Why does this matter? Whether you are a content creator yourself or support creators (such as PewDiePie, Nostalgia Critic, Markiplier, etc.), this issue affects EVERYONE. Hell, it even affects sites like Subeta, regarding items referencing popular media (Pokemon, Studio Ghibli, etc.). It is unjust for studios to practically bully small content creators by making false claims without any repercussions to said studios--the only one being punished is the small content creator.
The Internet is not going away. The content creators who have pioneered the video medium are not going away. But unless we unite as a whole, it very well could go away because of this broken system being abused when we the people are ensured the practice and use of the First Amendment and the right to Fair Use.
How can you help? Spread the word through any sort of social media. The hashtag being used for the movement is # WTFU. If you can, share this information with your local government representatives. Bring awareness to all by asking, Where's The Fair Use? The straw has finally broken the camel's back, and it's time to fight back.
[edit] You can also add your name to this contribution list; on March 2nd, a massive posting will go viral across social media, and you can be part of through the ease of signing up with this cause (hence why it's called 'thunderclap').
You have the option to opt out at anytime.

This is actually relatively old news in regard to online content, I'm not sure where you got the source post. It's also not the first time something like this has cropped up. YouTube's a very poor standard to go by anymore anyways, any lawmaker should know that.

That's the problem. It's an ongoing problem that needs to be solved. And it's not old news. That video was just uploaded yesterday. -_-
We have two choices: stick our heads in the ground and let large companies continue to fuck our asses hanging in the air in submission, or we can finally fight back for our rights.

I meant the idea isn't new. But I won't argue semantics.
Something does need done, internet laws need to catch up to the times but having one or two companies with sheriff badges in the otherwise wild, wild west that is the internet isn't going to be a fix.

My apologies. Right now, it's a matter of getting the word out there and making a lot of noise to draw attention. Solutions and compromising can come afterwards.

There's been a huge hashtag movement for Make YouTube Great Again, started by Grade A Under A, who talks about this sort of thing extensively. I recommend watching them, though he does swear, so sensitive people may not want to listen. But I believe the language and art style are both ways to make a clear-cut, emotionally and morally frustrating point.
