Even though we have the Gender Berry, we have an option of choosing during pet creation. Why not have the option of choosing genderless during pet creation? It just seems to make sense to me.

Some pets (such as cadegores, endeavors, and created steamwork pets) start off genderless. I always assumed it was because in a role-play sense, you get those pets as robots. The pets you 'make' though? You're adopting a baby animal and choose it's gender and name.

I can't remember the cut and dry answer but saving up for one from the MC doesn't take very long anyways and it's a good sP sink.

It would make sense if it still referred to sex and not gender - because then one could argue that it represents what sex the pet you're adopting has.

But Subeta even changed the names of everything to say "gender". Which means when you adopt a pet, you're choosing their gender, not sex. So I think genderless should be an option here, for the sake of fairness.

I'm not complaining that the berry costs 10m. I'm willing to pay that if I want to CHANGE the gender.. but it seems unfair to me that: if you know a pet is a boy/girl when you make it, you don't have to pay anything or go through any hassle to get the correct gender on it. But if you know the pet is gonna be genderless, you still have to pick boy or girl and then buy and use the berry...

I like the points makes here. There really wouldn't be a way to alter this with existing pets outside of the berry, but a genderless pet being something one has to pay for does seem a bit unfair nowadays.

I like this. If we have the option of changing a pet after it is created, why not just set it as such when it's made? And, as mentioned, endeavors and cadegores can start out genderless, because it was before we had the gear gender (that steamworks pets get as default).

Although, now that I think about it, isn't/wasn't there some issue with genderless pets and the zapper (back when we had two zappers)? I don't quite remember, but I thought that I'd bring it up as maybe a reason why this has not been implemented before. :d

I support this for all the reasons listed. I'm not complaining about the berry's price, just, it seems fair when it comes to the pet's GENDER, and not like... 'biological sex'.

I understand it's a little upsetting for all of us who paid money for it, me included (I love having genderless pets so I've bought SO MANY BERRIES in my short time here). But ultimately I'd still like to see this changed for the future.

I think the real problem here is that these items should be (re)named "Sex Berry" and "Sexless Berry". 'Cause I've always understood that the icon on pets' profiles refers to their biological sex and not actually to their gender (i.e. "social and cultural differences rather than biological ones"). Any other explanation makes no sense with the current pet creation options. Thus using one of the berries is equivalent to undergoing a physical sex change operation.

Based on that, I don't support changing this aspect of pet creation. If I'm wrong, and the icon is supposed to refer to (social) gender rather than (physical) sex, I do support changing something to make this clearer (and also more inclusive)... but it seems the most straightforward solution would be to remove the sex/gender icon altogether, and let people simply write details of the pet's sex/gender in its profile.

...Which you can already do, if your pet has a gender different to its biological sex - another point in favour of not needing to change the way things currently are.

Seeing as Subeta pets can't breed and it doesn't change the art at all, I don't see why gender/sex for pets is even a 'thing'.

also like, if we wanna touch on subeta pet lore... yeah, they do breed, it literally says in some of the subetapedia articles how they care for young and have litters just because us as users can't breed them ala breeding pet sites doesn't mean in lore they don't reproduce

If you want to show that your pet is a certain gender/sex, then surely you can put it in their profiles? I don't see why it has to be a coded-into-the-site thing when it makes no difference at all to anything.

Besides, male/female/nothing doesn't fit all pets anyway. I mean, if I wanted Doorway's marker to fit their actual genderfluid character I'd have to buy a Gender/Genderless Berry every few days. But that's by the by.

I support this idea BUT BUT BUT in the sake of every pet created inb4 it would only be fair that the cost of the berries is dropped to a reasonable amount? Since this changing would be great for new pets and every pet created inb4 2018 can go pay 10m? Sad.

I've never understood why the cost of these berries is so high, especially since the Gender Berry used to be in the 250k range in user shops.
