So my roommate's dog is in heat at the moment and she is in a lot of discomfort. I was just rubbing her belly and it's really hard and her poor lady bits are really swollen. She is scheduled to get spayed in two weeks but I would still like to do something to make her feel better. We tried the heating pad but she she too ADHD to sit there long enough. Any other tips on how to help her?

I'm guessing you already know to keep her away from all other dogs, leashed when outside, and to keep her corralled indoors until it subsides. xD

Unfortunately, there's not much you can do for the discomfort. Keep an eye on her, and be patient. ^^

Yeah, we have been keeping her away. My roommate has another dog but he has already been fixed and we've been keeping a close eye on both of them.

I wasn't sure of there was anything we could do but I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask. I just feel bad for her because she looks so uncomfortable and I know how she feels.

I know what you mean. Is this her first heat?

It's her second heat. They were going to get her fixed after the first heat but they ran into money problems

We used to put diapers on our dogs? I don't know if they make doggy diapers for dogs in heat, so maybe got to Petco/Petsmart or your closest pet store!

The best thing is just being there and comforting her through the cycle! It'll mean so much to them.

Keeping her distracted with toys will help, haha. She have a kong? Fill it with water or something and freeze it, give her some fun things to chew on that will keep her attention off of it.

My coworkers dog went through a heat and she didn't seem to be affected by it at ALL whenever I saw her cuz she was so excited and wanted to play really bad, hahaha.
