I come back to Subeta after a hiatus to find that the pets I've had for over a decade are now totally renamed. I couldn't be more angry with this turn of events. The pets I've had SINCE I STARTED 13 YEARS AGO no longer have THE NAMES THEY HAD FOR OVER A DECADE

I understand why the site might have implemented this feature, but I couldn't be more angry. My pets, I put so much into them, and now their names are dashed and numbered.

This is how you lose long time members. Thanks for the memories, I guess.

EDIT: Wow, and Subeta charges 500CSC to change a pet's name, which means Subeta made a whopping $30 off taking my pets' names from me and selling them to other people

You get a free name change for every name that was changed. If the free name change doesn't work, file a ticket. Rename them to something you like.

Names are only able to be changed if you haven't logged in for over a year anyway - why should they be kept for someone who clearly isn't playing?

subeta doesn't "sell" pet names, when a user goes inactive anyone can take their names for free and if you do lose a pet name like this you can change it for free so i'm not sure why you're calling it a cashgrab

besides you playing for over a decade doesn't make you immune from rules, everyone can lose their pet names if they don't log on for a year

like i can def sympathise and i'm sorry this happened, but there is no need to call subeta greedy or claim that your pets' names were stolen when they weren't

I've also been playing for over a decade, and I made sure to log in regardless of hiatus to maintain my account. You know, because before your entire account would have just been wiped in a clearing. This has been in place for many years now and I honestly don't see how any longtime user could be mad about it.

"Your pet name Nevermore was taken due to inactivity, you have been given a free name change here for this pet only!" I have 40 of these notifications. They say 'taken'. That's another way of saying 'stolen'.

I'm so glad that some of you have had the luxury of being sure to check on your game every year to keep them valid, not all of us are so lucky.

And I'm not asking for exemption from the rules, I'm saying I put over a decade of my life into this game and it's very clear now that the makers don't care about player loyalty. I've played longer than any of you, I know that because I've been around since year one.

Should I care as much about your 'sympathy' as you do for how I feel? I don't need anyone's sympathy to exemptions, this thread is about improving the game. Using features that erase a players' work is NOT how you keep players, it's how you lose them. It's how they lose me after all this time.

You got free renames for each of the pet names that got taken. You have all your items, achievements, posts, friends, everything is still intact on your account. Your pets are not deleted, and again, you got a free rename for each inactive pet name that was taken by someone else. If those users go inactive, you can get your petnames back.

Also hi, I'm a user with nearly 14 years here with sporadic hiatuses. The inactive account feature is not new. Unless you've literally been on hiatus for half of your 13 years onsite, you definitely should've known about the inactive account system.

If I remember right the name Nevermore was claimed AGES ago. When was the last time you bothered to even check? I mean jesus dude. If you have FOURTY pet names taken, then you clearly do not actually play this game. Nothing was stolen. You agreed to this by having an account and you never owned anything here anyways, since it's all fake pixels.

If you're spending money on pixels you're paying for an experience. You visit this site for the experience, and if you're possessive about items/names you should have done better with the rules you already knew were in place. This thread is clearly not about improving the game, it's about you throwing a fit and seeing that these people - me especially, who has openly clashed with the owner and took long hiatuses, who has had many many public disagreements with the staff - aren't agreeing with you, so you're gonna quit out of embarrassment. Your work was not erased, you didn't keep it up. You can't blame the staff for you not fulfilling your part of the terms of service.

You also can't say we were privileged or lucky to keep our accounts up, because we worked for it. I'd log in on friend's phones, library computers, a barely working Mac with the case falling apart and if I moved it'd shut off. I'd do anything I could because I cared. If you didn't care enough then, I don't find your anger justified now.

it really isn't. by claiming they were stolen it makes it seem you're trying to call out the people who took them, who did absolutely nothing wrong because yearly clearings are just a part of subeta

If you can't sign in once a year, you're not playing by anyone's standards. If you took a "year off", you should have known your pet names would be clearing. They've been doing this for a long time.

