Howdy. I was just wondering if adding trading cards to our collection serves any purpose ?
Also wondering if there is some place i can view each pet with each color it is available in so i can make a decision of what to change my pet into.
Thanks!
Trading Cards are just for fun. You can get an achievement if you have a complete collection :) (But remember: Any card that is put into the collection cannot be removed - same goes for all the other collections as well)
www.subetalodge.org has a big database for items and pet colors as well! For pet colors: In the header chose "pets" -> click "pet colors"
trading cards are just collectibles, like plushies and beanbags, so there's not really any other purpose than that for them. The only thing you really use them for is to get achievements and a sense of accomplishment. :D
You can find a pet directory over at subetalodge, complete with experiments you can get only from the zapper.
[edit] whoop beat me to an answer :'')
Thanks guys ! Are there any pets or colors that are rarer than others ? e/Also, is there a way to rename a pet?
@ Wintery Well, it's a matter of taste (at least for me). The newer colors like vibrant and harvest are probably more rare than others right now, but that also is because there are not yet that many pets with those colors released. For angelic you need to get an Angelic Potion which can be bought from the cash shop (=expensive and "more" rare). Nostalgic and steamwork are a bit more complex to achieve, the sticky in this forum with the FAQs should help you with that ;)
Oh, missed something :D @ Wintery Some pets are special and you are not able to get them the easy way. The most important ones to know are the Bumbus (access to blue building required) and the Bhakoru (participation in an old plot required). Endeavors and Cadogres are limited, but you can buy elixirs for them. Neelas are CS only and the Zentu needs to be adopted from the Shengui Bathhouse (you need an items from "All that Glitters" for adopting).
and Edit 3: There is the option to change names. It costs 500 CSC if I remember correctly.
Most of the 'special pose' colours are a bit rarer (read: expensive) than the recolour ones, since most of them can only be obtained via potion. We got a couple of fairly new recolour colours and the potions are currently really expensive for those (aqua, vibrant), but other than those, you can find specific elixirs for almost any colour x species combos!
Special colours:
Angelic potion - available in the cash shop
Blacklight potion - available in the cash shop
Bloodred potion- restocks in Token Shop, but you can also find bloodred elixirs for at least some of the species.
Darkmatter potion - available in the Millionaire Center, Centropolis
Glacier potion - a genetech combo, mixing a Bucket of Polar Water and Artificial Prism Chalice in Ian's lab.
Glade potion - another special potion, you need an Ornate Floral Pitcher and fill it with water from the Peka Glade, which is only open during certain hours of the day.
Graveyard potion - restocks in Token Shop
Harvest potion - you need to throw a Glade Potion into the great bonfire during the Fireside festival (in November).
Nightmare potion- restocks in Token Shop
Reborn potion - restocks in Token shop
Scribble - the potion is actually called "potion of purity" and can be purchased from the Millionaire Center. The colour was originally an old April's Fools joke.
Spectrum potion - restocks in Token Shop
Storm potion - you can actually get these as random events from Tempest the giant rain bear who occasionally wants to hug you.
Sweetheart potion - available in L'amour parlour.
Available through quests:
Galactic - talk to Itallo in Coda Caves, Atebus, and he will bless your pet with the galactic colour once you've fetched him the crystals he need. This is pretty cheap, especially during those weekends when they want your help to dig for some crystals.
Hydrus - first you need all 9 pieces of the Uncharted Map to gain access to the Omen Islands (currently open for everyone for plot reasons), and then talk to the sea witch Merana who will curse your pet in exchange for spell ingredients.
Nostalgic - talk to Vanya in the Arctic Fields. There's a few steps to his quests, a couple of cheaper ones you need to do in order to make him build you the toy you need, and then you need to bring him an Essence of Melody. We usually get those as achievement prizes each year after visiting the calendar every day in December.
Steamwork - you'll need blueprints and a yunium key, both of which you can buy from Ziara (Full Steam Ahead and Steamworks Menagerie)
I think are the only ways to achieve these colours at the moment, but usually recolours also exist as species elixirs.
[edit] If you click on the dropdown menu on your pet, there should be an option to Change Name. It costs 500 csc to do that.
Thanks everyone !! I took the time to read the sticky and its really helpful. I'll be able to change my pets name with one of the loyalty boxes i got ^^
I believe zentu elixirs are out now, so there's a different option for obtaining them (than the bathhouse)

Many but not all of the potions mentions are available from NPC Lukien, restocking at Apocalyptic Apothecary. They are the most rare, so you might expect to see them there maybe four times a month and you will have to be fast.
At the bottom of each screen here on Subeta there's a tiny link 'About Subeta'. If you go to the pets section it will break down how rare any particular specie of pet is right now. It does not do the same with color.
