Not sure if this should be in revamp feedback, but since the lifelike dolls are new items I put it here.

The lifelike dolls have a spiky/fuzzy CI, to show that it's a doll/plush and not something that can produce a real pet. That's cool. The avatar view, in contrast to the CI, has in the past looked very much like its pet counterpart, which has been amazing and fantastic and I appreciated it.

For example:

There are "plushie spikes" visible on the avatar preview, if you look, but they are very small and faint and not easily noticed. The doll looks pretty darn lifelike.

In contrast, the Lifelike Feli Doll:

The pose is adorable, but the spikes are very dark and obvious here, making it look exactly like a large stuffed plushie, or like a Feli that just fell into a cactus.

I dislike the inconsistency and wish the darker spikes weren't so obvious on this line.

If it's supposed to look this much like a big plush, with the stiff spike style, maybe the line should be called "Lifelike Plushie" instead?

I know the reason they are not called plushies is because they are wearable. Honestly though I have to say that I notice the spikes just as much on the others as I do the felis. Maybe they are just more noticeable because of the pose?

That's because they are large stuffed doll/plushies, no matter how lifelike they look! I mean it's the same thing as real life, there are some very lifelike looking dolls (I'm looking at one of my giraffe dolls right now) but it's clearly still a doll.

The reason we don't have plushie in the name of wearable dolls/things like it is because having 'plushie' makes the database think it's a plushie and will try to add it to collections, which is a thing we don't want in the case of these dolls haha.

We've had other wearable dolls that have very obvious stitch marks to show hey, this is a plush nOT AN ACTUAL PERSON YOU'RE HOLDING OR SPECIES. (example: the rag dolls from Morostide)

Maybe, but to me it's immediately different and obvious. The lines are very dark in comparison and the spikes are longer, or maybe that it's just super obvious because they're all over the Feli.

Fair enough on the naming convention, and that's helpful to know, I just think I got used to seeing the relative lack of spikes on the others and the Feli was kind of an unwelcome surprise. I actually did think until the Felis that they was a larger version of the rag dolls or like the poseable dolls people buy and dress up.

i thought the point of the dolls were to show them as stuffed animals? i never ever considered them as something that is supposed to look real. just as there are no real versions of the actual pets these dolls are based off of. for example you won't see a real Anyu in a wearable background, or any other species for that matter. there's no real versions of these dolls. i assume the term 'lifelike' meant life - like in the sense of avatars able to wear them. avatar life. not realistic life. life does not mean realistic.

I wouldn't mind the fuzz reduced in the future. Real life plushies do not have this much fuzz and loose threads, so what is it with the obsession with loose threads around the plushie?

I want to snip all those loose threads. They're just going to get caught on everything and unravel. :(

Same. I don't have an issue with any of the dolls themselves. In the OP, I actually find the fester one of the least lifelike, but I've never seen a bird flop out like a pancake like that. Stuff like that makes it clear to me it's not supposed to be a real fester. The threads themselves are just annoying. :x It's like all the dolls/plushies we buy are second-hand or something.

They are from a carnival. Carnival toys are never high quality.

That's a good point, I feel like I definitely have gotten little stuffed animal things from carnivals that had a lot of loose threads or just looked really obviously low quality.

I think they look alright, they're just "lifelike" anyway not perfect replicas. As it is, not all of the dolls are even completely life size because some of the pets are just too big and wouldn't fit in the HA space.

My problem is that some dolls are in a layer that I don't like.. the Fester for example.. I can't do anything with it when it's on my HA's head.. it would be a dream if we could change the layer/position with a transform option.. but it's too much right now.. maybe after we finish all the pets and colors..

But yeah some dolls look too cheap.. Neela VS Feli.. Neela is definitely the best doll..

I'd be more willing to accept that explanation if they didn't already use the threads on most plushies, regardless of where they come from.

I find them so distracting and unnecessary most of the time:

I think they're most appropriate when there's a real reason for them, like when the plushie is actually supposed to be trashed or worn out, like these:

They come from the same supplier. Mass produced without quality in mind.

Like Speiro said, it's an issue with most plushies, not just the lifelike dolls.

I really wouldn't mind a revamp for the worst offenders, just to remove the extra fuzz, and this is coming from the ultimate lifelike doll queen (fight me, i deserve this title)

are some of my favorite plushies. Obvious it's a plushie, but without the fuzz.

The recent Ontra plushie revamp was also really well done. Seams are logical, no extra fuzz. Goth really did a great job on them, high-fives. Absolutely my favorite plushie revamp.

I'm not so much bothered by the fuzz. What bothers me much more is the positioning on the avatar of certain dolls, for example Fester, Rreign and Torrent.

I'm referring to the trend for plushies/dolls in general to have these threads. The "too many stray threads" issue isn't a new complaint, nor is it restricted to just these dolls.
