I didn't know where else to post this; I'm about to burst at the seams!
So, I'm a transgender man. But I don't really have access to affirmation or hormones. One of the biggest hurdles for me, apart from funds, is the lack of a mentor to help me navigate legal transition.
Last month the law school on my campus hosted a name/gender marker change event, where we'd apply for legal services to help us get our information changed. Not everyone's case gets taken, but I held out hope.
Today I got the call! They're going to take my case, and as soon as I'm back from vacation I get to meet with my lawyer - who is working pro bono!
Hopefully in the next two months I'll legally be myself!
That's excellent news! Congrats! Changing names and gender on paperwork is a giant pain so it's great to have help with it. I'm glad I was able to do mine in one of the easier US states to do it in.
That's wonderful news! c: I've got my everything crossed for you.
