Because it does me. I was SO tired when I got into work this morning. Like I-probably-shouldn't-have-been-driving tired. But the bills aren't going to pay themselves so in I went. And had a V8 energy drink, which is made with green tea and veggie/fruit juice so it's healthy enough for you. That was at about 8:00 this morning. Then around 12:30 when I had lunch, I drank a Zevia (non-gmo, clear, healthy-ish soda). Then after lunch, my mom brought me over an iced mocha, which I asked for because I was still super tired. BUT NOW APPARENTLY ALL THE CAFFEINE HAS HIT ME AT ONCE AND I AM SO GODDAMNED HYPER. It could be the fact that I got some really good news I'd been hoping for - Captain Watson is back in the US (Sea Shepherd) and all the charges against him have been deemed UTTER BULLSHIT, which I knew all along but the idiots-in-charge finally figured out. That made me SUPER FUCKING HAPPY so now I am sitting here randomly giggling at my desk, really hoping 4:30 gets here fast so I can go home before someone deems me unfit to human.
I drink so much coffee and soda that caffeine does not affect me at all anymore. I can drink it late at night and fall straight to sleep.
Yes, that's why I heavily limit my intake to maybe one caffeinated drink a week. I've even drastically cut down my chocolate intake to only 2-3 days a week because of the caffeine in it.

It wakes me up, but it helps me focus too. I wonder if I'm actually self-medicating some mild ADD. In any case...it really helps!

I might have when I was younger, but not anymore. I drink caffeine-infused things (minus energy drinks because I'm not a fan of them) pretty often, so I could drink coffee before bed and have no trouble falling asleep, haha! Is the best for me? Probably not, but it doesn't bother me.
I drink green tea twice a day but the amount of caffeine I get from that doesn't really have much effect on me. That's great news about Captain Watson, btw!
I didn't drink anything with caffeine for a long time because it upset my stomach. Now when I work overnight shifts I drink chai tea and that keeps me awake and alert all night long without the jitters or stomach problems :) One time I took an Excedrine on an empty stomach and holy shit I was HYPER. I was giggling like a doofus at work too lol
I seem to have no problem with coffee. I have a final drink before bedtime. It actually relaxes me

I like the taste of a good coffee but I haven't noticed any effect tbh.
I can't live without caffeine, lmao. I'm a zombie if I can't drink thing with it in and the headache that turns up is killer too.

I am actually addicted to Caffeine... I hate coffee, but I am addicted to soda. It's so bad that if I don't have at least one soda a day, I'll get a horrible headache... :( So yes, it does affect me in that way. But it's not like most people that need it in the morning to wake up..doesn't do that for me. I just need it so my head doesn't start freaking pounding.. :(
I actually went through some phases with caffeine (coffee, in particular)! I tried coffee to stay alert once my will power ran out after a couple days no sleep (bad, bad choices, I know). And I climbed up to 5-6 cups of coffee a day, but I think I was chasing a feeling of being alert without needing sleep and other things. It wasn't really helping, but I was hoping it would. I did that for maybe a month? Then I didn't need to be as alert anymore, and I quit altogether. I had a couple days of headaches, which was quite scary, as I'm a migraine-sufferer, but, after that time period, I came out okay! Now, I occasionally drink iced coffee when I have a bit of that tired feeling, but it doesn't really help.
Overall, coffee doesn't do much for me. :c
Ouch! D: Have you tried to quit before?
Never has. For people with ADHD (like I have), it's supposed to have the opposite effect - calming us down, or making us tired.
But it doesn't do ANYTHING for me. Probably because I used to drink shit-tons of caffeinated stuff when I was a teen, or because my mother exposed me to caffeine in utero (apparently, as a fetus, I wanted sweets and coffee all the time).
Oh god yes, I tried with both my pregnancies.. Because caffeine is horrible for the baby. I had to ween myself off. Lol. It literally sounds like I was on a hard drug or something. HAHAHA
But I have tried a couple times to quit. I would go from almost drinking a whole 12 pack in a day to only drinking 1 or 2 a day.
What really helped me, which I'm sure this will sound weird but, I actually switched to drinking milk instead of soda. And it surprisingly worked!! And that's actually were I am right now, I only drink a max of 2 sodas a day and now all I drink is milk. (Has to be whole milk tho) Hahaha! ;) I have recently actually have gone a day here and there without a soda at all now! Pats self on back
Very proud of myself. I have had 2 sodas today tho.. :(
Haha, it sounds very much so like a hard drug!
Wow! A whole 12-pack?! That's quite a lot! Were you okay with that amount of sugar too? And that's really good! Nice! So, I take it the headaches haven't been present on those days without caffeine? And is it your goal to cut it out completely? :o
Yes my body did take a beating when I drank a whole 12 pack a day. I gained a large amount of weight, my skin was horrible, and I had no energy what so ever! (Opposite of what caffeine should do to you)
And yes, I did had a slight headache on the days I've gone without. But they weren't so horrible that I wanted to rip my head off. (I have a history of horrible migraines) From when I was a child to about 21 years old.. I had migraines at least 3-4 times a week. Lets just say to make a SUPER long story short, I had a miserible childhood/teenage years on those days.. Doctors could never figure out why. And then as I got older they lessened and lessened.. No I maybe get 10 migraines a year. But, I don't usually get a migraine from caffeine withdraws, usually it's just one of those annoying headaches and if I drink a soda it will go away. (Sometimes I have to take an excedrin too)
Yes, my goal is to cut out sodas completely. I have lost a great amount of weight recently. I was 176lbs and I am now 125lbs. I have been exercising and eating way healthier than I ever have. I am so proud of myself and I want to maintain 125-130lbs. I think that cutting out all that soda and sugar I was drinking, has played a huge part in my weight loss as well. :) And on another note, I don't know if you have noticed or not...but the cost of soda is now ridiculously expensive!! Hahaha.
I just want to be more healthier for me ya know??? I want my kids to look at me as an example and someone to look up to. Be healthy and to take care of themselves! ;) I am at a late start of doing it for myself but hey, it's never too late right??
Oh man, I can relate with the migraines. I've seen a couple different neurologists concerning mine (since they involve aura), and I ended up finding a fit medication (well, it works most of the time!). I majored in Neuro in college, so I got super scared and paranoid reading about the lesions possibly caused by migraines, but I keep telling myself "no clinical significance". Though, I have a "migraine pack" that I carry around, just in case. I assume you have the same with your Excedrin!
WOW! That's a lot of progress. I'm glad you're doing so much better now! You're definitely setting a good example for your kids. :)
Oh yes, I've seen several neurologists. Haha. I do carry Excedrin around with me EVERYWHERE! I have a bottle in my purse, my jeep, at work, my bedside end table, medicine cabinet, and my parents always have a bottle at their house to be on the safe side when I visit. Haha. It's the only medication that works for me. I do have a prescription for Percocet, I only take those if the Excedrin doesn't work. Those are for the really really bad ones.. that medicine tends to put me to sleep/gives me this floating on the clouds feeling. LMAO! Which is good when I have a super bad migraine because that's all I want to do is sleep.
When I was younger my mom use to give me BC Powder. Have you ever heard of it? It works wonders as well too. All it is, is crushed up Aspirin you mix in water and take it like a shot. Works within 20mins. The only thing I hate about it is, it tastes absolutely disgusting!!! I can't stand it!! Barf
I just can't wait to be 100% healthy and much more fit. I like to get my kids involved in the exercises too! They seem to have a lot of fun with it. (And they tend to love climbing all over me too) Haha ;) My daughter is 4 and my son is 3.
