Do modifications stack, specifically modifications that give some sort of percentage? I'm specifically asking about the "Critical Strike Tear Crystal", but also as a secondary I'm wondering about the various freezing crystals as well.

Yes they stack, but I'm uncertain exactly how. For example I have a vague recollection that its not purely additive but they regularly change how these things work. On top of that there's a lot of speculation from regular battlers.
Check out [topic not found] and see if you can make sense of it. I read a couple of posts and I'm already even more confused than I was.

no they don't stack by additive properties, no. Even if more than one crystal activates, you will still only get the special effect of one of the crystals activating. Each and every crystal that has a special effect like that that you have chocked into your weapons modification slots is a separate roll-of-the-dice. The way that probability works in that situation is not additive, so if you have four Critical Strike Tears your original odds of activation not-counting-for-speed are less than twenty percent, but greater than five percent. So it is worthwhile to add in more of a crystal if you really need the special effect to happen. A critical strike is a critical strike and will not duplicate unless you also get a critical strike from just being faster than your opponent, in which case it gets x4 if the critical strike tear critical and your speed critical coincide. Otherwise it's always x2.
Your speed advantage/disadvantage gets applied to each roll, so your actual precentage of actuation even for just one crystal can go up or down from the percentage listed for that crystal.
I have an explanation of the math behind the crystal activation rates over here: The Guide to Mod Crystals under 'What do the percentages mean?'
Basically, they do not stack and activate independently of each other, so the odds of activation are slightly less than if they stacked. If you need any further clarification, feel free to ask.
