Unless something was said somewhere other than the news I was led to believe that the options for raffle prizes were as follows:

Quote
On August 31st, we will be drawing usernames for the following prizes:

100 users 300 users will receive a 250 Credit Gift Card
25 users 100 users will receive a random cash item
25 users 100 users will receive a random Pawn Shop Custom Wearable we&;ve removed from the shop.
100 users 300 users will receive a Referral point

So I'm confused as to why I got two notices about having won items from the raffle only to have them be random main shop restockables?

Congratulations, you&;ve won a prize in the raffle! You&;ll find your Chocolate Filled Pie Slice in your inventory. Thanks for playing!
Congratulations, you&;ve won a prize in the raffle! You&;ll find your Wand of Power in your inventory. Thanks for playing!

I know people will say it's stupid to complain about free stuff. However, you had to do a fair amount of things to enter the raffle each day and it wasn't free. When I saw the notice about winning I thought I'd won something worthwhile.

If there are going to be normal item prizes being given out that should be included in the list of possible prizes from the beginning.

[edit] Just saw the news post go up addressing additional prizes. I still stand by the fact that the information should have been made available before prizes started going out.

The information wasn't made available because they just today decided to add more prizes. Winning those prizes doesn't exclude you from winning the original prizes.

I would rather not have gotten my hopes up when I saw the notifications and especially rather gotten the unlucky title rather than the junk items in my inventory.

We just added more prizes so more people would win! :) They were all assigned from the leftover tickets once we drew the main ones (from the best down). Enjoy!

We also added the unlucky title at the last minute, because of the odds it wasn't really "unlucky" to not win anything based on the incredible amount of entires that we got.

I'm sure that the raffle page said more prizes could be added based on participation, and I believe it was stated the first time adidtional prizes were added mid competition as well.

I was surprised to have won anything at all with my two entries or so even though, as a title collector, I would have loved to get the unlucky title instead. Maybe sometime in the future then.

They mentioned they may up the number of prizes if more users entered than they anticipated. They did that halfway through and didn't say anything about adding more prizes or especially different prizes entirely.

You'll have plenty of opportunities to try for it again in the future! We look forward to reusing this title :)

Wow. Entitled much? With my seven entries, I won two cheap items. Am I bummed I didn't get an amazing cash shop item or referral point? Sure. Would I have entered fewer times if I had known they'd give out lower priced things? Psh no. This event was fun. Some of the tasks were annoying, yes, but I still explored the site, and it made me excited to get on first thing in the morning.

This post is kind of crappy because:

 1. These lower priced things were handed out AFTER the rare stuff. So, you wouldn't have gotten anything "good" anyway.
 2. They stated multiple times (and had it on the entry page) that prizes might be altered. Just because they upped the prizes mid way through doesn't mean they couldn't again. It's not like they removed prizes.
 3. The only thing you lose because of this is the unlucky title, which is not event-exclusive.
 4. You're not entitled to a rare item just because you spent sp. That wasn't the point of this event.

I spent a fair penny entering every day; Had to create many scrolls, and bake an annoying about of times. But guess what? EVERYONE DID. Everyone spent the invisible sp currency to enter the contest- you're not unique. This post should be, "hey thanks staff, for upping the prizes even more." Not, "staff, why did you up the prizes with useless crap*?" *Disclaimer, I don't think it's useless crap, as 2500 of those items are to try to help the spell ingredient inflation. Which, need I remind you, was something we specifically asked staff to do.

Stop whining. These types of posts really discourage staff from trying to do anything new in the future.

(Staff- thanks for a great event. No lag, fun variety. Could've used some fixes for the inflated items during the event, but it wasn't so overpriced that it wasn't enjoyable.)

[Edit] Just to clarify- yes, I'm bummed that I wasn't lucky enough to get the Unlucky title. However, as that wasn't even remotely foreshadowed as a prize, it's more of a bonus to entrants. It isn't an event-exclusive title, so I'm actually rather excited to see it come back in the future. Also I think it's quite reasonable to add the non-rares into the prize pool to actually make the unlucky title rarer. As Keith said, most people wouldn't have gotten anything based on the sheer number of tickets.

