Can I just say that I do not like the fact that there is a second wave of ToT items or of any item during holidays? Because of statistics, it makes the second wave more rare than the first wave, since when the second wave is released (provided there are the same amount of items in each wave), you have a 50/50 chance of getting a new item (IF you even get an item from this year, which is a huge if). So they end up being more rare than the first wave items. Add in that a lot of the items in the current event are both a food and a wearable meaning you need 2 of each for your collection and it's almost impossible to get all the items during the event. There are currently about 5 days left and I am missing so many of the 2nd wave items, most of which I need two of even. And then of course the achievements being released mid event, which leads to inflation of the required items, so you can even realistically buy the items from other users without going almost broke...

So my feedback is, can we just have one wave of items and have the achievements from the start? Because as a collector, I really hate that despite ToTing for several hours a day, I still won't be able to get all the items. And the main reason for that is, IMO, the second wave. Because I have all the first wave items already. And now I keep getting the items I already have, while the new item elude me AND are incredibly expensive to buy.

Tbh I think removing all these dang ear items from the pool would help the chances of getting other items significantly.

Come next year the ear items will be taken out and there will be better odds of getting 2017/2018 items then.

It can be a little frustrating yes but I like that we have two waves, gives us more to look forwards to during an event or holiday.

I really enjoy having 2 waves and there is no doubt about it. That being said, I get you on the whole achievement part. Despite that, it is always expected to have them (especially one single item in 10 different variations!). So it's a bit of a personal call as well.

My major letdown is that wave 2 has scarce items (ahem the scythes!!) and it's rough to get these new items when all you get are things from wave one and these fabulous ears. Also, most items of wave 2 are dual items. I'm just sobbing here bc I need 2 sets of each. That's all.

Some will say: Most of these are devaluated! Yes of course. But not all and that worries me. Tldr: pls let me have my scythes. Sobs. I need 2 sets bc THEY ARE DUAL ITEMS.

Morostide is a long holiday so 2 waves are necessary to keep things fresh, by the end of the 1st week the wave 1 items were already cheap and very common..

By the end of the holiday wave 2 items will have the same faith.

Unlike last year the achievements actually came out earlier and it gives time for the market to be stable for those items.. and tbh they are kinda cheap after 2 days after the release of the achievements.. none of them reached crazy prices at all..

What about as a compromise, the previous years items are only given out during wave one? that way the final week is just this years stuff to help with all the achievements, and people who just genuinely want things.

I feel you on the achievements front. Similar thing happened during Keelhauliday, where a lot of the beanbags were cheapish but I was waiting to get them myself or prices to drop... and then the achievements were released and I was screwed. Because of this, I knew the Morostide achievements were likely coming late-ish, so I didn't sell/frag ANY of the 2017 items in anticipation for the and when they were released I was able to sell some of my doubles and make a little profit. :P

That being said, I feel that two waves are necessary to keep people interested. Next year the 2017 items will be available in the pool (and the damn ears/dwarves won't), so you can get them then. Keeps things a bit rarer and creates longer term goals. Not everything needs to be achieved easily right away.

I'm with you. I understand the need for a second wave of items, but the scarcity really bothers me. Heck, there's still things from Wave 1 I just cannot get at all. I'm also starting to get irritated by the new batch of achievements every holiday which they have been doing this year. Some of these things are already hard to get even as a first wave. Then achievements come and inflate everything to make it worse. I understand devaluing is just as bad, but after a holiday is over, the items go up in price, anyway.

I don't mind the second wave of items coming out as much as I mind that it feels like the majority of them are wearable food items (I didn't actually count them so don't quote me plz). The achievements coming out was expected, but I wish they would put them out a few days after Morostide is over instead, or something.

shrugs

Mostly, I'm just salty that wearable food items are still a thing since I collect both, lol.

having the achievements come out after morostide was done would be worse, i think? prices would spike pretty soon after, and people would be mad that they couldn't trick or treat for hard to get stuff like the reapers.

either way, my big issue is that even if the ratio of old stuff:new stuff going out is good, it feels like i get mostly old stuff, and that makes trick or treating less fun, especially if i'm sticking with with a single person and not using the random house option.

