The live events feature was removed/turned off during Masquerade, is it ever coming back/being turned back on?

I usually am online all day and generally always have a tab open for Subeta, I used to get a little number of live events or new events/notifications on the actual tab itself. Now it's gone. Ok yes, I could just tab back and refresh to see if something happened... But this was a feature on site and I really enjoyed it. I was just more so curious if this feature will be making its return.

I'm not the only one (am I?) that misses this feature? xD

I wonder what I am doing wrong because for me live events have been gone for several years now on both Firefox and Chrome and on various pc's, laptops and smartphones. I don't even miss them anymore, lol

Yeah there was a little blue announcement banner that it was turned off during Masq (pretty sure anyways). It's weird cause I use Chrome too, and always have been using it.

Just find it's nice for knowing immediately when someone offers on a trade or shoots you a comment when you're off in another tab reading stuff. ;u;

@ Cyroris Around Masquerade I was only online via mobile and there I don't even get banners...or the "New News" thing so I think that's why I missed this announcement. Maybe I also saw it but forgot again...? X'D

I can imagine that the live events are handy but tbh I cannot even remember what it looked like exactly. Was it a red little blob or something like that?

Yesss please come back live events. I'm feeling a little lost without them! They're really handy for keeping in touch etc and use them to keep on top of my groups and subscriptions.

Haha yeah there were performance issues or something if I remember correctly, that's why it was turned off. I mean I could imagine all the notifications about someone dancing with you could really bog things down. xD

I think it was red? :X All I remember was there was a small alert of some sort at least on any Subeta tab that a new event occurred. I don't think it included forum group pings but more just personal pings/ comments/ sMails & subscribed threads n' things.

that makes sense but I agree, now with the Masquerade being over you'd assume they can make a return. I hope staff can give us an answer...and maybe even tell me why I'm live-event-less for years already. X'D

Live events will remain disabled indefinitely until we are better able to investigate and ascertain if they can be fixed. Apr 16, 01:32 EDT

That is from the status site. They want to make sure that nothing is going to break by bringing them back.

I was wondering where they went... I definitely miss them as I do not refresh and/or browse constantly and like to see when I get pings when I'm on different pages. Hopefully, this will be fixed soon ;__;

I'm on the same boat. Haven't gotten them in years lmao.

Personally I don't mind live events being gone, as I've noticed some significant improvements without them. Although I can't imagine the connection, my pets.php page loads better now ever since the live events were disabled.

This is super frustrating. I think it was forgotten about. I made a board in help and questions, but no staff responded there at all.

But if it wasn't causing issues outside of Masquerade, then why can't it be enabled again while you guys look into it?

If it is ever brought back I hope they can give us an option to turn it off. I kinda am glad it isn't back.

Personally, I am so glad to have these gone. :3 I never liked having the red alert up in my tab bar- it was obnoxious, and given it would appear so often, I would get tired of repeatedly coming back to the tab to refresh it off.

It was like an annoying child. Yes, I know I can play Random again. I don't need to play it this instant. Oh, my training ran out a minute later? Calm your tits.

I know my complaints are totally inane and superficial, but I would love to have an option to turn this feature off/on if it's brought back. (I can definitely see the benefit of them, of course. I just love being without the annoying child trapped in my tab bar.)

I've gotten used to not having them for the past month or so, although I didn't mind them too much when they were working.

I do think an option to disable them for people who don't like them would be nice though, if that's something that can be worked in once they are added back.

I would really like the live events back but I understand why some people don't like them. There should definitely be an option to turn them off.