I didn't win anything, but I received a title. So I feel like I won something in a round-about way. So even though I am a loser, I am a winner.

I am glad to hear that people will have a chance to get the title in future events. :)

Also I would just like to note that if we had not added a lot more prizes, the unlucky title wouldn't even exist (yet). Losing if there'd been 800 winning tickets out of almost 13,000 is hardly unlucky, and would not qualify anyone for that title :P

Just read through the news comments... Perhaps we should be asking the complainers, "would you rather have not received anything at all?"

Out of 3000 users, less than 800 would've gotten anything (given some people could've gotten multiple prizes.) That's a lot of pissed off people feeling "entitled" because of the sp they spent.

Yeah 3k entered around 13k times for only 800 possible prizes. I am glad staff changed things up last minute which they were entitled to do as they gave notice that during the raffle prizes would change

Honestly, and speaking only for myself, yes - I would have rather gotten nothing than the two random items. The events popping up without any real heads up about items like that even being an option made me feel like hey, I won! oh wait, no I didn't...

[edit] Also, staff has said many times in recent contests that they would state what the prizes were up front and not waiver from that. This time they did say they would increase the prizes, but it was never even hinted at that people would end up "winning" junk items. I did enjoy the contest overall, but I wish the way prizes were done was more consistent.

I admit to being a little bit disappointed when most of my prizes were restockable items, but I also got a forum point (which I'm always dying for), and one of the items was on my wishlist. I'd definitely rather have those than nothing at all, so overall I'm very pleased, even if I didn't win any of the "big" prizes.

Going to need that "unlucky" title when it comes back around, though.

@ Karen I guess I just find it really hard to understand that perspective. From my view- they're free items from a raffle with really poor odds. I can sell them, frag them, use them for baking/scrolls (or trash/donate). Free stuff. I wasn't expecting to win anything good at all, so I guess my hopes weren't up about winning. When I got on to see the notifications, my reaction was overall positive- my heart leapt from my chest at the prize notice, and though it wasn't one of the top prizes, it was still really fun to get the notification at all.

:/ There are just so many people complaining about getting one of the cheaper items when, I feel it should be a thank you to staff for trying to make this event a bit more inclusive. Maybe it would've felt better if staff hadn't introduced the unlucky title at the same time, but still- that's an added prize of it's own (and there are quite a few people in the news comments complaining about getting that and not one of the big prizes.)

This s the part that annoys me. A lot. They were certainly cheap items, but they weren't all "junk." This raffle wreaked havoc on spell and baking ingredients. We begged staff to remedy this. Yes, it should've been thought of ahead of time, but this is still good too. The rest of the items can be fragged or sold.

And I'm typically on board with the "let's get angry with staff for not announcing prizes ahead of time", but in this case, they TOLD US that the prizes might/would change. They didn't alter anything they said or remove any prizes. They only upped it. Adding 3k forum or raffle tickets or whatever you consider "good" would've utterly rekt the economy (moreso than with the "junk.") I cannot be mad at staff for adding additional prizes. It made it so I received SOMETHING, rather than NOTHING.

I'm sorry that you got way more excited at a prize notification than you should've, but staff is not at fault.

Only people who would have literally won nothing got "junk". It was an added bonus, which is something we'd mentioned since day one so that if we did add additional prizes we wouldn't mislead anyone. Besides, if it's just junk like you're calling it, I don't really see the problem with it being given out, especially since it didn't interfere with the winners of the initial prizes in any way. Just some more bonus goodies for more people who took the time to enter. The title was a silly bonus for those that, despite all of the extra prizes STILL didn't win. I'm sure it will be much "easier" to win in the future as we can use it with proper contests (something based more on merit over randomness) that have far fewer winners.
