like I don't know what it is, I can brush my own just fine and such, but I had to tell my roommate to shut the bathroom door and not do the thing some people do where they walk out to do something else while they're brushing their teeth. If it happens on television or something I have to mute it and look away because the sight and sound of someone else brushing their teeth makes me want to gag so hard. Flossing isn't so bad, but people swishing and/or gargling mouthwash and spitting it out does the same thing to me. It's more the sounds of it than anything, something about it just so....unsettling, and my brain doesn't like it.
As far as food goes I've always been really thankful I don't have a lot in that region, save for raw chicken. Just chicken. I can handle raw beef, turkey, fish, everything but chicken. Something about the consistency of the raw flesh will make me almost physically sick if I have to touch/handle it. I love eating chicken, but I will pick it up with tongs and if fat has to be cut off before they're cooked or if it has to be cut into pieces someone else will have to do it because that takes the dexterity of actually touching it which I just cannot do >.<
Brussels sprouts. Ugh! The smell alone can make me leave a restaurant if someone orders them near me. Quinoa is pretty grotesque looking as well, I avoid it.
Mayonnaise - it's just so incredibly nasty and I don't know how anyone can tolerate it.
Kissing/kissy noises - if this is in a movie or something I literally have to cover my ears and go "LALALALALA" until it's over.
Needles piercing skin - I'd rather see blood and guts flying around the room than a simple, clean injection. I've tried to be tough and watch, which resulted in me passing out and falling off the table after getting some shots.
The feeling of spiderwebs on my skin - especially stuck between my fingers or in my arm hair or on my face. I like spiders but I just can't get over my web-phobia.

Seconding the mentions of chewing/smacking lips and kissing noises. Both make me so irrationally angry, I have to leave.

Anything Tik Tok lol.
But seriously:
People who chew on cloth. Just I can't handle the IDEA of it but seeing someone chew on anything cloth like (wool, t shirts, etc) I can imagine that god awful feeling and sound.
Certain wounds Crime scene photos, morgue prep videos, etc I've noticed it tends to be more vein related. Prepping a turkey. Alright. Find one of those white vein things in it? Literally sickening. Or when people pull on their veins. Like wTf DuDe.
Grinding teeth to pulp Like that one scene from AHS: Hotel I grind and clench my teeth but dear god...
If sensory overload is present then a looooooooooot of things make me cringe and also angry but that's a go figure.
Wine and beer. Both taste horrible to me, like someone drank them already. I prefer harder proofs which if I think about it mix far better. Whenever I go with my friends I tend to drink much more than they do, even though I had less in volume.
I suspect a side effect from my meds.
Kissing too, disgusting human thing. I've been teaching myself not to.
Bone fragments in prepared meat, i.e. baracoa. It triggers vomiting.
And slaughtering, my first attempt was a miserable failure. I just sharpen knives and hold them down.
And the idea that someone likes me...that way. I mean human stupidity is infinite, but this surpasses it.
Touching drink cans. It makes me feel like I need to IMMEDIATELY wash my hands.
Also, touching newspaper is fairly unpleasant for me.
i cringe when i hear kissing noises. i only stand it if i make them, towards pets. o.o just towards pets/animals.
i gag at garlic smell, especially crushed garlic or its smell in foods. if it sits nicely wherever its put for selling purposes, i'm ok(ish) .. except i'm not buying it. onion is almost on the same level, except i can actually eat it ... when cooked so well i can't feel its fresh taste. LOL
i actually really like mayonnaise, but my stomach rebels against me when i eat too much of it. i like its creamy consistency.
I really have to update my blog ObscureJourney and my review site BeingObscure. French speakers can read my reviews here.
I cant stand yogurt. I like the taste of it but the consistency makes me want to gag.
Foodwise, any type of seafood makes me shudder.
I also can't stand watching or listening to people brush their teeth and I absolutely hate it when I'm at work and using a public restroom and I see somebody leave without washing their hands. I also get super upset when people touch my stuff because I don't know if they've washed their hands or not or sneezed/coughed or anything and then they offer me food or borrow my pens and stuff. I've been like this since I was little but it's gotten a lot worse within the last year.

I cant stand the smell of raw meat but i own three cats, go figure. What really makes me cringe is the texture of sponge, i either want to rip it into tiny pieces or throw it cause its made me shudder hahaha
Anything involving chalk texture in food or medication: Gaviscon, Tums, some brand of candies ... Toothpaste will always make me shudder because of above reason. Plus, if I grind my teeth, it has that sandpaper feeling and oh lord do I hate it!Anything involving peas/chickpeas/beans or just straight up mushy texture will make me gag. Greasy hands or anything oily will make me shudder. I dislike touching it and will walk away quickly or scrub my hands with soap til I feel satisfied. People that try to tickle me or brush past me will trigger a shuddering of disgusting. I simply don't like it haha.
There is probably more but I can't think of anything else!
Scratching metal & car screeching! Seriously the worse haha!
The sound of people chewing! It doesn't matter if they are sitting right next to me, across the room, or if it is on a TV show. The sound makes me cringe and want to get up and leave until they are finished.
I had awful stomach issues when I was little kid through my early teens, including acid reflux, sour stomach, and chronic constipation. Sexy I know. Anyway because of that I had to take milk of magnesia a lot and am kind of scarred from it.
Anything with that thick consistency and chalky texture immediately makes me gag. My dad usually got me either the vanilla or the mint flavor which were so sickeningly sweet in an artificial flavor way. UGH I am gagging just thinking about it. 😖
Chalk on a chalk board. People chewing with their mouths wide open