(having a heap of wearable food also bugs me, but since only one of the new achievements involved feeding wears to your pet, i can't really find it in me to be mad about that one.)

Hm, that could be also. I'm not really sure when the "perfect" time for them to come out would be really, because I feel like no matter what, they're always going to cause inflation and make things harder to get. I guess the upside is that there's always next year to get them since old items still go out, as I'm constantly reminded by the ear items x)

Hm, I wonder if it would be possible to kind of weight the items that are coming out, but I could see that also potentially being a problem too, like if someone needed something from wave one that was now expensive due to achievements or something..

At any rate, I don't think there's any one way to fix everyone's issues, per se,. I certainly don't envy those that are in charge of running things here, that's for sure, haha!

Though I do wish we could do away with wearable food, like we did wearable books...cough :P

We're not going to take previous year items out after first wave. Just because some of you got all the items you needed last year, doesn't mean other users have. I understand a lot of you are frustrated with getting what seems to be the same item over and over (you guys aren't getting 10 of the same item though, you're getting a lot of ears sure but they are different items). Like said, by the end of the holiday wave 2 items will likely be cheap because we lower the wait times between ToTing so you have the potential to get so many items. We're going to be lowering the times even earlier this year, to make up for the issues at the start.

We do waves for the longer holidays like Morostide and Masquerade, because it keeps people participating instead of just stopping mid-way through the event.

A lot of the achievements are at least wearable based, so you can lend/trade with users for the pieces. Or put them in wardrobe and then feed them to your pet after if that was your original plan for duel food items :x

I like waves because I like how it makes some items rarer. I don't collect a lot of items, so I enjoy getting the items and trying to sell them, so the achievements and the second wave actually make for items having some value.

Please don't get rid of the two waves. Also, I have a lot of ears and dwarves too but you can frag them or save them for RB? (I can already anticipate users asking for ears to be re-released next year because they're obviously not going to stay at 2k forever.)

I like how it is now. And the ears will be gone next year and we won't be able to get them again. It's a little short sighted to want 2016 items gone in favour of more 2017 items when we will have the chance to get these items again next year, and we will not have the opportunity to collect any more 2016 stuff. I think it might be the urgency people are feeling to get those achievements but even the expensive ones are not that expensive. Plus you can always trade for the new stuff!

I wasn't here for morostide last year so I'm happy about being able to get the ears and dwarves now.

Are you only toting a few people? I've been doing the random one and the few things I'm missing I traded for very easily.

While I agree getting the items, and even doubles of many of them, at the same time when achieves go out and everyone wants everything right now! is frustrating. But then again, like pointed out, one wave of items doesn't hold interest for too long. I'd be done a week ago, if that was the case. And maybe I have stupid luck this event but I only miss less than 10 new items and I'm sure I can easily get that/earn sP for them in the next 5 days, so things aren't really that unobtainable (as they were for pirate event for example).

I really like the waves. This way there's a jump of excitement in the middle of the event rather than just getting bored by this point. The ears can be annoying, but think of all the free crystals you can get! Also, I've been getting a decent amount of 2017/second wave items. Not a ton, but a pretty good amount. By the end of Morostide I'm sure I'll have everything I need. Most of the first wave of 2017 items are under 50k now, some have even reached under 10k. The second wave was only released a couple of days ago; I wouldn't expect to get every single item immediately.

Also remember that there are new users who weren't around last year to get the 2016 items!

Just dump the ears in the fragmentizer and keep ToTing and you'll get everything you want. If not, you can buy the ones you're missing pretty cheap.

I think things are fine the way they are. If we got the ears gone, then everything would be super cheap. Just frag the items and move on. The prices aren't insanely high, I've been able to buy stuff with no problem if I really want the achivement.
