The thing is, a lot of people on this site value titles more than items that are 100k or less, or even 1mil or less. Raffles give the least valuable prize(or nothing) to the most people. In this case, we were all given a participation title, which I was perfectly content with getting because I knew I'd be on the same level as the majority. But when you give the least valuable prizes to the middle tier of people, the raffle seems backwards now. It feels more disappointing to "win" something than not to, which should not be the case.
Agreed. I'm glad there will be chances to get the title in the future, though.
I actually do agree with this. Personally, I think the timing of the release for the unlucky title was off. I prefer titles over items too. And while it might feel like staff "took" the title away from people and instead gave them "junk", it really isn't. More, it's staff gave extra items to people who would've otherwise received nothing, and also introduced a new title that will be a recurring prize.
Staff didn't "take" anything away from us, and I think that's something that a lot of people are forgetting.
The unlucky title, as Keith mentioned, was a very last minute prize. Otherwise, I feel like they would've alerted us (they've been very good about that.) So while the suddenness probably didn't help, I personally like that there's a new thing on the board that I have to try for. (As most titles that I'm missing are either retired or way too expensive for me.)
The title will be one of the easier ones to get once we use it for another contest or two. Like I mentioned, with the proper contests we often have thousands of people who don't win. It may technically be "valuable" now, but that really won't last. If we had made it event specific I'd totally understand being upset. But this is practically a gimme going forward because of the ratio of winners being so vastly different usually.
I love the idea of the Unlucky title, and appreciate the mention that it will be available again in the future so I don't feel like I missed out!
It wouldn't have made sense for everyone to get the unlucky prizes if the random items weren't being given out, because the odds of not having given anything are much lower, so it makes sense for the Unlucky title.
I don't think there is a way to avoid users potentially being excited/nervous for possibly winning the bigger prizes, and trying to avoid excitement/disappointment isn't a reason to not give other prizes, especially as everyone who participated got an event alert anyway for the forumtitle.

Agreed. If they had given items to people the same way but without the unlucky title going out(and therefore the majority receives only the participation title, as was expected in the first place), it'd feel a lot less disappointing.
I'm glad they gave out those 'junk' items ^^
I'm surprised about the extra prizes, but I'm slightly disappointed that I didn't win the prize I wanted: the 250 CSC. It was nice of the staff to add extra prizes and a forum title, don't get me wrong, but none of those prizes appeal to me as much. I'm possibly one of the few users on here that doesn't care about forum titles. ;)

It's still somewhat "event specific" if you're only using it for contests/raffles, though, isn't it? I can get a restockable item any day of the week, but we don't have contests on a very regular schedule yet. Unless it's being used for something permanent or on a more regular schedule, I'd still call it more "limited" and therefore more valuable. But others may not see it that way, so /shrug. I just hope that this feedback is taken into consideration in the future so that users aren't having to sit around waiting for something to come back around and feeling disappointed in the meantime.
When we have contests it's usually hundreds and hundreds of entries where less than a dozen people win. The holidays are coming up, we are in prime contest season. It will be given out in huge quantities.
Do you or anyone else happen to know about how many people actually received the unlucky title this time around? I know it's going to become more common in the future, but I'm just kind of curious to compare it to the number of people who entered and all that.
I had actually typed up a longer and somewhat harsh response to the comments I'm seeing here and in the news post. As well a response to the general attitude I see here often. But it doesn't seem worth it anymore. I've moved on from pissiness to apathy.
I'll just say that I disagree. I think the ingredient prizes are fine. You would have gotten nothing if they hadn't been added. Including the title. You never really lost anything. Seeing as it's going to go out for other contests, and I imagine it'll be pretty easy to throw those contests, you now have something to look forward to. Congratulations. I want the title too. I want more negative titles too. I'd actually prefer if the title remained rare.
I also personally don't care if the staff adds extra prizes to whatever they're doing. It's a moot point for me.
I remotely do not give a shit about any of the prizes but the title. I'm salty I won something because I want the unlucky title too. But I can understand why some people would be either pleased or angry. I kinda felt like those prizes were veeeery rushed and I didn't find the lower prizes to be useful.
But like I said: I NEED TO GET LOST YO.
it's a raffle. raffles are random. if you're mad about spending a lot of money to get a junk item here's an idea: don't spend money next time. there was always a chance of winning nothing. i don't understand why people are so upset about this.
I like the title better than the items I've got, tbh.
I would rather have had the unlucky title over a referral point, or 250 CSC, or the super rare item I got. That was a lot more desirable than a bunch of restockables, tbh
As stated already, I would rather win nothing than win "prizes" worth nothing. I'm mostly annoyed about the title and the lack of forthcoming with the prize options.
I think it's a nice idea to make sure more people get at least a little something for participating, but I think for me, I wish we'd known earlier about the prize additions.
I saw the alert before I saw the news update, thought "holy carp I won something awesome!", then that faded into a stunned disbelief when I saw what I'd actually won. I kinda wasn't prepared for that emotional drop.
I think I'd rather have received no item/alert at all. Raffles are raffles, most of us were going to win nothing anyway. xD
