I have a mountain of Loyalty boxes, before this last stretch I never went very long without playing, but thank you

My battler is already stirring up interest, I'd rather my pets not 'die' on an empty account so i think I will be giving them away

PMing you

You get free csc at the bathhouse every 10 days as long as you remember to sign in and refresh there once a day. It's not a huge amount, but it adds up.

@ Oszs Glad to hear that. I also apologize that I probably sounded rude but, as you've said, it looked like you were saying the users who claimed your names had stolen them and that shocked me a little.

Anyway, wishing you the best for the future whatever you decide to do now. Your Pets are awesome (low IDs are ❤️) and I am sure you will easily find good new homes for them quickly.

@ Oszs Normally I’d say take a few days and see if you cool down. You can sit on those renames for as long as you want. And while you may never get their original names back, you can still give them nice new names and new characters. It’s not what you want to hear, and I’m sorry for that.

Hey guys - as a reminder, this forum is for site feedback.

If you're looking to:

Please also do not ask for other people's items or pets until they have been formally put up for adoption or offered up following the appropriate rules (giveaway rules, adoption rules)

Since this is in feedback rather than say, bragging and complaining forum, I'd just like to add my opinion to the policy in general. This isn't a reply to personally. They feel angry, they have that right and I'm sorry they are taking it so hard.

Discussion of the policy itself, opening up user names and pet names to be used by other users when someone hasn't logged in for a year or more.

  1. I don't, and never have considered it a cash grab. First, a user who wants the name can take an open name for a new pet at no cost and no profit to Subeta. The user who loses the name has the option of a free rename, again no profit to Subeta. Certainly a person can pay for a name change, and can pay for new pet slot, but that will happen whether or not subeta frees up old names to be reused.

  2. Is a year a reasonable time frame to free up inactive names? There might be room for discussion on this idea, and if people are interested it might be worth a topic on its own, not conflated with other issues. Personally I think its a reasonable time frame. Yes, there may be situations where its literally not possible to login for an entire year, but how common is that?

  3. Subeta used to delete inactive accounts...that's a huge issue! The current situation came to be because Subeta listened to its user base and came up with a compromise that works for the majority of people in the majority of situations.

  4. A user may come back after a number of years and be disappointed and decide to never come back. That's unfortunate, but to be blunt would they have really stuck around for any length of time? Or would they have come back for a little while, enjoyed the nostalgia and left again?

Overall, I think its a good policy. Would I be disappointed if I was unable to login for a year and lost names? Of course! But the other side of this equation is people who are right now working hard on pets, creating new pets, currently active on site getting access to names that are perfect for their creations! I don't know the stats, but the vast majority of inactive users stay that way, why shouldn't active users get joy from those old dusty names?

I think it can be solved with a notice by email 1 week before the end of the 1 year of inactivity.. it's a question of customer service and less about "policy" "right/wrong"... and this way Subeta can stay away from feedbacks like this topic..

And even though there's a policy and the user didn't log in for more than a year and it may seem like their "fault", I understand perfectly why they are pissed off... I would be too, no matter what the policy says or how many name changes I'll get..

These days it's getting to the knowledge of many companies, service providers, gaming companies, that a notice is a must, if it's for a payment after a free month, changes to the policies and even if the account is about to be deleted/changed, anything..

that's sad that you lost pet names, been there actually I lost my whole account when they deleted accounts but I didn't log in for a year so they did that. I had to start over and now have more then I did on my previous account just created new pets. :)

I am fairly certain subeta does send out emails for inactivity warnings already, actually?

In regards to the OP -

A year is more than enough time to log back on for the majority of people if they even have a gleam of interest for the site still, though. There are events that can happen that can prevent a person from signing back on, but if someone is in that position in life, there is likely other things that are likely far more important than subeta.

In the past, your entire account would have been deleted. Staff changed it so if someone does decide to come back, they don't have to start entirely over again if they wish to continue playing. The only exception to the name clearing rule, is that deceased user's usernames don't clear. This change was one that was immensely popular. It's also nice in the fact that it allows people to also make memorials for those have passed away, and as someone who has had a friend die, being able to see their profiles and everything is extremely nice. In the past, if I tried to look them up, I'd either see someone new with their user name, or simply find a "user does not exist" page.

I hate to say it, but if someone has been completely inactive for a year+, they aren't really an asset to the site anymore, unlike the people who do play. The site doesn't directly make money off of your pet names, though; they don't charge you to rename it, and other people don't have to pay money to claim one of your pet names, unless they decide to change the name of a pre-existing pet to an open name, which is completely optional.

I have been on subeta for nearly the same amount of time, and I can understand your frustration - but what are the alternatives when you would have previously been deleted? Whatever you decide to do from here on out is your prerogative; you can attempt to give subeta chance, or you can leave again if that has really soured your opinion of subeta, and either option is fine and completely up to you.

I only checked on the pet that was already mentioned on this thread, but the current Nevermore at least is over a year old, meaning OP was gone for over two years at a minimum, which is a long time to not be able to log in at all, even once (or twice, as it were) for some reason. Clearly, it happened at least once, but I think it's probably far from a regular occurrence that the policy would need changing to accomodate it.

That's not to say I haven't abandoned an account on some site and logged in a couple of years later to play it again, or check out what I had on there, or whatever. There was a game I totally forgot even existed until I logged back in a few months ago and started playing on a daily basis again (though I've since fallen out of interest with it again, tbh). Granted, I've never done that with a pet site (not for that length of time) and still tried to log into the same accounts, but the fact that my old accounts still existed was pretty nice.

I do definitely get why someone would be frustrated to lose pet names. I know I would be. But I still think that's an improvement over the fact that inactive accounts used to be deleted previously. And I know how frustrating it is to try and come up with a name for a pet/character when they're all taken, and what it's like to watch an inactive account just for them to log back in before the names become available.

And frankly, if I were going to end up being gone for a year, I'd prefer my pet names to go to someone else in that time for the simple fact that I know what it's like to want a name, and the opinion that if I, personally, was away from a game for a year or longer and came back, I clearly wasn't all that concerned with keeping names I knew I would potentially lose. You get a free name change, which isn't really any consolation if the names you loved and want back are not available, but I do know that I (personally) could still maybe kick up some interest again, just having the rest of my account intact and my pets left as they are, but needing name changes. If I were to want to come back and find my entire account deleted, or even just my battle pets gone (one of them is also my gourmand with over 7500 foods right now. Ouch), I'd probably be gone for good at that point.

So I guess the tl;dr here is I think the policy is fine as-is, and I appreciate that accounts are no longer entirely deleted for inactivity, just from a personal standpoint. I think this has already been well-addressed already, but it makes a lot of sense from the staff's standpoint too, because an active player is always going to be better for the site than an inactive one

If you've been playing for over a decade then you really should have known you'd lose your names if you didn't log in. Sorry, it sucks, but how was subeta to know you'd come back when so many users don't?
