It has been a long time since we had new (aka already established) challengers added into the BQ pool. I think it would be a nice change of pace to get some more added if it is even possible. Specially for the Impossible pool.

I'm gonna oppose this one, like I always do. No Support.

BQs aren't supposed to be a luxury gym like NPC Jim's, they're supposed to be work. Your pet doesn't do what they want to do, they do what NPC Reichsen tells them. So I don't agree on increasing the total number of challengers. You can do your daily cardio downtown or in boyz town, but you will do your daily cardio.

When BQs were initially created they were there to increase participation for smaller pets and to give them something to fight in between Gelatin wars and rare site events because even then the cost of boosters was high. Boosters are a lot more common and NPC Quentin gives out Mage Amulets increasing the need for battlers to branch out into regular questing instead of isolating themselves. High-statted pets are not bereft.

BQs never were intended to make pets who actually can win against an Impossible challenger stronger. So I don't agree that even if more challengers would be added that the emphasis should go to the strongest pets. The stat cap exists for a reason.

I would support it. Why not make better use of the available challengers we already have, and widen the pool?

Besides the first paragraph, I don't understand the counterargument. Also, how is widening the pool related to the stat cap and strong pets? The pool of challengers still have the same difficultly; in fact the impossible tier will get harder because General Error won't show up as often.

Support! It's so boring fighting the same challengers over and over again. I'd love to see a little more variation from day to day.

Looking to buy this!

I don't think is suggesting BQs get slanted to the strongest pets. I think she is merely pointing out that the imp level of challengers currently has the smallest pool. And I fully support either changing the pool participants or widening the pool of possible challengers overall. Battling the same small group of challengers over and over does get tiresome and participation always increases when there is something new.

I live in MN, and whatever you've heard... It's much worse.

Support! I'd love some Event challengers to pop up, like Lady of the Waters and Blaire. It's not like we get their loot or EXP, it just expands our pool so we'd have to strategize a bit more.

I always thought that the BQ pool should be more seasonal, or could have been better themed. I think it ultimately really doesn't change that much, unless you put way more thought into it than I think anyone is willing to.

By leaving it the same at least it is consistent over time, and something game breaking doesn't slip by.

I think they could probably be tweaked by doing something like removing Mechalag from the pool. When you are a low tier, he isn't hard to beat, but if you get 2 mechalags you can increase your time to finish, without actually changing your ability to finish.

:sighs: I remember seeing a similar argument the last time this suggestion was posted (Swap up battle quest challengers! ), and everyone was just as confused / in disagreement. No one is suggesting the BQs be changed in a major way, and I don't understand the argument that they should remain boring, because "supposed to be work."

Adding new challengers will not make the BQs easier. No one wants the rewards to change. Or the format. Or the difficulty. People just want some variety. Adding in new challengers will not make the BQs a "luxury" - it's still 30 quests of "work". It will still be doing whatever Reichesen tells them to do. Just this time, Reichsen has opened his eyes to the last five years on site, and we'll have more than 60 challengers available.

And like said, how does widening the pool relate to the stat cap or strong pets? There will still be the same level and reward breakdown. It just means instead of there only being 4 opponents possible at level 30 of BQs, there could be 38! (In the recent year or two, yes, there have been a few impossible challengers released that are not easily beaten for a T12. So if they're removed, we're looking at a pool of maybe 20 or 25? Or, we just keep everyone in, and make the battle quests not 100% obtainable all the time. Just as staff keeps unbuyables in the pool for normal NPC quests, missing one BQ level isn't going to kill anyone.)

...

A Breakdown: There are 33 possible challengers in the rotation for non 5-win battles. There are an additional 29 battlers in rotation for the 5-win battles. (So 6-9 are non 5-win, and 10 is the 5-win battle.) How many challengers do we have total, do you ask? There are currently 35 Normal, 38 Secret, and 76 Cash Shop opponents. Since the reset, there have been 49 event opponents. That is 198 opponents. Why are we only able to challenge 30% of our post-reset challengers? I don't even know how many event challengers have made appearances pre-reset, but you can bet that percentage is likely to drop a severe amount.

...

So, yeah, I support this suggestion. Let us challenge more than a quarter of the opponents on site. I don't care if it's seasonal, or if they only add a handful to the pool. I've been doing my BQs daily for years, and altering the pool won't make it any less work, but it would make it a little bit more interesting.

said this suggestion made it's way to the admins in Sept, 2017. Since we've had no major updates to the battle coliseum since (only a crappy T12 weapon), I'll assume that these comments are fair game to be revisited.