To be perfectly clear, I have no problem with the users who took the names, they didn't do anything wrong. I'm not attacking or blaming them, they had an opportunity and took it. My problem is with Subeta's policies.

I don't have 40 pets to HAVE 40 names taken, it was 6, but I got 40 notifications for it. The last time I bothered to check was when I was able to??? I didn't mark my calendar. I'm quitting because Subeta is clearly going down the cashgrab rabbit hole and I just don't want to play anymore. I might be throwing a fit, but to be fair, all I did was complain about a feature that lessens game quality IMO and all everyone else done is tell me to suck it and/or whatever 'kind' words they have, like how I don't care, and because YOU had time to log in then I should have too.

This community seems as empathetic as its staff. What a shame to leave you all behind.

BTW you can keep telling you how much you don't side with me because Subeta is DEFINITELY NOT ABOUT TEH MONEY or you can go to the DC and get all the stuff I'm giving away

You might have gotten 40 events because the site hiccuped and doubled your events. It happens.

Also fwiw, you do get rewards for being a longtime user and you can get CSC for free. You should have loyalty boxes if you go to your dashboard. And you can also get small bits of CSC for free by regularly visiting the bathhouse. Those pile up quickly. [edit] Also CSC is buyable with sP from user shops. So you don't really have to spend a cent on the site if you can't afford it. -shrug-

As for empathy - I already told you I was sorry in the other topic. I can't really do much else except help you realize that you're overreacting.

To give you an exact time frame, you had my sympathy between 11:08 and 11:26am Subeta time. I know it doesn't matter but I just wanted to clarify that.

I also would kindly suggest you to go outside for a while, drink some tea, or do whatever you do to calm down.

as a fellow players whose been here for over a decade; I’m sorry for you. Losing names like Nevermore would make me cringe so hard, but as others have said, Nevermore has been back in circulation for quite some time now already. When was the last time you logged in?

And as for everyone telling you to suck it up; yes, this whole thing might your opinion and your way of venting, but this is an open thread and people are open to disagree with you.

Again, nothing that you’ve pointed out has factually condemned subeta to being a cash grab. You can buy csc with cash AND sp, and you can regularly make 2-3mil per day only on quests. The current exchange rate is 11mil for 100csc, whichll take you a while but it’s not impossible. Nevermind the csc that the bathhouse also gives out.

Finally ; yes, it would be incredibly unfair to the rest of the player base if pet names and usernames died with players who’ve officially left. Officially left means the site assumes that you don’t have any interest after staying away for a year, and for a good reason.

Your final decision to quit is on you. Your pets are still the same, and why not just rename them? I really don’t understand you, and genuinely don’t get this whole thing you’re doing. But y’know what, if you don’t want your pets, I’d be happy to take them.

So while I had the foresight to entitle the post FURIOUS so people would know to expect a very unhappy poster, I should have been more calm and clear with my exact issue.

Hey, no worries. I absolutely do understand that this is super upsetting, but if you change your mind and decide to play again, drop me a mail and I'd be happy to fill you in on whatever you're curious about. If it's been a while since you've logged in, you probably didn't know about the loyalty boxes, or the bathhouse.

You should see if anyone is interested in your t3 pet, because that's a solid start to a battle pet.

Once upon a time that pet and all it's stats would have been deleted. Personally the time and effort that took seems more valuable than their name, but that's just me. I'd be sad if my pets lost their names too, but I'd figure out something and be glad all the time spent training them wasn't put to waste.

I definitely understand your frustration with losing pet names, but I will say at least they do offer a free rename. Which really isn't much of a consolation prize if you have no intent on sticking around.

I wish I had a suggestion to offer to make this process easier on people who aren't as active/taking breaks but if you decide to stick around there's a ton of available pet name boards with new names you might be interested in?

That said, if you're done with subeta I hate to see people leave, especially out of frustration, but if you're time is over I'd definitely be interested in your pets as well haha. I promise if nothing else the pet would be with me for the long haul (I've been here for almost 13 years with no intent of leaving, ever).
