I&;ll try and give him the best possible care until his time comes.

It reminds of what happened with Basil, your hamster. When I had my dog, as a poor college student, I was giving away literal chunk of money just to make sure that he had all the blood test done, the food, the care and even took extra student hours just because my tutor job was paying very low. I made the difficult decision to rehome him with people that will pay the money he needs. I wasn't thinking for myself: I was thinking for him.

You've been creating a lot of boards recently concerning your animals. I'll offer my advice again: contact your local ASPCA. These people are amazing and very open. I've gotten a lot of help from them when I had my own dog. They showed me obedience classes, nail trimming, proper grooming and they literally saved me from the stress that I had. I even got a free vaccine when he got out of the shelter. Sometimes, we need to get more support. At the end of the day, that's your call.

Sometimes, it's better to let them go. From your numerous posts and threads, it's pretty clear that you can't afford to take care of any kind of pet, and that you shouldn't be keeping them. I'm seconding what said. Contact the closest SPCA. Or a humane society. These poor animals are suffering and continuing to keep them in such living conditions is borderline abusive. I get that you love them, but if you really care about them, you'll find a different solution.

I really can't think of any other way to word this right now, so this is going to be blunt and harsh as hell: consider euthanasia.

Unfortunately, with animals, when health conditions become chronic/terminal and we as their owners cannot afford to give them the best care they need, it is ultimately best to simply end their suffering. If he's okay at the moment (eating, drinking, acting like his usual self), then you still have time to spend with him; if not, then it's best to now say goodbye before his health takes a major turn for the worst. Trust me, there is nothing more distressing and upsetting than watching your pet writhe in utter agony when dying.

My 15 year old cat, Charlie, had to be put down last month due to a failing pancreas. Like your situation, we couldn't afford to run full diagnostics to truly know if it was his pancreas or not. All we could do was research the daylights out of possible diseases that fit his symptoms. We managed to make him feel temporarily better with some antibiotics; unfortunately, the problem could not be resolved and was coming back just a few days after he finished the week's worth of antibiotics.

That, along with the fact that he was no longer eating or drinking on his own, was when we knew it was time to say goodbye. He was still a bit talky and affectionate, but because he wasn't eating/drinking, it was only a matter of time before the situation would turn ugly. We didn't want him to experience that kind of pain; he was already in enough pain.

I'm sorry to hear about your bird.

Since a couple of your pets seem to be in poor health right now, perhaps skip buying CSC this month? It may be smart to save that money in the bank instead, in case you need it for a medical stuff in the future. In general, it sounds like it would be a good idea to try and start saving, if you want to have pets again in the future. As you've learned, pets can have emergency medical problems and it's really stressful to try and pay for them when they pop up suddenly. It can save you a lot of stress to have some money saved up for these emergencies.

I know it's hard to give up luxuries like CSC, but sometimes life is very demanding, and it will save us heartache in the future to make the sacrifices now.

I know you might have to do some scary and hard things right now - like talking to the ASPCA or even putting Buddy down. :( Try to remember that it's not for you- it's for your pets, and your love for them is strong enough to help you do what's best for them.
