I love that there's two waves. Always have. Keeps things interesting throughout the entire holiday. My issue is with the dual purpose items. There's a LOT of those this year. I collect both wearables and edibles so it's a lot of work trying to get doubles (especially the reaper items). I know there's always next year to collect them and there's also the last day of morostide, but I'm super impatient. Which is my problem, not the staff's.
tl;dr: Morostide is fine the way it is, even for someone as impatient as me.

Agreed. By the end of the first wave I was like, “I have basically everything, nothing I get is interesting anymore”. Having the 2nd wave be more scarce is fine.
As for the whole ear issue, how about just reconfiguring the waves in the 2nd batch? Like having different old items from the previous year(s) in each wave, whilst still keeping all the old ones.
Maybe an unpopular opinion, but I really like that the 2nd wave items are rarer and more valuable. And I like that it takes effort and can cost a lot of sP to collect them all. I think there would be no fun in it if they were all easy to get.
We are still getting a lot of great new items that are cheap and easy to obtain even if you don't ToT. Many items, including some 2nd wave items, are below 50k in user shops or even as low as 2k each.
If every new item were that cheap though, it would take away a lot of the excitement of ToT for me. Now, when I get a rare book or wearable that is worth 600k in user shops, I feel really lucky and excited. Imagine if every item were cheap, there wouldn't be that excitement anymore. And there'd be no fun in completing collections if items were super cheap, I might not even bother with ToT, and buying the items from user shops would just feel like a chore.
I think the excitement of getting new items, and completing collections, is on the flip side of disappointment. You will be disappointed if you get a lot of ears or other cheap items as you ToT, but it's sort of a trade off, it makes actually exciting when you obtain a rarer item, and all the more sweeter and satisfying when you do finish collecting them.

I agree with what said, it is pretty exciting for me when I finally get an item that was still on my WL after multiple junk items.
Also, there are at least some trading threads where you can post what extra items you have and what you're looking for. People are pretty willing to trade their Morostide (or other event) extras, that's how I was able to get some of the more expensive items I still needed during the last few days. You don't even have to exchange sP, just items that you already got for free anyway and everyone can get something they wanted. Win-win.
Everything and said.
Yes, there were an extreme amount of ears in the prize pool this year around. But I think that problem was less with how the ToTing mechanic works, and more with "why oh why, did staff release 48 different ear items, rather than just a handful of transformable ones?!" ToTing has always grabbed from the current and past year prize pool, and up til now, that wasn't a problem. I don't see why that should change.
I think we're ending this Morostide with some of the wave 2 items being a tad more expensive than normal (ahem, reapers), but overall it's okay. Next year, those items will be extremely cheap, and this year they were still obtainable. (Hell, I remember last year ending and quite a lot of the ears being super expensive. People were lending left and right to get the achievements.) Close to the end, I started going on the trading boards and was able to polish off my wishlist without much difficulty at all.
Also personally, I couldn't get enough of the ears. They were annoying at first, but then I had the realization of the fragmentizer- a previously ignored area of the site. For the last few days, I've also been mass-purchasing Morostide items that were priced <2k sp (which is an easy task when you have all the items in a shop and a GA to tell you the lowest priced ones...) I just turned in enough items to get out 2k crystals. So hell yeah I'll take everyone's dwarf/elf ears!

This is the real issue lol - one FIFTH of the entire ToT pool is ears... meaning that before the second wave was released, this was closer to one FOURTH of the pool.
I was able to make a big profit off wave 2 items because I know they'll just be re-released next year, so I might as well sell while prices are high.
The ears were excessive but good for getting a lot of crystals, I suppose.
A lot of items that were scarce last year are plentiful this year (I remember how expensive the elf ears got).

I like the two waves. However, I would definitely appreciate dual (or more) use items be released in the first wave and that single use items be more represented in the second wave.

I personally don't like the second wave. I don't find it any more interesting and I'm likely to ToT through to the end of Morostide either way. I'm missing a decent chunk of second wave items (some of which I'm missing multiples of) and I'm very frustrated. And I know they'll be around next year anyway, but I'll also have new items to worry about next year and it makes it that much harder for me to keep track unless I want to make several separate 2017 Morostide WL categories just to stare at for a year until they come back :/
I do get excited getting an item I'm missing but I don't find it any more extra super special exciting just because that item is a high price in sP at the moment. For me, it's going to be just as exciting to get anything I need regardless of price or rarity.
I would definitely prefer though, if the previous year's items could be removed from the pool when the second wave is added (or at least to have their chances of going out severely reduced). I know this is pretty much just a "me" problem, but the way the separate waves happened to work out this year caused me to need triples of a lot of wave 2 items especially, and I don't even have one copy of several of those items (playing into why it will be so hard for me to keep track for next year)
I still like the idea of having two waves though.
That was me with some of the fans and the reapers. The fans weren't too bad, I think those were wave one items? The reapers though, aren't too fun. I was lucky to get three of the sweet ones, which is sitting a 8mill right now, but it would have been nice have more time with them since I do need three of each. Next year, I guess.
Yeah the fans were wave 1 items, so I think they ended up being a bit more common. And I think those were the only items in wave 1 that were dual use items.
But wave 2 had the reapers, the possessed candies, and the wrapped gumballs which were all foods and clothing. There were some single use items in wave 2 as well, but there were definitely more of the dual use items than in wave 1 (and with less time to get them all too).
If the Wave 2 stuff had actually deflated, I would be quite happy. But it seems it went completely opposite this year - the price spiked after the day of decreased ToTing. I'm pretty disappointed, but I guess next year will be good because I'll still want like everything from this year to round out all the multiple uses I have for things.

Holy crab those scythes have inflated a lot! That was my very first concern when the second wave came out. They have dual use and those things are just sad haha. Hopefully they will be more popular next Morostide so everyone can have a chance at them for a decent price (or free).
next time tot links will expire properly(?), so the first wave probably won't deflate as quickly as this one did... so can we have all or at least most the dual-use items in the first wave, maybe? x; this time it seems like 2/3 of the dual-use wearable foods showed up in the second wave, which is... stressful lmao
Just going to add my two cents: Honestly, the ear overload and lag problems kind of killed Morostide for me this year. As much as I wanted almost all of the new items, getting ear after ear after ear was death, especially for someone who primarily plays on weekends. I think I only got a small handful of the second wave items because I kept getting those damn ears. And so much for the prices coming down on the second wave items. Those scythes.... Yeah, they're going for millions... And I actually want/need two copies of each. So yeah, no, I'm not spending that much.
